One arrow, six kills. The arrow's trajectory was erratic, and just by initially attaching Divine Sense to the arrow, it wielded such immense power. What would happen if it were fully refined?
Chang He knew deep down that this was completely impossible. Even with the Demon Slayer Arrow, he could not achieve full refinement. It was as if these four arrows were merely fleeting visitors in his life—briefly possessed yet unable to last forever.
Zhao Yanwu and the others were utterly despairing; a single arrow had severely injured Zuo Dao. After intercepting the Demon Slayer Arrow, Zuo Dao stood there, bloodied and motionless. No one dared to approach him for fear of disturbing him.
In their hearts, they believed Zuo Dao was undoubtedly gravely injured. Surviving the Demon Slayer Arrow without dying was already a miracle, but they had no hope for a second arrow. If Chang He unleashed another arrow, Zuo Dao would have already made his mark in history.
What they did not know was that Zuo Dao was not injured at all. After spitting out a few mouthfuls of blood, he felt an incredible clarity within himself. More importantly, when the Demon Slayer Arrow struck the Wangfeng Platform, he suddenly sensed a familiar wave.
This wave captivated most of his mind, reducing his perception of the outside world to its lowest point; even as the Lethal Immortal Arrow flew toward him, he remained oblivious.
The Six Immortal Lords watched this scene from afar and exchanged knowing smiles. Dying at the hands of the Immortal King was entirely different from perishing at their own hands. More importantly, the secrets they held in their hearts remained intact.
Chang He released an arrow, feeling a weight lifted off his shoulders. The Four Arrows became increasingly monstrous; that last arrow had nearly drained his Celestial Essence, but thankfully it had already left the bowstring.
He swallowed a pill and began to recover. The Lethal Immortal Arrow had been released and no longer required his attention; soon enough, those jumping clowns would face a great surprise.
At the same time, he eagerly anticipated what kind of surprise the Lethal Immortal Arrow would bring him.
Jiang Xu's smile had just blossomed on his face when it suddenly twisted violently; the expressions of the Six Immortal Lords became remarkably uniform.
They realized they had been locked onto by a killing intent, and even the surrounding space began to feel heavy.
The six finally understood that Chang He’s second arrow was actually aimed at them.
Like a primordial demon resurrected, six beams of arrows radiated with an aura of death as they fiercely pierced into their chests. Regardless of their stance at that moment, even if they faced the arrows head-on, those beams drove mercilessly into their hearts.
There was no pain, no sensation, as if it were all a dream. The murderous intent from before dissipated like smoke in the wind, vanishing in an instant.
A realization rose simultaneously in the hearts of the six; death could indeed be a beautiful thing. Scenes from their past flowed through their minds—some were merely pleasant memories, while others were warm reminiscences.
With Chang He’s keen eyesight, he could clearly see the expressions on the faces of the six. Suddenly, an inexplicable chill flashed through his heart. What a strange arrow, what a strange expression. At that moment, he seemed to sense something, staring blankly at a scarlet short arrow that had appeared in his hand without him noticing.
Lethal Immortal Arrow.
Hadn't he already shot it out? When had it returned to his hand? What had killed those six?
In an instant, Chang He felt a surge of fear towards these four arrows that had always accompanied him.
The Six Immortal Lords died without pain and could even die happily. The smiles on their faces were genuine, unmistakably heartfelt to anyone who saw them.
Zhao Yanwu and the others were also stunned by this scene. Just based on the power of this arrow, it could certainly annihilate them; yet why had the target been those six?
Zuo Dao maintained his previous posture as waves of joy emanated from within Wangfeng Platform. This was because the Demon Slayer Arrow had been refined by it. Zuo Dao hadn’t expected that the notorious Demon Slayer Arrow would actually be refined by his treasure, and in such a short amount of time.
At the moment Wangfeng Platform refined the Demon Slayer Arrow, Immortal King Chang He seemed to feel something and looked over. He had mixed feelings about the four arrows—love and hate intertwined. However, losing them suddenly left him feeling somewhat despondent.
Stepping onto Seven Colors Radiance, he descended. He wanted to meet the immortal who had taken his Demon Slayer Arrow; he wanted to see the owner of Nine Monoliths.
At this moment, Zuo Dao had already retracted Wangfeng Platform and watched as Chang He approached, a cold light flickering in his eyes. Since refining the Demon Slayer Arrow, he knew that he and this Immortal King before him had begun to intertwine destinies.
He hadn’t anticipated that Wangfeng Platform would turn out to be such a remarkable treasure.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t return the Demon Slayer Arrow to you,” Zuo Dao said apologetically as he watched Chang He approach.
"I know, no need to worry. I realized it the moment I saw it," Chang He said softly as he approached Cloudstrider.
Zuo Dao suddenly stood up as if nothing had happened, speaking to the person opposite him in that tone. Everyone present was puzzled.
"Put away your sword, my friend. I mean no harm," Chang He said as he stepped closer, glancing at the tense Formation Array.
"No harm? If it weren't for Daozi stopping that arrow, we would have been dead by now," Zhao Yanwu retorted, unconcerned. She had seen Immortal Kings before and was not intimidated like most people.
"Miss, I didn't know before. If I had known it was him, I would have gone straight to the Dark Realm," Chang He chuckled, taking Zhao Yanwu's temper as a junior's complaint.
At this point, Xian Lan and Yan Sui Fa were at a loss for words; they had been shouting for blood earlier, yet now their attitude had changed completely.
