If the news of possessing the Unity Pill were to leak, Xunuo would inevitably attract the envy of others. In that case, Xunuo would have no choice but to shake his head and say to Li Zai, "I am indeed interested in this formation, but at present, I do not have a Unity Pill for this transaction. May I substitute it with other items?"
Li Zai replied, "I only exchange for the Unity Pill. Just because Xue Dao You does not have a Unity Pill now does not mean he won't have one in the future. We can sign a Death Contract Transaction. As an Alchemist, you will surely have opportunities to refine a Unity Pill. I am not in a hurry. Whenever Xue Dao You refines a Unity Pill, we can complete this transaction then."
Upon hearing this, Xunuo was hesitant and asked what a Death Contract Transaction entailed. Dai Tianqi smiled and began to explain.
The Death Contract Transaction is a method of trade in Chaotic Valley. Generally, it is only signed for larger transactions involving the Unity Pill because the Unity Pill is exceptionally rare in Chaotic Valley. It cannot be obtained casually or within a short time frame. However, some individuals always find ways to acquire Unity Pills, such as Alchemists or leaders of the three major factions.
If these individuals wish to exchange a Unity Pill for other items but currently lack one, they can sign a Death Contract Transaction with their trading partner. This allows them to obtain the desired items first and then fulfill the transaction when they acquire a Unity Pill.
The Death Contract Transaction can have a time limit or be indefinite. Typically, for Alchemists, most Death Contract Transactions are indefinite since no one can predict when an Alchemist will produce pills.
The advantage of the Death Contract Transaction is that once signed, one party can immediately obtain the needed items. For example, if Xunuo signs a Death Contract Transaction with Li Zai, he could instantly acquire this formation. The downside is that the party who has not fulfilled their end of the transaction cannot leave Chaotic Valley until it is completed.
Chaotic Valley is nominally free to enter and exit; however, leaving Chaotic Valley poses significant dangers due to threats from Evil Cultivators and Crimson Fire Ants. Even local Cultivators face life-and-death situations when entering or exiting Chaotic Valley.
Nonetheless, local Cultivators have various reasons that prevent them from leaving Chaotic Valley easily. Therefore, this concern does not weigh heavily on them. However, for Xunuo, who wishes to escape at any moment, it raises some apprehensions.
Yet when Xunuo thought about the ever-watchful Black Wind Old Monster, he realized there was no chance of escaping Chaotic Valley anytime soon. Thus, he became less concerned about this restriction.
Another point is that Chaotic Valley provides absolute protection for Death Contract Transactions. If either party involved in a signed Death Contract Transaction is killed before the transaction is completed, the perpetrator must pay with their life—there are no exceptions. After considering this, Xunuo felt that signing this Death Contract Transaction would be more beneficial than harmful for him. It could also serve to distract Black Wind Old Monster and create an opportunity for his escape.
Additionally, Xunuo had some confidence in his ability to refine a Unity Pill. He then said to Li Zai, "Since you have such confidence in me, I shall respectfully comply."
Li Zai chuckled as he collected the Formation Flag and handed it to Xunuo. He then led Xunuo to a castle built from massive stones at the foot of the Three Sacred Mountains.
This place was known as Chaotic Valley, a rather unique existence. Officially, it served as the base for the entourage of three Foundation Stage Cultivators. In reality, the cultivators within the castle were merely there to run errands for the three Foundation Stage Cultivators. The order within Mountain Valley was entirely determined by the three major factions. As long as they did not violate the fundamental rules set by the three Foundation Stage Cultivators, they never interfered in other matters.
Xunuo and Li Zai signed a Death Contract Transaction here, leaving Xunuo's Divine Consciousness Mark on a stone tablet. After completing the transaction, Xunuo would be able to return and cancel this Divine Consciousness Mark. Xunuo understood that during this period, he could only remain within Chaotic Valley, and he couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Just after signing the Death Contract Transaction, Dai Tianqi suddenly said, "I see that Xue Dao You has quite an affinity for the Condensation Pearl. I am reluctantly willing to part with one and transfer it to Xue Dao You. We seem to get along well. This Condensation Pearl is priced at one Unity Pill, so consider it half-sold, half-given. What do you think, Xue Dao You?"
