The entire Supreme Academy was aware that a remarkable talent had emerged among the new students. This individual had managed to outsmart the heads of both the War God Academy and the Spirit Sword Academy, all while seemingly remaining unfazed, establishing a foothold between the two institutions.
Zuo Dao quickly became a prominent figure at Supreme Academy, and naturally, the Spirit Sword Academy was involved in this situation. Tai Shu Wudi didn't care much about appearances, but the Dawn was furious. The War God Academy was thrown into chaos, with countless students being unjustly punished and sent to the battlefield.
However, Zuo Dao remained indifferent, enjoying his new life at Zuo Wang Peak. He occasionally trained the Three Women and chatted with Jiang Yuqi and Snow Red Swallow, essentially doing nothing of significance. Among all those on the peak, he was the most relaxed, while the Three Women focused intently on their training in hopes of keeping up with Zuo Dao. He could only let them be.
Every time new students entered Supreme Academy, an "Academy Competition" was held to showcase these newcomers. Previously, Dawn's forced summoning of new students using the War God Order had been somewhat against the rules, but as a high-ranking official, he couldn't be entirely disregarded. After all, he had paid a price for his actions. Thus, few pursued this issue further, although warnings were still issued.
This time, the "Academy Competition" was quite grand; nine out of ten Lords of the Mansion attended. It marked the first major event in thousands of years since the academy's closure. Additionally, Zuo Dao's actions during his ascension had piqued some antiques' interest, making this attendance from Supreme Academy's higher-ups unprecedented.
Dawn sat in a dark mood at the top table. Most of the other academy heads were aware of what had transpired and avoided bringing it up; even several academies friendly with War God Academy dared not approach.
At that moment, Zuo Dao was mingling with a group of new students. The Seven Disciples and Yan Zhen stared at him as if he were a monster, prompting Zuo Dao to smile awkwardly. Yan Zi and Yan Hong even sent him a message that simply read: "Beast." This left Zuo Dao both amused and exasperated.
The host for this "Academy Competition" was Jiang Yuqi's master, Luo Huaxing, known as a kind-hearted person who avoided conflict. This was one reason why Jiang Yuqi and Snow Red Swallow were eligible to serve as examiners.
While her master presided over the event, Jiang Yuqi mingled with Zuo Dao and his friends in a way that seemed somewhat out of place; however, she paid no mind to it and laughed along with them.
Luo Huaxing appeared oblivious to this scene below as he continued his duties as host. He had no objections to his disciple befriending Zuo Dao; in fact, he supported it wholeheartedly. After all, he was the head of the Machine Institute. As for any thoughts about Zuo Dao's academy affiliation, he had none—after all, opportunities should not be squandered. As long as Jiang Yuqi could maintain her friendship with Zuo Dao, that was sufficient.
However, this year's "Academy Competition" was somewhat unique—not only was it the first event in thousands of years but also recorded the lowest number of participants in history. Typically, there would be hundreds vying for recognition; each academy would usually secure several spots. This time around?
Fifty-four participants truly made it an "Academy Competition."
The "Academy Competition" wasn't just about academies competing for outstanding students; it also provided students with an opportunity to strive for better academies themselves. It was a win-win situation that everyone was eager to participate in.
Long before these students settled into Supreme Academy, each institution had made contact with them. However, given that there were more candidates than opportunities this time around, only a few truly aligned with their intentions. Aside from Zuo Dao and his three companions, none of the other top-tier students expressed interest. This added even more intrigue to this year's "Academy Competition."
After all, these more than ten students were the strongest among this batch, aside from the four from Zuo Dao. Some even had more potential than some of the older students.
The rules of the competition were simple. New students could challenge any academy's arena they preferred, and the winner would be admitted to that academy. If other academies also had their eyes on the same student, they could challenge the arena of the student's current academy, with the winner claiming the student.
Ultimately, this was a stage for showcasing power between academies; as long as you were strong enough, you could take away any student. However, with such power came greater responsibility. After all, who wouldn't want to gain benefits without any cost?
The opening was quite cold. Aside from a few students who had already shown interest and symbolically stepped onto the stage, the arena fell silent, and no new students came forward.
At the same time, these students subtly leaned towards Zuo Dao, seemingly ready to follow Zuo Dao's lead.
Both on and off the stage, silence reigned. Po Xiao felt a burning anger at this situation, while Tai Shu Wudi watched Zuo Dao from below the stage with a smile, occasionally chatting with those beside him.
"Did you see that girl next to him? Yes, the one with lotus patterns on her clothes. You guys can't compete with me for her; she's a Tai Shu."
His words drew a wave of disdainful glances. Tai Shu Wudi, however, remained unfazed, enjoying himself alone while continuing to speak. "That guy really pulled a fast one on me."
This made Po Xiao nearby feel uncomfortable; more eyes turned towards him. Everyone knew he was the one who had been most severely taken advantage of in that incident—God of War Dean Po Xiao.
With no students stepping onto the stage, Luo Huaxing felt somewhat troubled. At this rate, it seemed like this Academy Competition would come to an abrupt end. He hadn't expected Zuo Dao to have such a significant influence among the new students and couldn't help but recall Jiang Yuqi's words.
"Zuo Dao may seem nonchalant, but he often surprises people with his actions. He is bold yet meticulous, and his strength is unfathomable. I suspect that if it were truly a life-and-death battle, I wouldn't stand a chance against him."
He had never seen Jiang Yuqi speak so highly of anyone. The ancient body cultivators were known for their rebellious nature; they feared nothing but themselves. It was surprising to hear such praise for Zuo Dao.
"Looks like it's my turn to take the stage." Just as he was lost in thought about this matter, Zuo Dao stepped forward, catching everyone's attention. They began to speculate which academy Zuo Dao would choose; it seemed that the main event of the Academy Competition was about to begin—a battle unlike any other.
The work of Zuo Dao at Zuo Wang Peak was something these people could never forget.
Seeing the eager gazes from everyone on stage, Zuo Dao instinctively shrank his shoulders, clearly wanting to retreat. The deans would not let him off so easily.
"New student Zuo Dao, please select your examination academy," Luo Huaxing said quickly. After uttering this line, he retreated back into his seat, letting out a long sigh of relief; finally, it was no longer his concern.
"Um, can I ask a question?" Zuo Dao raised his hand after hearing Luo Huaxing's words.
Luo Huaxing's heart skipped a beat, but he did not show it.
"Sure, feel free to ask anything. Even if I don't know the answer, I'm sure everyone present would be happy to help."
Indeed, he was a nice guy. As soon as he said this, all the deans except for Po Xiao nodded in agreement.
"If I want to challenge the dean, is that a problem?"
"No problem." Luo Huaxing immediately responded but then realized something was off. "What do you mean you want to challenge the dean?"
"That's right. New student Zuo Dao formally requests to establish an academy."