"By the way, what is your name?" Chang He asked again, looking at Zuo Dao. His feelings towards this Cultivator were quite complex.
"Zuo Dao," Zuo Dao replied, meeting Chang He's gaze.
The notorious Bowmaster appeared as refined as a well-read scholar, exuding an air of detachment.
"I've been cultivating for several more years than you; I'll call you Zuo Dao out of respect," Chang He said, increasingly shocked by his observations of Zuo Dao.
By the time one reaches the realm of Immortal King, they usually have some understanding of the Dao; judging a person is often quite reliable. However, in Zuo Dao, he saw a chaos akin to the universe's birth and the earth's awakening. Everything seemed to exist in a state of oneness.
No wonder he was chosen by the Nine Monoliths; while there were reasons related to the Nine Monoliths themselves, it was primarily due to this Cultivator's own essence.
"There are some things I think you already understand a bit," Chang He continued speaking to Zuo Dao like a neighborly elder. "However, what you need to focus on now is getting to the Celestial Pool. Although I can temporarily obscure your perception, it won't last long."
"Right! Daozi, you should hurry to the Celestial Pool Baptism!" Zhao Yanwu exclaimed as she finally reacted to Chang He's words, urging Zuo Dao.
Chen Yang was stunned, Xian Lan was also stunned, and Yan Sui Fa along with his team were equally taken aback. The one who had slaughtered several teams of Golden Punishment was actually someone who had just ascended to the upper realm, without even undergoing the cleansing of the Celestial Realm.
Yet, despite this, they had still arrived here under his protection. Just how powerful was this person?
The young talents within the Celestial Realm appeared to be nothing but a joke in front of him.
Zuo Dao cast a deep glance at Chang He.
"Thank you."
With that, he pulled up Cheng Song and soared directly towards the Celestial Pool.
He felt no trace of malice or killing intent from this elder. Moreover, due to the Demon Slayer Arrow, he believed that Chang He would not do anything during his cleansing process.
Chang He hesitated for a moment but ultimately shook his head and stepped forward. He pulled out three arrows from within himself.
"Take these first, and also place that item into the Celestial Pool."
"Four Arrows."
Xian Lan exclaimed in surprise; it wasn't that he lacked composure, but rather that what Chang He produced was simply astonishing.
Zuo Dao recognized what they were and accepted the three arrows.
"Thank you!"
He understood that at this moment, there was no point in asking for more; he would have to wait until after his cleansing to have a good talk with this Immortal King.
"There's no need to thank me! This was always yours," Chang He said with a shake of his head and a smile.
Their conversation was hardly a secret to the others present. Though it consisted of just a few words, everyone in the vicinity quickly caught on.
"What exactly is your master’s identity?" Xian Lan asked, nudging the still-dazed Chen Yang.
"Master? He's a young lord. Aren't you one of his people?" Chen Yang replied, looking at Xian Lan with disdain as he finally grasped the situation.
Xian Lan felt a flush of embarrassment at being looked down upon by someone who had once been her subordinate.
Watching Zuo Dao and the others disappear into the Forbidden Area of the Immortal Pool, Zhao Yanwu bit her lip, lost in her thoughts.
Meanwhile, Chang He turned to face Xian Lan and Chen Yang.
"You call him 'young lord,' so you are his people?"
His amiable demeanor towards Zuo Dao did not extend to everyone else; as an Immortal King, he held his own pride.
"Yes, Chang Xianwang," Chen Yang and Xian Lan replied respectfully, not daring to be careless in front of him.
"Very good. This may be the wisest decision you make in your cultivation journey," Chang He said with a smile, his gaze softening slightly as he looked at them.
What was going on? Chen Yang and Xian Lan were utterly confused.
"Just remember your choice today; many things you will need to experience for yourselves," Chang He added before shifting his attention back to Zhao Yanwu.
At that moment, Xian Lan's heart felt like it was being tossed around in a storm. The last glance from the Immortal King seemed to pierce through her very soul. She understood that the smile meant something entirely different for her and Chen Yang; at least she sensed a warning within it.
Is it because I haven't fully returned to my heart?
"Miss, although I don't know how you got involved with the Dark Realm, from now on, I will take on everything for you," Chang He said confidently.
The Immortal King may have ranks among them, but Chang He was undoubtedly the best among the Immortal Kings. Even if there were other Immortal Kings in the Dark Realm, he was not afraid.
"I don't want that; having Daozi is enough," Zhao Yanwu replied, eyeing Chang He warily. She remembered how this person had beaten Zuo Dao until he vomited blood.
Chang He understood that his previous actions had made Zhao Yanwu suspicious of him, and he awkwardly smiled. After all, he had come to kill her before, and now he was trying to protect her—it was indeed hard for anyone to believe.
"Are you trying to target Daozi? Let me tell you, if you dare to harm Daozi, I will summon all my grandfathers," Zhao Yanwu declared without a hint of fear in front of an Immortal King, causing those around them to break into a cold sweat.
This was a blatant threat from the Red Fruit, and the target of the threat was a well-known Immortal King. Zhao Yanwu could be considered the foremost figure in the Celestial Realm.
"Hahaha." Chang He laughed heartily at Zhao Yanwu's words. He was actually being threatened by a younger generation, but it amused him.
"Just for that line, I, Chang He, will acknowledge you as my granddaughter."
"To have Chang Xianwang take notice of her is a testament to my daughter's spirit; I, Old Zhao, thank you for that." Just as Chang He finished speaking, an aged voice echoed from the void.
