The Peak of the God of Combat is located at the northernmost point of the Eastern Victory Continent, approximately thirty million miles from the Cloud Mourning Sea. It is the region closest to the Cloud Mourning Sea among the Five Continents. At the same time, it is separated from the Northern Continent by an unknown expanse of mountains stretching for countless miles.
If there is anything special about the Peak of the God of Combat, it is that on a map, it happens to be at a junction of three realms. However, this junction is not particularly obvious.
The borders of the Eastern Victory Continent, Northern Continent, and Cloud Mourning Sea just graze past the Peak of the God of Combat, forming a rough triangle on the map, which defines the territory of the Peak.
As soon as Zuo Dao set foot on the land of the Peak of the God of Combat, he felt a familiar aura and couldn't help but stop in his tracks. Yan Zhen frowned and also stood still. Only Zhao Wang seemed unfazed by their reactions.
After a long while, they finally opened their eyes and exchanged glances filled with astonishment.
"It seems you both felt it too," Zhao Wang chuckled. "This is also why those forces are reluctant to invest too much here."
Zuo Dao and Yan Zhen nodded in agreement upon hearing this.
"This region has an inexplicable force that suppresses any Cultivator who steps onto it," Zhao Wang continued. "Even an Immortal King is no exception; the lower one's Realm, the greater the suppression."
"I've been suppressed to mid-stage Immortal King," Yan Zhen suddenly spoke up.
"What?" Zhao Wang exclaimed in shock. "That's impossible! Generally, an Immortal King would at least drop one major Realm when at the Peak of the God of Combat, and you..."
Zuo Dao and Yan Zhen fell silent because they knew this suppression was only temporary for them, and Zuo Dao had already begun to form a vague idea.
Zhao Wang looked at them with a wry smile and after a long pause said, "I knew it; you are all a bunch of Monsters. It seems Zuo Dao's choice of this place was indeed the best."
At this moment, they could see scattered Cultivators on the road, but they hurried along without exchanging a word. Even when they spotted Zuo Dao and his companions, they merely cast indifferent glances.
"Let's go. If I remember correctly, after traveling several thousand miles further, there will be a city—the only city in the Peak of the God of Combat—Chaos City," Zhao Wang said, noticing the unfriendly gazes from those Cultivators and not wanting to linger any longer.
"Then let's move," Zuo Dao replied as he glanced at the surrounding Cultivators.
The bloodthirsty aura emanating from these Cultivators was extremely intense. Even a Celestial General would possess a powerful bloodthirst within them.
From these individuals, he could see countless acts of slaughter and rivers of blood. This was something that Outer Sect Disciples lacked the most.
The three of them set off again, but this time, no one spoke. For them, tens of thousands of miles was not considered a long distance, but everyone needed a period of adjustment. Even though Zhao Wang had been here before, he still needed to readjust. After all, the reduction in Realm was something every Cultivator disliked.
"This suppression is beneficial for the Heterodox," Yan Zhen spoke again as the three maintained a steady flight at low altitude.
Zuo Dao nodded without saying anything, but Zhao Wang understood what this statement implied. The Heterodox's Realm was already suppressed; if it were to be suppressed further... he couldn't imagine what kind of situation would arise when they finally released the suppression on their Realm!
Zuo Dao and the others surprised him once more; the more they did so, the more secure the arrangements at the Peak of the God of Combat became. Their generation had aged, and what kept them going was not only the glory of their families but also their hopes for future generations.
Now, Zhao Yanwu no longer needed their concern; her path had already surpassed that of their generation. All they could do now was create a better environment for her.
The City of Chaos was vast and could be seen from afar. Its entirely black walls made it resemble a giant beast lying across the land.
The city towered thousands of feet high; even the nearest peaks only reached two-thirds of its height. How large was the Peak of the God of Combat? It spanned merely tens of thousands of miles, yet Chaos City occupied one-tenth of that area, rivaling even the royal cities atop the Five Continents.
This surprised Zuo Dao; such a large city existed in a state of disorder, which he found hard to comprehend.
Although resources at the Peak of the God of Combat were not abundant, Zhao Wang claimed they were sufficient to support this region's consumption. Moreover, with connections to both a sea and a continent, there were many operational opportunities. Yet this city had been abandoned by countless forces.
For Zuo Dao, this was an unforgivable waste. Fortunately, he had arrived. Even before reaching Chaos City, countless plans were already forming in his mind—plans to elevate the Heterodox.
"Due to the uniqueness of Chaos City, there is no Teleportation Array within it. No one wants a nail driven into their heart," Zhao Wang began to share what he knew slowly.
"I understand; if I were in their position, I wouldn't agree to have such a Teleportation Array in my city either," Zuo Dao started to grasp why those major forces were reluctant to intervene in Chaos City.
It was not only a burden but also a hornet's nest. Anyone who occupied Chaos City would undoubtedly become an enemy to others. Spending great resources to gain control over Chaos City while attracting hostility from everyone else was certainly an unwise endeavor.
