Zuo Dao initially did not want to get involved in this matter, but he had a good impression of Tiger Soul. More importantly, Tiger Soul was likely the only one who had encountered the Supreme Lord. Even someone who could master the Supreme Art must have some connection to the Supreme Elder, and Zuo Dao found it hard to believe there was no link between them. What puzzled him was why the Supreme Lord would let Tiger Soul believe in himself while advising against trusting him. It was quite contradictory!
However, these thoughts could be set aside for now; there was something more pressing to address. Who exactly was the mastermind behind this? If he hadn't happened to stumble upon this situation, the War Department in front of him would have suffered severe casualties.
Zuo Dao's perspective was always clear: he did not oppose internal strife, but he absolutely would not allow an alliance with the Alien Race.
Just as Zuo Dao and his group halted their advance, a stir arose from the Demon Clan's side. An unknown team suddenly attempted to break through but then stopped. When the main party arrived, they began conversing with the earlier team.
Although there was reliable intelligence indicating that a War Department would pass through this area, Yao Liu Er San San and Magic Shock still felt a bit anxious. This mission was particularly daunting; the order from above was to annihilate the opposing War Department. While they did not understand why such a directive had been issued, they felt immense pressure knowing that dozens of elite War Departments from the Demon Clan were hidden within the surrounding space.
Under Zuo Dao's adjustments, Tiger Soul's War Department and Heterodox's War Department were thoroughly reorganized, though their core remained intact. The main core team consisted of ten squads from Heterodox, while Tiger Soul's War Division was divided into ten larger squads, now under Heterodox's command.
Although members of Tiger Soul's War Division voiced some discontent, all dissent vanished when the Twelve Disciples stood before them. Thus, the two War Departments temporarily merged into a new War Department comprising eleven squads.
Tang Fengyue felt an immediate increase in pressure, yet the blood within him roared and surged. Following Zuo Dao's lead, he had risen from being the captain of a mere ten-man team to leading a three-hundred-man War Department, and now he commanded nearly four thousand troops. It would be false to say he wasn't excited. With great power came great responsibility, and he understood this well.
What he sought was not just victory but recognition, which Zuo Dao had granted him.
The reorganized War Department set off once again. Yao Liu Er San San and Magic Shock's worries eased as they silently prepared for this ambush.
The formation that concealed spatial fluctuations came from a renowned master and effectively neutralized the disturbances generated in their space. At least within their Realm, it could not be sensed.
They drew closer. The Demon Clan members began entering a frenzy and bloodthirsty state; it was only in this state that their combat power peaked. The potential aftereffects were not something they needed to consider. Even if all War Departments perished, they were determined to wipe out the opposing Human Race War Division completely.
However, when the moment of attack arrived, Yao Liu Er San San and Magic Shock felt as if their minds were about to explode. If it weren't for their larger numbers and more dispersed formations, a single wave of attacks could have wiped out more than half of their forces.
They had no idea how they had been discovered; at that moment, they couldn't afford to hide or think too much. One by one, War Departments surged forth from the void, charging toward Zuo Dao and his group.
Zuo Dao felt a twinge of regret; although they had achieved some results from the previous attack, it wasn't ideal. The opposing War Department outnumbered them significantly; annihilating three enemy War Departments was still considered a substantial achievement. That meant total destruction—every attack struck at spatial nodes directly causing devastation in space itself—and naturally included all living beings within it; even if they survived, they would be exiled.
Losing three War Departments before battle even began would usually be acceptable since those were merely cannon fodder compared to the elite forces deployed this time. If this mission failed, Yao Liu Er San San and Magic Shock wouldn't even think about returning alive.
As they faced the approaching Demon War Division, the newly formed War Department showed no signs of fear. The Tiger Soul War Division had fought its way out of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. What puzzled him was that these three hundred newcomers showed no fear at all when confronted with such overwhelming demonic forces.
Fleet was constantly calculating the battlefield dynamics under the protection of the Twelve Disciples. The Demon Clan was the first to notice this team. The long-active Yao 6233 and Magic Shock on the Starry Battlefield were not particularly worried about the Human Race War Division; their only concern was the opposing Mechanics Student, who could turn the tide of battle. Typically, Mechanics Students are prime targets for elimination on the battlefield.
After breaking through the void, the Demon Clan's War Department did not charge chaotically toward Zuo Dao's side. Instead, they continuously adjusted their formation as they advanced, merging into a larger War Department as they neared the attack range. It seemed that there were also experts backing the Demon Clan's War Department.
Zuo Dao suddenly felt that this battle formation seemed somewhat familiar, though he couldn't recall where he had seen it before. After all, his mind was filled with vast knowledge, and unless absolutely necessary, he wouldn't delve into those memories, as it would require a significant amount of time and energy—something Zuo Dao lacked at the moment.
Having an opponent was a good thing; however, Zuo Dao had yet to identify the hidden figure behind the Demon Clan.
Compared to the reorganized Demon War Division, Zuo Dao's War Department appeared like a fish charging toward a shark.
The Demon Clan's charge lacked any remarkable features; it was like an arrow aimed directly at its target, with their primary objective being Zuo Dao's Mecha Squad hidden in the center of their War Department.
