Before Jiang Chen could respond, another girl sitting next to her, dressed flamboyantly and wearing heavy makeup, interjected, "Zhu Zhu, we don't even know him. Who knows if he's a good person? I don't agree with teaming up with him."
The girl named Zhu Zhu, whose full name was Xu Zhuzhu, was the daughter of a wealthy family in Shenzhen. Her companion was her close friend Qian Xinyi, also from a prominent family in Shenzhen.
Xu Zhuzhu had been studying abroad until last year when she returned to engage with her family's business. With her beauty and high education, she quickly gained fame in Shenzhen's elite circles. Many young men from wealthy families pursued her, but she rejected them all. This only fueled their determination to win her over; they had plenty of time to spend on her since they were often idle.
This situation left Xu Zhuzhu feeling overwhelmed, especially since her family's business faced some difficulties during the recent New Year. Her father sought help from the Du Family, one of the top ten investment groups in Shenzhen with substantial financial resources. The Du Family did not turn a blind eye to her father's plea for assistance and offered a billion investment to help Xu's family through their crisis, becoming shareholders in the process.
In the business world, such dealings were expected as everyone pursued their interests. However, Du Guanghua, the heir of the Du Family, had also joined the ranks of those pursuing Xu Zhuzhu. Given the Du Family's immense power, Xu's family dared not offend them. Her parents had been persuaded by Du Guanghua and began acting as matchmakers, urging Xu Zhuzhu to marry him.
Xu Zhuzhu felt utterly helpless; Du Guanghua had been married before and had a son who was over a decade older than her. Naturally, she was unwilling, but her parents' persuasion left her indecisive. Xu Zhuzhu couldn't disregard her entire family for her own sake. The relentless pursuit by Du Guanghua exhausted her mentally and physically, prompting her to choose travel as a way to relax.
"Mr. Jiang doesn't seem like a bad person; don't overthink it. We're all Huaxia people; meeting in a foreign land is fate," Xu Zhuzhu said softly.
"Two beautiful women with one man—what if he has ulterior motives?" Qian Xinyi expressed her disapproval of Jiang Chen.
"Xinyi, didn't you see that Mr. Jiang has a beautiful woman beside him? And she's from an Island Nation! Our Island Language skills aren't great; having an Island Nation beauty as a translator will make our trip easier," Xu Zhuzhu pointed out.
