Wei Xian Gui frowned and said, "That's strange. Where did Peng Bai go?"
Wei Ning shook his head.
Wei Xian Gui asked in confusion, "Based on what you know about him, where do you think he would go?"
Wei Ning replied, "Peng Bai hates you to the core. After enduring for so long, he would certainly aim for your weak spots..."
"Weak spots..." Wei Xian Gui murmured, "my weak spots, my weak spots..." Suddenly, it seemed like he remembered something and exclaimed, "Oh no!" He hurriedly left the place again. The two of them raced down the mountain path. After running back and forth like this, even though they were both non-human, they were starting to feel exhausted. Wei Ning suddenly said, "Actually, we should have a more convenient way."
"What is it?" Wei Xian Gui asked.
Wei Ning replied bitterly, "There’s something in this world called a car..."
Wei Xian Gui abruptly stopped in his tracks and said, "Right! Why didn’t you say so earlier? We wasted so much time!"
Wei Ning was speechless.
As Wei Xian Gui and Wei Ning descended the mountain, a motorcycle suddenly sped past them on the National Highway. Wei Xian Gui quickly jumped down and stood in front of the motorcycle. The rider was startled and slammed on the brakes, cursing, "Are you blind? You don't look for death like this..."
Before the rider could finish, Wei Xian Gui lunged forward and struck him on the neck with his hand. The man let out a muffled groan and fainted. Wei Xian Gui seized the motorcycle and urgently said, "Wei Ning, you drive; I don’t know how to operate this thing."
Wei Ning glanced at Wei Xian Gui with a long sigh and said, "Let's just run away."
This time it was Wei Xian Gui who was left speechless.
Finally, the two managed to flag down a passing truck. At Wei Xian Gui's repeated requests, the driver had no choice but to change course and head straight for Hengyang on the highway. Wei Ning was puzzled by Wei Xian Gui's sudden urgency, but it was clear that Peng Bai had pressed a crucial button, stepping on his "tail."
Under Wei Xian Gui's instructions, the driver sped along, reaching Hengyang in less than three hours. Once they arrived, Wei Xian Gui jumped out and, with Wei Ning in tow, dashed off again. Gradually, Wei Ning began to realize their destination: it was the home of Maid Granny, the fortune teller he had visited last time.
Wei Xian Gui pushed the door open and found the house empty. Upon entering the inner room, he saw Peng Bai sitting leisurely on the bed. The room was stained with blood, and a ghost was hunched over a corpse, greedily scooping out its brain and feasting on it.
As soon as Peng Bai spotted Wei Xian Gui, he stood up with a grin and said, "Old Wei, you’re just a step too late!"
The corpse before them was none other than Maid Granny, who had saved Wei Ning's life years ago at Dragon Tiger Mountain.
Wei Ning's eyes filled with rage as he stepped forward and shouted, "You..."
Wei Xian Gui raised a hand to stop him. The sadness in his eyes flickered and vanished as he coldly regarded Peng Bai. "Peng Bai, you've gone too far this time."
"Is that so?" Peng Bai waved his hand dismissively and replied nonchalantly, "In warfare, the best strategy is to attack the heart; besieging a city comes second. Old Wei, I truly have to thank you. Thanks to you over the years, I've read many books and understood many things I didn’t before."
Wei Xian Gui replied calmly, "That's good to hear. I hope your years of hiding like a turtle haven't been in vain."
Wei Ning shouted angrily, "You have grievances with Wei Xian Gui; take it out on him! My grandmother has no enmity with you—why treat her like this?" Remembering Maid Granny's kindness towards him brought tears to his eyes.
"Wei Ning, don’t disgrace the Wei family; what’s one life?" Wei Xian Gui scolded.
"There’s no enmity between us; she truly has no quarrel with me. But it’s unfortunate she has such a good father. However, Wei Xian Gui, haven’t you always taken pleasure in slaughtering your own kin? I’ve helped you kill one; you won’t blame me for that, will you?" Peng Bai said ominously.
Wei Xian Gui did not even lift his eyelids, his tone devoid of any emotion: "As you wish."
"You!" Peng Bai pointed at Wei Ning, "It was I who granted you the Yin-Yang Eye, and it was I who helped you die and come back to life, transforming you into the person you are now—You!" He then pointed at Wei Xian Gui, saying, "It was I who rescued your corpse and brought you back to life." Peng Bai paused for a moment and continued, "Without me, you would all be nothing but dry bones now. But how do you treat me?"
"Enough, Peng Bai. You resurrected me only to achieve your ulterior motives. Do you really think you can control me, control the heroes of the Wei Family?" When Wei Xian Gui mentioned the Wei Family, there was always a hint of pride in his voice. Toward Peng Bai, however, his tone was laced with disdain and mockery. "You dare compare your sinister tricks with Zhu You's righteous methods? How arrogant and foolish of you to seek your own demise."
Peng Bai nodded and said, "Wei Xian Gui, I admit that my skills are inferior to yours, which is why I was trapped by you. But today, everything is different."
Wei Xian Gui glanced dismissively at the Yin-Yang Boy beside him and said, "With this useless thing? Peng Bai, you don't even spare your own son; how can you be so inhumane?"
Peng Bai chuckled and replied, "Likewise. You're not much better. Haven't several generations of the Wei Family been driven to death by you? I remember that even your daughter couldn't tolerate you and wanted to kill you quickly."
Peng Bai continued, "Blood Corpse, where do you stand? Wei Xian Gui is a traitor to your Wei Family. You should know how he treated your grandfather. Now, if we join forces, this will be an easy task. In the end, we both get our revenge. What do you think?"
Wei Xian Gui raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "I didn't expect that after all these years, you still lack courage, Peng Bai. Are you still so afraid to face me in a one-on-one battle?"
Wei Ning felt something strange; Peng Bai had once been a formidable figure, but since Wei Xian Gui's appearance, he had weakened in both presence and momentum, completely overshadowed by Wei Xian Gui's aura.
Peng Bai smiled and said, "Isn't uniting all possible forces to establish a united front a consistent policy of my party—Blood Corpse? You need to think this through."
