It was about to snow. Zhu Ba sighed as he looked out at the dim night sky, weariness creeping over him. He had spent a full twenty years at Dragon Tiger Mountain, transforming from a person full of ambition to someone who merely got by. The reason was simple: ever since he first ascended the mountain, he had spent all his time in this kitchen. Yet, after two decades, he still found himself in the same place. The only reason for this was Ning Suwen's remark: "Zhu Ba's Borscht is delicious."
Recently, Dragon Tiger Mountain had undergone changes, but what did it matter to someone who had never even met the sect leader?
The autumn chill was settling in outside. Zhu Ba sighed again and turned back into the kitchen; it was time to start preparing another meal.
Suddenly, Zhu Ba gasped in surprise. He noticed someone had entered the room without him realizing it, holding half a roast chicken left over from lunch and devouring it with gusto. He felt a mix of shock and anger—how could this person sneak past the strict guards of Dragon Tiger Mountain? And how dare they steal from him!
Zhu Ba shouted, "You thief! How dare you steal from me here? Do you even know where you are?" He reached out his hand. Although Zhu Ba had never formally learned the techniques of Dragon Tiger, he had picked up some skills through observation and felt confident dealing with an ordinary thief. To his surprise, the intruder remained calm, not even glancing at Zhu Ba as they grabbed his outstretched hand and lifted a chair to pin down Zhu Ba's arm. With a cry of pain, Zhu Ba found himself unable to move his entire arm. The intruder finished off the chicken before looking up and saying, "Tell me where Lin Lingsu is!"
Zhu Ba retorted angrily, "You bold thief! You’ve come all the way to Dragon Tiger Mountain just to get yourself punished!" Wei Ning raised the chicken bone in his hand and struck Zhu Ba's arm hard. The pain shot through him like a jolt; he cried out, "Spare me! Please spare me!"
Wei Ning released Zhu Ba's arm and said coolly, "Go tell Lin Lingsu that an old acquaintance has come to collect a debt."
Zhu Ba scrambled to his feet and rushed outside, but not before turning back to shout, "You wait! If I don’t kick your ass today, I’m not human..." Wei Ning glared at him fiercely, causing Zhu Ba to flee without hesitation to find help.
Wei Ning stood up and stretched his back; after running for a while, he finally felt satisfied after a hearty meal but wondered if such vigorous activity right after eating would affect his digestion.
"Brother Leopard, it's him!" Soon enough, Zhu Ba returned with a group of people in tow, pointing at Wei Ning. "That's the one! He trespassed on Dragon Tiger Mountain and tried to peek at the chairman while bathing. When I tried to stop him, he even assaulted me."
The leader of the group, Brother Leopard, shot Zhu Ba a glare and asked, "Is the chairman up on the mountain?"
Zhu Ba quickly retreated behind the others. Brother Leopard appeared to be the leader of this group and continued, "Who are you? Do you know where this place is? If you’re smart, crawl through my legs and I’ll let you go." His tone was condescending as if he didn’t regard Wei Ning as a threat at all.
A few disciples burst into laughter.
Wei Ning smiled lightly, "Of course I know. That's why I'm here."
Brother Leopard said, "Damn it, if you know, why did you come? Are you looking for death? What are your intentions at Dragon Tiger Mountain?"
Wei Ning replied calmly, "To kill."
The crowd's expressions changed in unison, then they erupted into laughter, doubling over. Suddenly, one disciple quietly approached Brother Leopard and whispered something to him. Brother Leopard's expression shifted dramatically as he exclaimed, "Is that true?"
The disciple nodded, "It's true. I saw it clearly; it was definitely him."
Brother Leopard's face grew serious as he ordered, "You go quickly tell Vice Chairman Xu. I'll hold him off for now. It's just a Blood Corpse, right? We captured him back then; we can do it again today. If we can bring him back to show the Chairman, you and I will be set for life."
His eyes gleamed as he looked at Wei Ning, as if seeing a pile of gold.
"There's a reason for everything; go call Lin Lingsu. I don't want to kill innocents, even though you all aren't exactly good people."
"Why bother the Chairman? A few of us brothers can capture you ourselves!" Brother Leopard sneered, taking the lead to attack. He whipped out his nine-section whip and swiftly aimed for Wei Ning's throat. Wei Ning didn't even glance; he reached out and caught the whip's end, pulling Brother Leopard towards him with a forceful kick and shouted, "Go lie down outside." He actually kicked Brother Leopard out the door, sending him crashing onto the basketball court outside, where he struggled to get up while groaning in pain.
The other brothers exchanged glances and shouted, "Damn it, let's fight this guy!" They each pulled out knives and rushed at Wei Ning. Wei Ning called out loudly, "Come on then!" He picked up a bench from under his feet and stood firm as if he knew where their knives were coming from. The knives seemed to have eyes of their own, all striking the bench instead. When they tried to pull them out, they couldn't.
Wei Ning glared at them, causing them to feel a chill run down their spines. "Get out," he bellowed. With several loud thuds, he kicked each of them in the stomach in succession. They bent over like shrimp in pain, clutching their bellies. Wei Ning moved swiftly, grabbing one with each hand and tossing them aside; they piled on top of Brother Leopard like a stack of dominoes, nearly reaching half the height of a basketball hoop.
Wei Ning leaped up, standing atop the human tower, and with a forceful push of his feet, the people below immediately began to cry out in distress.
Now, Wei Ning quietly awaited Lin Lingsu's arrival.
"What!" Xu Suwen exclaimed, his eyes widening as he looked at the cowering Zhu Ba beside him. "Is that the Blood Corpse you mentioned from years ago?"
"Yes. I heard it from Brother Leopard; it was Brother Leopard who... sent me here..." Zhu Ba stammered. As a lowly chef, he never imagined he would have to speak to someone of Xu Suwen's caliber, especially not under such important circumstances.
Xu Suwen's expression turned grave as he muttered to himself, "This kid actually dares to create a Dragon's Den; he must have some backing. He’s definitely here to take revenge for the last time we flayed him and refined his corpse. With Lin not on the mountain... sigh..."
He waved his hand dismissively. "Zhu Ba, you can leave now."
"Yes." Zhu Ba quickly patted his backside and exited.
Xu Suwen turned to his disciples nearby. "Quickly summon a few elders to the kitchen at the back mountain. Anyone above the second generation who is on the mountain, come with me! They’ve already come to our doorstep; are we still afraid of them? I want to see just how formidable this Blood Corpse really is!" With that, he shook his hands, black and white whips appearing in his grasp, and strode out.
By the time Xu Suwen reached the basketball court in front of the kitchen, Wei Ning had been waiting atop the human tower for quite some time. Upon seeing Xu Suwen, their eyes met with a fierce intensity, heavy with hatred. Wei Ning coldly demanded, "Where is Lin Lingsu? Bring her to me."
