Beibei, dressed in a beautiful Hanfu and holding a Rabbit Lantern, watched the children passing by. Some were accompanied by their parents, while others were with friends, all wearing lovely Hanfu and carrying Rabbit Lanterns, happily wandering around.
Beibei felt a pang of envy. She turned to her mother and said eagerly, "Mom, I want to wear a beautiful Hanfu and have a Rabbit Lantern too."
"Then I'll take you to buy one," Liu Yuan replied, noticing her daughter's excitement without hesitation.
After changing into her new outfit, Beibei emerged looking just like a little attendant.
"Mom, do I look good?" Beibei asked as she twirled in front of Liu Yuan, holding up her skirt.
"You look great," Liu Yuan nodded, generously praising her.
"Hehe, can we take pictures now?" Beibei asked with anticipation.
"Of course," Liu Yuan agreed with a nod.
So Beibei and Liu Yuan took pictures together, trying on several outfits and having a wonderful time.
When Chen Yan arrived and saw the mother-daughter duo in their outfits, his eyes lit up. "You both look amazing in those clothes!"
"Really?" Beibei exclaimed joyfully as she ran over to him.
"Yes," Chen Yan nodded seriously.
"Dad, you should take pictures with us too," Beibei said hopefully.
"Sure!" Chen Yan would never refuse his daughter's proposal and immediately agreed.
Thus, the three of them began taking photos. Chen Yan even bought a bouquet of flowers for Liu Yuan to hold while Beibei linked her arm through his, striking a lovely pose.
"Mom, your smile looks beautiful like that," Chen Yan complimented Liu Yuan.
Feeling shy under his gaze, Liu Yuan lowered her head and smiled softly.
Chen Yan captured the moment of her looking down with a gentle smile; it was particularly beautiful.
"Dad, are you done taking pictures yet?" Beibei urged impatiently.
"Almost there," Chen Yan replied as he snapped a few more shots.
"Mom, look! Are Dad's pictures pretty?" Beibei couldn't wait to show her mother.
"Yes, they're quite nice," Liu Yuan said after glancing at the photos and nodding in satisfaction.
"I told you my mom is the prettiest," Beibei beamed at her mother's praise.
"Yes, yes, your mom is the most beautiful," Chen Yan quickly chimed in.
"Of course! Just look at whose mom she is," Beibei said proudly as she lifted her chin.
Seeing his daughter so proud made Chen Yan unable to resist pinching her cheek gently.
"Dad, why are you pinching my face?" Beibei glared at him in displeasure.
"Because Daddy likes you," Chen Yan said with a grin.
"Hmph! You should ask for my permission first," Beibei replied haughtily.
"Alright then, next time Daddy will ask for your permission first. How about that?" Chen Yan said indulgently.
"That sounds better," Beibei nodded in satisfaction.
That evening, Beibei proposed to stay overnight in the ancient town; she wanted to see the fireworks and the moon.
"Dad, can we stay here tonight, please?" Beibei tugged at her father's hand, her voice sweet and pleading.
"Sure," Chen Yan replied after a moment of thought.
"Really?" Beibei's eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked up at him.
"Yes, really," Chen Yan confirmed with a nod.
"Yay! You're the best, Dad!" Beibei exclaimed joyfully.
Chen Yan smiled and ruffled his daughter's hair before making a call to book a room. He asked Luo Ming to find the best hotel near the ancient town and then reserved a suite. By the time Liu Yuan found out, the room was already booked.
She sighed in exasperation. "Why didn't you discuss this with me?"
"I did discuss it with you; you definitely wouldn't have agreed," Chen Yan stated confidently.
"How do you know I wouldn't agree?" Liu Yuan challenged.
"Because you can't bear to part with Beibei," Chen Yan replied directly.
Liu Yuan fell silent. She indeed couldn't bear to be away from Beibei, but there was no need to say it out loud.
Beibei and Liu Yuan enjoyed their time in the ancient town, buying lots of things—balloons, glow sticks, fans... Liu Yuan handled the payments while Chen Yan carried the items.
Eventually, the three returned to the hotel.
"What’s our room number?" Liu Yuan asked Chen Yan.
He pulled out his ID and handed it to her.
"Can't I book it myself?" she questioned, slightly annoyed.
"I already booked it; are you going to cancel it?" Chen Yan countered.
Liu Yuan sighed but ultimately took the ID to check in. Chen Yan helped carry their things, following closely behind her.
Once they entered the elevator, Chen Yan pressed the button for their floor.