As they approached, Zuo Dao realized that the entire wall of Chaos City was a single structure, not just a pile of stones. This revelation left him astonished.
The three of them looked up at the massive wall like ants, while passing cultivators seemed unfazed. It was not so long ago that they had first laid eyes on Chaos City and felt the same awe.
"The Peak of the God of Combat is very mysterious; it holds a great secret that countless people have tried to uncover but failed," Zhao Wang said, gazing at the wall thoughtfully. "When the first cultivator discovered Chaos City, there was nothing here—only this enormous stone wall. It took generations of effort for Chaos City to take on its current form; it truly is a miracle."
"Indeed," Zuo Dao replied absentmindedly, his mind wandering elsewhere.
"Come on, let’s go inside. You’ll see; there’s an even greater surprise waiting for you," Zhao Wang said with a mysterious smile as he stepped toward the city gate.
Chaos City's gate had no guards; there was no need for them, as people came and went freely. Yet, the towering gate gave Zuo Dao an inexplicable feeling.
"The gate stands ninety-nine zhang high and is one hundred eighty zhang deep; this is one of the four weakest points in the entire wall, while the thickest parts reach up to nine hundred zhang," Zhao Wang explained as they walked. "I’ve only been here once before and didn’t have time to observe many details."
"This seems to be Black Crystal Thunder Rock, doesn’t it?" Zuo Dao finally recalled the material of the city walls.
"I can’t believe you know that! If I didn’t know your background, I might think you were from some ancient immortal lineage. Yes, this is indeed Black Crystal Thunder Rock; it can resist most spell attacks and is even more effective against physical attacks," Zhao Wang chuckled. "Let’s head inside; that’s where the real surprise lies."
Zuo Dao remained noncommittal about Zhao Wang's teasing. The old man’s thoughts were always harder to decipher than a woman’s.
The ninety-nine zhang distance quickly vanished beneath their feet as they entered a bustling city. Even before stepping inside, they could hear a cacophony of voices.
Soon enough, Zuo Dao and Yan Zhen understood what Zhao Wang meant by an even greater surprise.
Pressure—once again, there was pressure. The force within the city was double that of outside. Yan Zhen felt his realm drop by another level. Just as he had begun to adapt, that uncomfortable sensation surged back.
"Very good, very good," Zuo Dao's eyes lit up; pressure brought motivation. This truly was a big surprise for him.
"Son, how come it seems like you’re completely unaffected?" Zhao Wang remarked as his own realm was suppressed again, feeling discomfort throughout his body while clearly sensing that Zuo Dao appeared entirely unbothered.
"You've become a Monster, what else can I do?" Zuo Dao smiled.
"Monster? You’ve got to be kidding me. Who in Chaos City dares to call themselves a Monster? This is the first time I've heard that, hahahaha." A discordant laugh came from the side.
As the young master of Chaos City’s East City, Xi Shui Nan was undoubtedly a tyrant. That day, feeling bored, he happened to stroll past the gates of East City, intending to grab a drink at "Shui Yao", when he overheard Zuo Dao’s words and couldn't help but chuckle.
In East City, who besides himself would dare to call themselves "talented" or a "Monster"? Even if someone did, they must have been utterly useless.
Moreover, judging by the looks of these individuals, they seemed like newcomers to Chaos City. Except for the slightly older one whose cultivation was somewhat decent, the other two young ones clearly appeared to be at the bottom of the hierarchy. How could such people dare to call themselves a Monster in front of him?
His followers behind him also laughed at this scene. Although their master could be a bit overbearing, he was relatively kind to them. So whenever there was an issue, they would help him resolve it, just like when they had previously schemed against several talented Cultivators to help Xi Shui Nan rise to power over their corpses.
Cultivators passing by saw that the main figure was the young master of East City and quickly made way, casting sympathetic glances at Zuo Dao and his companions. After all, who told them to catch Xi Shui Nan's attention?
Zuo Dao and the others hadn’t expected to run into trouble upon entering the city, especially over just a few words. As an Immortal King, Zhao Kuangyin naturally wouldn’t stoop to the level of dealing with someone like Xi Shui Nan, and Yan Zhen, known for his calm demeanor, wouldn’t care either. Even Zuo Dao merely glanced at Xi Shui Nan before turning away.
It was akin to a student boasting about knowing that one plus one equals two in front of college students. They completely ignored Xi Shui Nan’s behavior. To them, he was as insignificant as dirt. There was no need to engage with someone like him.
However, while Zuo Dao and his group had no issues, Xi Shui Nan was not pleased. How dare anyone in East City disrespect him? Especially with that dismissive look from Zuo Dao, which ignited his fury.
"Stop right there!" A sinister voice filled with anger echoed from behind Zuo Dao, accompanied by a whistling sound of an impending attack.
