Jeffrey raised his eyebrows when he received the returned fish.
" Lord William, the head of the household asked me to tell you that the Vandura Family's pond doesn't need such wild fish."
"The servant who brought the fish said in a flat voice, '... Have they harmed Miss Vanja?' Jeffrey frowned."
His fish are absolutely carefully selected, with an extremely gentle temperament, and even a bit afraid of people. They would never actively harm anyone.
The servant recited the words given to him by Louis, "No, they were just playing by the pond with the master and miss, and almost bit the master's hand."
Jeffrey squinted his eyes, pondered for a moment, and suddenly realized what had happened.
"I see, I almost bit Miss Vanja's hand."
He gave a Moderation smile, nodded to the stiff servant, and said, "I will come again another day to deliver my apology in person." The anxious and pitiful servant was then dismissed by him.
After returning, the servant relayed everything Jeffrey had said to the butler Louis. After hearing it all, Louis had a serious expression on his face.
"If he insists on coming over, then it will fulfill the young lady's wishes," he murmured, pointing his index finger on the back of his left hand. "But what does the young lady really want to do?"
Louis felt that he should first ask Daphne and temporarily set aside the matter of Jeffrey coming to apologize. He went to knock on her door.
Lucia opened the door and was surprised to see Louis at this time. She bowed and said, "Master Butler, Miss is getting ready to go to the garden."
Louis politely nodded to her and said, "I was counting on Miss not having left yet. I have some questions to ask Miss."
"Louis?" Daphne opened the door and happened to see the butler's figure. "Why did you suddenly come over? Did my brother send you for something?"
"I'm sorry, miss, I am not the head of the household. I just have some things I'd like to ask you about."
Two minutes later, they were both sitting on the opposite sofas, waiting for Lucia to pour tea for them.
The transparent orange tea was still steaming, gathering into a slender stream of water entering the porcelain white teacup. A few dry flower petals also flowed out from the teapot, floating on the surface of the tea, filling the room with a fresh floral fragrance.
Daphne held the cup and took a small sip, while Louis also picked up the teacup, put it to his lips, and took a sip, praising, "Very fragrant, the tea has no hint of bitterness."
After a moment of contemplation, Lucia served a few small snacks and then got to the point: "Miss, William family head has already received those two fish."
Daphne let out a sound, thinking about what her brother did to her with his fingers the day before, her neck turned red, and she asked stutteringly, "Did, did he say anything? He shouldn't have... I think my brother... my brother wouldn't tell him about me being hurt."
"The master indeed did not inform Lord William of your injury, but Lord William guessed it, so he sent the servant back to tell me that he will come to apologize to you in the near future."
Daphne found it hard to believe: "He actually guessed it?"
"Yes."
Louis nodded, "In fact, before conveying William family head's intention to the master, I still want to ask you first, why are you so determined to see Lord William? If you still don't want to tell me, the master will probably refuse his visit after knowing."
Daphne was a little embarrassed when asked like this, pressing her hot cheeks with her cold hands to cool them down.
"Actually, I... I'm not..."
"Hmm?" Louis looked puzzled.
Daphne looked up at him and whispered, "Can you not tell my brother what I told you?"
Facing Miss's earnest gaze, Louis stiffly nodded, "I think... if it's for an insignificant reason, I can do it."
"Then Louis, you have to remember what you said, okay!"
"Okay, miss."
Daphne let out a breath, pondered for a moment, and then asked him, " Louis, I have to ask you... um, does that William, does he... like me a little?"
