Xunuo smiled and said, "If it is for the Unity Pill, I can make a deal with Dao Brother Zuo Qiu."
Zuo Qiu was delighted and asked, "Do you have the Unity Pill on you?"
Xunuo waved his hand and replied, "I don't have one on me, but I can refine one for you."
Zuo Qiu's eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "You are an Alchemist!"
Xunuo calmly responded, "I wouldn't call myself an Alchemist, but I have refined the Unity Pill for friends before."
Zuo Qiu joyfully said, "I still have materials for three Unity Pills. I wonder if we can refine one."
Xunuo did not answer that question. Instead, he said, "Dao Brother Zuo Qiu, when will you successfully refine a miniature formation? I am confident I can refine the Unity Pill for you then."
Zuo Qiu glanced at his daughter and realized that this opportunity might be his daughter's only chance. After pondering carefully, he said, "This formation is called the Wind Through Sparse Bamboo Formation. It focuses on the effect of Divine Sense penetrating through emptiness. It is vastly different from ordinary formations that shield Divine Sense. The materials required are exceptionally precious. If I want to thoroughly study and refine this formation, it will take at least two years. Can Young Friend wait?"
Xunuo replied, "Of course. Let us set a period of two and a half years. At that time, I will come to Zuo Qiu's residence to inspect the formation. If it possesses the power you described, I will accompany you to Crimson Flame Mountain for Alchemy."
Zuo Qiu was overjoyed and wrote down his address on a jade slip before handing it to Xunuo.
Xunuo smiled and said, "I am Xunuo, a friend of Dongfang Yunqing. The Unity Pill I refine is also to assist him."
Upon hearing this, Zuo Qiu was even happier and said, "I also have a friendship with Dongfang Daoist; this makes me even less worried."
Xunuo thought for a moment and said, "If you cannot exchange this dual-element formation for the Unity Pill, then please, Zuo Qiu, consider selling it to me."
Zuo Qiu nodded and replied, "That's easy enough. If I can't get the Unity Pill, this formation will definitely be left for Xue Dao You."
After that, Xunuo relaxed and took his leave.
As soon as Xunuo stored the Formation away, he placed the Boundary Stone inside it. Now he no longer worried about the secret of the Boundary Stone being leaked. With that in mind, Xunuo strolled around the elixir and Herb Market.
Xunuo's main goal at the moment was to procure the materials for the Unity Pill, as well as those for two other elixirs that also enhanced magical cultivation. He was also open to acquiring seedlings or seeds to prepare for the future.
However, after wandering around the Trade Fair for herbs, Xunuo encountered an unexpected situation. The prices for both the Unity Pill and the materials for the other two elixirs were exorbitantly high. Each time such materials appeared, several people would compete fiercely to bid on them, making it difficult for a cultivator of Xunuo's level to participate.
What frustrated Xunuo the most was that the main ingredients for these elixirs required hundreds of years of cultivation. Unless one belonged to a sect or a family, ordinary loose cultivators would not bother growing them. As a result, there were no harvested seedlings or seeds available for trade. Moreover, elixirs like the Unity Pill that promoted cultivation were even less likely to be found on the market.
After spending an entire day at the elixir and Herb Market, Xunuo managed to acquire some other herbs and seedlings but came up empty-handed regarding the main ingredients for the three cultivation-enhancing elixirs.
As the Trade Fair was nearing its end, Xunuo reluctantly turned to leave.
At this point, Xunuo felt lost. Although he had some alchemical skills, even a skilled artisan could not work without materials. The Unity Pills he had obtained were all acquired through competition with others. He never expected that the main ingredients for the Unity Pill would be so sought after. It seemed that this time at Dome Mountain during the Golden Family Trading Conference might end in failure.
As he walked back, Xunuo began to contemplate that if he couldn't purchase these main ingredients at this Trade Fair, he would need to consult Dongfang Yunqing about where to dig up these herbs.
Upon returning home and entering the main hall, Xunuo saw it filled with people engaged in lively conversation. Even Black Wind Old Monster, known for his unpredictable temperament, appeared cheerful and chatty.
As soon as Xunuo entered, Dongfang Yunqing happily said, "Xue Dao You has an old friend visiting. Come and see who it is."
Xunuo hurriedly clasped his hands and walked in, puzzled about who he might know in the cultivation world. At that moment, a thin figure sitting with his back to Xunuo turned around. Xunuo's expression changed drastically upon seeing Qi Guoren.