Liu Yuan raised an eyebrow at his action. "Have you been here before?"
"No," Chen Yan shook his head.
"Then how do you know it's on the eighth floor?" Liu Yuan asked suspiciously.
"Because hotels are usually on the eighth floor," Chen Yan explained.
Liu Yuan was left speechless.
When the elevator reached the eighth floor, they stepped out and found their room number, swiping their card to enter.
"Dad, I'm going to take a shower first," Beibei said, exhausted after a long day. She greeted her father and headed into the bathroom with her pajamas.
"Okay, go ahead," Chen Yan nodded.
Liu Yuan sat on the sofa, rubbing her shoulders. Noticing this, Chen Yan walked over to help her with a shoulder massage.
"How does that feel?" Chen Yan asked.
"Mm," Liu Yuan replied, eyes closed in enjoyment, responding casually.
Seeing her relaxed, Chen Yan put in more effort with the massage. Liu Yuan reveled in his service, feeling immensely comfortable.
"Alright, stop now," Liu Yuan opened her eyes and stopped him from continuing.
"What's wrong?" Chen Yan asked, puzzled.
"You should hurry and take a shower; it's getting late," Liu Yuan urged.
"Okay," Chen Yan said, not wanting to argue further, and turned to head to the bathroom.
When he finished showering and came out, Liu Yuan was already lying in bed. Chen Yan walked over and lay down on the other side.
"Dad, look! The moon outside is so round!" Beibei exclaimed excitedly as she leaned against the window, gazing at the moon.
"Yes, it is very round," Chen Yan said as he walked over and hugged his daughter.
"Dad, do you think the sunrise tomorrow will be beautiful too?" Beibei asked with anticipation.
"It should be," Chen Yan nodded.
"Then can we watch the sunrise together?" Beibei looked at her father expectantly.
"We can, but we have to wake up early," Chen Yan replied.
"I can wake up early!" Beibei declared firmly.
"Alright then, I'll wake you up tomorrow," Chen Yan said, unable to refuse his daughter's determination.
"Mm," Beibei nodded vigorously.
The next day, Beibei woke up early. She got dressed and ran to her parents' room to knock on the door.
"Mom, wake up! It's time to see the sunrise!" Beibei shouted while knocking.
Liu Yuan was stirred awake by her daughter's noise and opened her eyes groggily.
"Mom, wake up! It's time to see the sunrise!" Beibei continued knocking on the door.
With no choice but to comply, Liu Yuan got up to open the door.
"Mom, hurry and get dressed! We're going to see the sunrise!" Beibei urged as soon as her mother opened the door.
Liu Yuan yawned and nodded helplessly. "Alright."
She turned back into the room to grab some clothes from the wardrobe.
When she came out after changing her clothes, Chen Yan was already ready.
"Let's go," Chen Yan said, taking his daughter's hand and leading Liu Yuan out the door.
"Where are we going to see the sunrise?" Liu Yuan asked.
"To the mountain," Chen Yan replied.
Liu Yuan felt a sudden urge not to go.
But seeing her daughter's excited expression, she couldn't bring herself to refuse.
So, the family of three got into the car and headed up the mountain.
"Mom, look! The sun is slowly rising," Beibei exclaimed, pointing at the distant sun.
"Yes, it's beautiful," Liu Yuan said, unable to help but marvel at the slowly rising sun.
"Right, Mom? I told you the sunrise is beautiful," Beibei said proudly.
"Mm-hmm," Liu Yuan nodded, unconsciously quickening her pace.
However, she underestimated her own stamina.
After climbing halfway, she felt exhausted.
"Dad, Mom, I'm tired," Beibei said, unable to climb any further.
"I'll carry you," Chen Yan said without hesitation, picking up his daughter.
"Thank you, Dad," Beibei said happily as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Are you okay, Mom?" Chen Yan turned to look at Liu Yuan.
"I'm fine," Liu Yuan waved her hand dismissively.
"If you're tired, just take a break," Chen Yan suggested, noticing her pale complexion.
"I'm fine; let's keep going," Liu Yuan gritted her teeth and continued climbing.
After a hard struggle, they finally reached the top of the mountain, and Liu Yuan was drenched in sweat.
"Mom, come quickly! The sunrise is so beautiful!" Beibei shouted excitedly.
Liu Yuan walked over and looked into the distance; indeed, the sunrise was stunning—the entire sky was painted a golden hue, mesmerizing enough to hold one's gaze.
