But at this moment, he could not move, let alone make a sound. If he did, it would leak out his Yang energy, startling the Demon God and causing the Yang Family Daughter to lose what might be her only chance at Reincarnation.
Qiqi expressionlessly captured the soul of the Yang Family Daughter and led her out the door, with Wei Ning hurriedly following behind.
The Yang Family Daughter was crying and making a fuss, but Qiqi remained impassive, pulling her soul forward relentlessly. After a while, Qiqi stopped at a crossroads where a figure in black stood waiting for her. The person wore a high hat with the words "One Glance Brings Wealth" inscribed on it. Qiqi handed over the Yang Family Daughter's soul to the figure in black. Suddenly, a flash of white appeared, and Qiqi vanished without a trace. The figure in black dragged the soul into the darkness, moving deeper until they quickly disappeared from sight.
By the time Wei Ning arrived, everything was gone; the long street was empty as if nothing had ever happened.
“Qiqi!” Wei Ning stood on the long street, letting out a heart-wrenching scream.
Suddenly, Wei Ning crouched down and pulled out a bowl from his bosom, banging it repeatedly on the ground while urgently chanting, “Come quickly, come quickly!”
Sure enough, after a while, a chilling wind swept through the long street as ghostly figures began to emerge. Countless wandering souls rushed in from all directions, surrounding Wei Ning. Their long tongues flailed as they stared at him with cold eyes. Because it was a full moon tonight, Evil Energy was at its peak; it seemed that ghosts from hundreds of miles around had gathered here. In an instant, the long street was blocked tight. Wei Ning continued to bang the bowl and glanced around before suddenly picking up a handful of yellow earth from the ground and swallowing it. It was said that if a mortal held yellow earth in their mouth, they could communicate with ghosts and speak their language.
Wei Ning asked one of the ghosts, “Where did that Soul Reaper go just now?”
The ghost did not respond. Growing anxious, Wei Ning pulled out a porcelain bottle from his bosom containing Rooster Blood. He suddenly splashed some of the chicken blood onto one of the ghosts and coldly demanded, “Tell me quickly—where did that white-clad Impermanence go?”
As the ghost was stained with Rooster Blood, green smoke began to rise from its body. It grimaced in pain and knelt on the ground repeatedly pleading, “Please spare me, I’m just a wandering soul! How would I know about Yin Division matters? I beg you to let me go!”
Wei Ning said coldly, “You truly don’t know?”
The Ghost Fire bowed its head repeatedly like pounding garlic and cried out, “I truly don’t know! Please spare me! Please spare me!”
With Rooster Blood in hand, Wei Ning looked at the trembling ghosts around him and said, “Does anyone know? Speak up quickly.”
The other ghosts realized that Wei Ning was certainly an extraordinary person; most ghosts bullied the weak and feared the strong. They immediately knelt down and begged in unison, “We don’t know! We don’t know! Please spare us!”
Wei Ning sighed, thinking to himself that those wandering souls probably wouldn't dare to pry into Impermanence's soul-harvesting. With a heavy heart, he set down the Rooster Blood and said, "You all can leave now." He then wiped the Rooster Blood off the wandering ghost.
The wandering souls had initially thought they would feast, but after Wei Ning's intervention, they scattered like birds and beasts.
Regardless, if Wei Ning wasn't mistaken, that Impermanence must be Qiqi!
Moreover, Wei Ning was quite confident in his eyesight.
Having lost and then found again, Wei Ning felt a profound sense of loss and murmured, "Qiqi, oh Qiqi, where are you?" He dragged his long shadow away, feeling desolate.
In any case, Wei Ning had confirmed one thing: Qiqi had not undergone Reincarnation; she was still in this world. Whether in the Underworld or the mortal realm, Wei Ning was determined to find her. Even if he had to search through the depths of heaven or hell, he would find her.
Wei Ning shouted in his heart.
When he returned home, Wei Mother informed him that Grandpa was waiting for him at the Wei Family Ancestral Tomb and urged him to go see him quickly.
Upon seeing Wei Ning, Wei Qiuxi hurriedly asked, "Where have you been these past few days? You didn't even say goodbye before leaving. Do you know what’s wrong with you?"
Wei Ning slowly raised his head to glance at his grandfather and said, "Grandpa, I need to find her. I saw her."
"Who? Oh, so what if you did?"
Wei Ning briefly recounted his encounter with Qiqi to Wei Qiuxi. After listening, Wei Qiuxi frowned and said, "That's not right. According to common logic, a Yang Person becoming Impermanence is a result of accumulating virtue; their Lifespan should naturally be longer than others. However, a Yang Impermanence is just like an ordinary person—when one dies, their light goes out and they enter Reincarnation. It doesn't make sense for someone who has died to still be acting as Impermanence."
Upon hearing this from Wei Qiuxi, it felt as if Wei Ning had grasped a lifeline; his eyes filled with hope. "Grandpa, do you also believe that Qiqi is not dead?"
"Wei Qiuxi" said, "According to common sense, it should be, but..."
"Grandpa, I want to find her," "Wei Ning" looked at "Wei Qiuxi" and declared firmly.
"You, how can you be so..." Upon hearing this, "Wei Qiuxi" immediately became anxious. "You can't even protect yourself; how can you have time for such things? Don't you realize that 'Wei Xian Gui' might be watching us from some corner, ready to deliver a fatal blow at any moment?"
"Wei Ning" shook his head and replied, "'Qiqi' has sacrificed too much for me. Without her, what is the point of my existence? No matter if she is alive or dead, at least I know she is still in this world. As long as she is here, I will go find her. If she is alive, we will become a couple. If she is dead, I will join her and become a pair of unfortunate ghostly lovers. As long as I can be with 'Qiqi', even as ghosts, we will be happy."
"Wei Qiuxi" looked at his grandson with a determined gaze; it seemed he had made up his mind. He knew his grandson's character—he was usually accommodating and obedient, but once he had made a decision, nothing could change his mind.
With a sigh, "Wei Ning" continued, "Besides, we 'Zhu You' lineage should not exist in this world any longer. If fate dictates it so, let the 'Corpse Chasing Wei Family' end with me."
"Wei Qiuxi" shook his head and sighed deeply. "Well then, since you are resolute in your decision, Grandpa will not stop you anymore. But do you know how to find her?"
"Wei Ning" was momentarily at a loss for words. "Wei Qiuxi" smiled at him and said, "Let Grandpa help you—after all, I will have to take you there sooner or later. Let's go first thing in the morning; perhaps we can gather some information from them."
"Wei Ning" hurriedly asked, "Grandpa, where is that?"
"Wei Qiuxi" smiled mysteriously and slowly uttered three words: "Corpse Demon."