When Qi Guoren saw Xunuo, his smile vanished, replaced by a stern look. "So it's really you. When I first heard Dongfang mention Xue Dao You escaping from the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, I was skeptical. Now that I see you unharmed, it seems all your schemes have worked out. But what about the other friends who died in the Ten Thousand Great Mountains? How do you plan to explain that?"
Xunuo felt a chill for a moment and replied, "What explanation is needed? I fought for my life as well. I nearly lost it to the Azure Fox Demon."
Qi Guoren's long eyebrows shot up in anger. "We invested so much effort, yet you failed to fulfill your duty. Are those who died in vain?"
Realizing there was a misunderstanding, Xunuo interjected, "Do you know how many beasts were at that exit?"
Qi Guoren paused, looking confused and silent. Xunuo continued, "Think carefully, even if I had thoughts of survival. But Chang Iron Tower was determined to sacrifice himself for his companion's chance at life. If we hadn't drawn away a beast, how could he have sent you that jade slip? It was an unexpected turn of events; we did our best."
Still suspicious, Qi Guoren asked, "Could Chang Iron Tower not outrun you? Even if someone survived, it shouldn't be you."
The Black Wind Old Monster chimed in with a curse, "Damn it, this guy may lack other skills but he's good at running away."
Xunuo blushed but ignored him. He addressed Qi Guoren again, "That day when Chang Iron Tower and I approached the passage, we realized we had miscalculated. Three beasts were guarding the Passage Entrance. The situation arose so suddenly that we couldn't notify you in time. We had no choice but to shatter the jade slip and escape separately. We hoped to lure out two beasts but only one followed Chang Iron Tower. Seeing an opportunity for survival, I turned back. When I reached the cave entrance, I saw you fleeing on your flying artifact while the other two beasts were engaged with several of our companions in battle. I fought desperately to break through the passage and barely escaped with my life, though I was struck by the Pig Demon and only made it out half-alive."
Upon hearing this, especially when Xunuo mentioned his own escape first, Qi Guoren's face showed some embarrassment.
Originally, when Qi Guoren encountered Dongfang Yunqing today and heard him mention Xunuo—saying they had fought against beasts together in the Ten Thousand Great Mountains—he became furious. He thought it possible that Xunuo had not attempted to draw away the beasts at all, which led to injuries and deaths among their group.
However, upon hearing Xunuo's explanation, it became clear that his anger had clouded his judgment. His communication jade slip had been given to Chang Iron Tower. And Chang Iron Tower was certainly doomed; there was no way he could harm his companion again. Analyzing it this way, Xunuo's words were indeed true.
Qi Guoren sighed and said, "So it seems I have misunderstood Xue Dao You. As for asking Xue Dao You to lure away the beast, I hope you won't hold it against me. At that time, the situation was dire, and there was no other choice."
Xunuo muttered under his breath but replied, "In truth, I don't hold a grudge against you, Dao Friend Qi. If it weren't for luring away the beast, I might have ended up like the others, leaving only bones in this desolate mountain."
Then Qi Guoren asked about the circumstances at that time.
As the only witness, Xunuo recounted what had happened. Naturally, he would not disclose the fact that Liu Qishan had charged out of the passage and had been killed by him. Even so, Qi Guoren listened with a sense of regret. Afterward, they discussed matters related to the Trade Fair.
At this point, Xunuo turned his attention to the other individuals present. There were five visitors today; aside from Qi Guoren, there was another person whom Xunuo recognized—Zuo Qiu, whom he had encountered earlier at Magic Array City. Today they introduced themselves to each other, and Xunuo learned that Zuo Qiu was the person's surname; his full name was Zuo Qiu Jian Ying.
Seeing Xunuo looking at him, Zuo Qiu Jian Ying quickly cupped his hands and said, "Xue Dao You is indeed fortunate; over these years, very few have managed to return unscathed from the Ten Thousand Great Mountains."
Xunuo forced a smile and replied, "It is true that luck plays a part; however, relying solely on luck on the path of cultivation will likely lead nowhere."
Zuo Qiu Jian Ying nodded with a smile and continued, "I have decided to return tomorrow. Today I specifically came to give you this set of formation flags as a deposit for our transaction."
With that, he took out thirteen Formation Flags and handed them to Xunuo.