Upon hearing this, Xunuo felt that the Condensation Pearl would be quite helpful for his future departure from Chaotic Valley. However, he hesitated at the thought of paying four Unity Pills all at once in six months. After all, he wasn't confident he could refine fourteen Unity Pills in one go.
Seeing Xunuo hesitate, Dai Tianqi added, "Xue Dao You also has considerable talent in artifact refining; I can share my insights on artifact refining and Runes with you."
Xunuo was overjoyed at this offer; such knowledge was priceless outside. With this information, he could even repair magical artifacts himself. He nodded and said, "Then I will accept your offer, Dai Dao Friend."
Dai Tianqi felt a surge of joy in his heart as he took out a Condensation Pearl and handed it to Xunuo. They signed another Death Contract Transaction together.
In fact, auxiliary magical artifacts like the Condensation Pearl did not require Unity Pills for trade within Chaotic Valley. Xunuo had been genuinely schemed against this time. He was at a disadvantage because he did not understand the market conditions within Chaotic Valley and was still measuring the value of magical artifacts by external standards.
Afterward, the three parted ways, and Xunuo happily returned to his Cave. He set up the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation, transforming thousands of feet around him into a surface of water before finally feeling secure enough to enter his Cave.
With this artifact-level Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation, Xunuo not only felt safe but also dared to sort through the storage bags obtained from his battle in Chaotic Valley. Most importantly, he needed to investigate whether any of them contained Condensation Pearls that could protect five Evil Cultivators deep within Copper Sand Sea. If those Condensation Pearls fell into the hands of Black Wind Old Monster, escaping from Chaotic Valley would become exceedingly difficult. It would require unconventional methods and careful planning.
Xunuo had slain two Evil Cultivators outside Chaotic Valley and obtained thirteen storage bags in total. After sorting through them, he discovered that most contained spirit stones, followed by various Talismans and Refining Materials. The least amount was Alchemy materials; he found ingredients for sixteen Unity Pills in just two of the storage bags.
Xunuo thought that these two storage bags likely belonged to those two Evil Cultivators. If the outside Cultivators had so many materials for Unity Pills, they would have sought help from Alchemy long ago instead of risking an adventure here.
In this organization, aside from making a significant profit from spirit stones and Talismans, Xunuo also had an unexpected gain. In one of the storage bags, Xunuo discovered two Minor Rejuvenation Pills. Minor Rejuvenation Pills are a relatively obscure type of elixir. While their main ingredients are not rare, one of the auxiliary materials is extremely scarce. Therefore, there are very few Alchemists capable of refining Minor Rejuvenation Pills. Some Cultivators who are unfamiliar with the properties of elixirs may not even recognize this type of Minor Rejuvenation Pill.
Currently, Xunuo possessed four Unity Pills and three Minor Rejuvenation Pills. This quantity is quite abundant even for Qi Guoren. However, for Xunuo, it was insufficient to elevate his cultivation to the peak of Foundation Stage.
The main reason for this is that Xunuo's goals differ from those of Qi Guoren and others. For other Loose Cultivators, advancing to Foundation Establishment Stage is the highest aspiration, and they dare not hope for more. Xunuo, on the other hand, aims for greater heights. At the very least, he wants to reach the level of the senior Duan Kong Wo.
Although Xunuo cannot yet make an accurate judgment about Duan Kong Wo's cultivation Realm, he knows that as long as his own cultivation approaches that level, he will be able to assess Duan Kong Wo's abilities. The Demonic Oath he made to Duan Kong Wo was not a casual promise; Xunuo is genuinely striving towards this goal.
Thus, Xunuo is working hard to improve his cultivation as quickly as possible to achieve this objective. He does not want to wait until his lifespan is nearly exhausted before experiencing a breakthrough. Such a situation would mean that every step forward would be pursued by time, leading to a state of distress.
Xunuo gazed at the seven elixirs before him. After a moment of calm contemplation, he waved his hand and stored them away.
Afterward, Xunuo categorized and stored items that he would not need temporarily in several storage bags. He kept only two bags on him for urgent and frequently used items before swiftly entering Boundary Space.
Xunuo shook off the storage bags and turned to enter Spirit Domain. In an instant, he arrived at the medicinal field he had cultivated.
The field was filled with various herbs aged over a Thousand Years, thriving and lush. It occupied most of the medicinal field. Xunuo hurriedly took out the herbs and seeds he had collected over these days and began planting them in the open spaces.