The first wave of attack came from Red Fruit's ferocity. When the arrowhead struck Zuo Dao's War Department, it was intercepted by Tiger Soul immediately. However, Tiger Soul faced immense pressure; they were pushed back repeatedly by the opponent's powerful assault. Although they couldn't launch a counterattack, they managed to withstand the onslaught.
As Tiger Soul retreated, the entire War Department followed suit without any sign of disorder.
This was a purely physical cultivation Squad and also Tiger Soul's trusted core. They practiced the Great King Tiger Technique but were limited by their lower Realm. Nevertheless, under the influence of their formidable Realm, their cultivation method yielded unexpectedly good results—fierce offense coupled with solid defense. With full defensive efforts, each member could withstand the tidal wave of attacks from the Demon Clan.
Streams of power surged through the air, bursts of light erupted everywhere. Often, one sound would be drowned out before it even resonated by another wave of noise. Eventually, a bizarre phenomenon emerged on the battlefield: attacks flew everywhere without a sound reaching out.
This was due to the rhythm of attacks exceeding sonic speed.
The pressure on Tiger Soul grew increasingly intense; as the shield for the entire War Department, their numbers were limited while the Demon War Division outnumbered them significantly. Often, before one wave of attacks from their opponents dissipated, another squad would initiate an assault.
All team members began to show varying degrees of injuries; there were no personnel replacements—a critical flaw for Zuo Dao’s side. Thus, they fought and retreated for nearly a hundred miles until some members of Tiger Soul could no longer hold on. Casualties began to appear; fortunately, Zuo Dao had been monitoring this situation closely. As soon as anyone from Tiger Soul fell, other team members rushed forward to rescue them.
Yao 6233 and Magic Shock started to feel anxious; despite how much time had passed, they still hadn't breached the enemy's defenses. The resilience of this War Department seemed excessively strong. Just as they hesitated, a cold snort suddenly echoed in their ears.
"Advance all lines and activate Blood Burning Battle Formation."
An emotionless voice rang out. Upon hearing this command, both Yao 6233 and Magic Shock shuddered in response.
"What?" Demon Six Two Three asked in disbelief. Suddenly, an overwhelming pressure descended upon him, causing a mouthful of demon blood to spill forth.
"King!"
Demon Shock Piano was startled but quickly regained composure and activated the Blood Burning Battle Formation. At that moment, if that voice commanded him to die, he would execute it without hesitation.
As the Demon War Division initiated the Blood Burning Battle Formation, waves of unrestrained spatial fluctuations emerged from the void behind them.
Zuo Dao was also drawn to these spatial fluctuations, and dozens of light points ignited in the emptiness.
"Spatial Transfer!"
Zuo Dao immediately understood what was happening. As expected, when the light points expanded into portals, waves of the Demon Army streamed out. They did not rush to attack but instead formed orderly ranks in midair.
Anyone witnessing this would know trouble was brewing.
The Tiger Soul Squad had already been replaced, and in their stead was a Heterodox Combat Team. Initially, Tiger Soul had some concerns about them. However, after observing this squad's performance, he felt completely reassured.
Although this team did not specialize in physical training, their defensive capabilities surpassed even those of his own squad. Regardless of what equipment they wore, any attack directed at them would be met with a radiant glow that negated the assault. Moreover, the entire squad operated in perfect harmony, seemingly without the need for communication.
Such coordination could only be achieved by a team forged through long-term training and combat experience! Zuo Dao was a monster, and even those he brought along were all exceptional beings. Not to mention the Twelve Holy Sons who had yet to make their move.
Zuo Dao called over Tiger Soul.
"How are things? Nothing serious, I hope?"
Tiger Soul, though injured himself, grinned. "It's nothing. I've endured worse injuries than this."
"That's good to hear. Have you sent out the distress signal?" Zuo Dao knew from Jiang Yuqi that every larger War Department had secret methods for relaying messages.
"I have, but..." Tiger Soul hesitated.
"What’s wrong?" Zuo Dao furrowed his brow, sensing that a variable was about to emerge.
"I'm not sure if Supreme Academy received the message. It seems like something is interfering with the signal I sent out," Tiger Soul replied honestly. He had promised Zuo Dao complete trust.
"Oh? Why would that be?" Zuo Dao crossed his arms and gazed into the distance where the Demon Army was gathering.
"Unless the enemy has discovered our War Department's transmission frequency, it shouldn't be possible for them to do this."
"It seems you’ve been thoroughly outmaneuvered!" Zuo Dao chuckled at the remark. Tiger Soul could only respond with a bitter smile.
"Dean Zuo, you should lead your team away. I'll stay back to hold them off for a while. Once you leave, we’ll have no more worries," Xiu said, seemingly resolute.
"Let us be cowards and watch you die?" Zuo Dao's tone turned cold. "The word 'coward' will never exist within Sitting Forgetting Academy, nor will we abandon our comrades."
After a brief pause, Zuo Dao looked at Tiger Soul.
"You will never understand what true Sitting Forgotten Glory is."
"Let’s fight! Don’t hold back any longer, Heterodox comrades! Let the enemy tremble beneath your feet!"
As Zuo Dao's voice rang out, wherever the Side Door Battle Team was present, an overwhelming battle spirit erupted.
