This incident took place in 1998, in Xiliugu Village, Liangzhuang Town, Puyang City, Henan Province. One morning, a farmer named Shen Yunxiang was carrying his water buckets to the vegetable field to water his crops, just like any other day. 0

As he passed by a wheat field, he suddenly heard a strange sound coming from within. At first, he thought it might be an animal, but as he listened more closely, it began to sound increasingly like a human voice. 0

Curious, Shen Yunxiang pushed aside the wheat to see where the sound was coming from. What he saw startled him greatly: a man in his thirties was lying in the wheat field, motionless and seemingly either injured or gravely ill. 0

Being a kind-hearted person, Shen Yunxiang quickly scooped some water from his bucket and helped the man drink. The cold water revived the man’s senses; he grabbed the ladle and desperately poured water into his mouth. At that moment, several other villagers happened to pass by and were equally curious about why someone would be collapsed there. 0

Seeing that others had come to help him, the man began to recount his story. His name was Wu Qiang, and he was a tomb raider. The night before, he and his uncle had spotted an ancient tomb nearby and decided to dig it up under the cover of darkness. 0

Wu Qiang's uncle had spent several years tomb raiding in Shaanxi. Although they hadn’t made much money, he claimed to have learned some skills. After working for half the night, they had indeed managed to excavate a tunnel leading to the tomb. 0

They crawled through the tunnel until they broke through a layer of bricks and found themselves in the burial chamber. 0

To their surprise, it wasn’t as lavish as depicted in tomb raiding novels and movies; it was merely a brick room with many areas collapsed and covered in dust. 0

Suddenly, Wu Qiang shouted that there was a coffin! Both men felt a rush of excitement; with the antique market booming in recent years, anything they could find would fetch a good price. 0

They took out their crowbars and prepared to pry open the coffin. However, as soon as they applied force, wisps of white smoke began to emerge from inside. Although the smoke wasn’t particularly pungent, they feared poisoning and waited for it to dissipate before approaching. 0

Peering into the coffin revealed both shock and delight for Wu Qiang and his uncle. 0

To their joy, there were indeed numerous burial goods inside: gold, jade, and agate. But what astonished them was that the corpse showed no signs of decay; its skin was merely shriveled. They didn’t dwell on that for long; their attention was captivated by the gold and precious stones. 0

Wu Qiang had heard from his peers that corpses do not decay, either because the coffins are sealed tightly or because there are beads in their mouths. When he pried open the mouth of a corpse, he was surprised to find a large bead inside. His uncle happened to see this and shouted as if he had witnessed something horrifying. 0

It turned out that his uncle noticed Wu Qiang was not wearing gloves and warned him that this could cause the deceased to rise. Just as he finished speaking, the corpse in the coffin unexpectedly sat up. 0

Both of them were frozen in place, terrified. Although they thought about running away, fear paralyzed their legs. The corpse, however, moved with alarming speed and quickly approached them. 0

Uncle Wu Qiang reacted faster and pushed him hard. Wu Qiang stumbled towards the Tunnel in a panic. Just as he crawled into the Tunnel, he heard a scream behind him. He turned back and was met with a horrifying sight. 0

The corpse had transformed into a zombie, one hand plunged into his uncle's chest, piercing through his body. It grabbed his uncle's heart and began to chew on it, the crunching sound sending chills down Wu Qiang's spine. At that moment, Wu Qiang was so frightened that he lost all sense of thought about his uncle and just ran for his life. 0

The Tunnel felt interminably long as he heard strange cries behind him. He dared not stop until he finally crawled out of the Tunnel, running blindly in panic. Suddenly, he tripped over a stone and fell, losing consciousness. 0

Everyone who listened to the man's story was at a loss for words. The man did not seem to be lying, but if it were true, then it served him right. Later, someone called the police, and Wu Qiang was taken away by them. 0

Eventually, it was reported that the police found the Tunnel in a nearby field while escorting Wu Qiang. The man was sentenced for Tomb Raiding, but the police did not find his uncle's body or any zombies in the ancient tomb. They concluded that Wu Qiang must have experienced hallucinations caused by toxic gas during the Tomb Raiding. 0

About half a month later, it was said that in a village not far from there, a family saw a zombie dressed in ancient clothing while cooking dinner in their straw hut. Hearing that such creatures would come alive at night to harm people, they decided to burn it on a wooden frame before sunset. 0

It was said that they burned it for a long time before the zombie turned to ashes. Others claimed that the entire village could smell a pungent stench, but these were just rumors that could not be verified. 0
