"After all this, why don't you call out your two friends?"
Wei Ning tossed the Red Pearl into the air, and it spun gracefully, emitting a dazzling red light. Before long, Ding Ying and Liu Linglang appeared.
Liu Linglang was relatively better off, able to move freely in the human realm. However, Ding Ying, being a ghost, could not absorb much yang energy and rarely showed herself. This time, she was summoned by Wei Ning and looked curiously at both Wei Ning and Wei Qiuxi.
"Wei Ning, who is he? His beard looks so ugly," Liu Linglang said, hands on her hips.
"Don't be rude; he is my grandfather," Wei Ning quickly replied.
"Ah!" Ding Ying exclaimed and promptly bowed respectfully. "Ding Ying pays her respects to grandfather."
Seeing Liu Linglang's cute demeanor and Ding Ying's stunning beauty, Wei Qiuxi couldn't take Liu Linglang's words to heart. He smiled slightly and said, "Young lady, you are quite spirited."
Ding Ying smiled gracefully. "Grandfather looks ethereal; it's clear he's not an ordinary person. I thought the Jade Emperor had sent down the Star of Venus. Is this really your grandfather, Wei Ning?"
Wei Qiuxi chuckled heartily but suddenly grew serious. "You, a lonely soul, why do you refuse to reincarnate? Why do you cling to this mortal world? Are you not afraid of being unable to reincarnate for eternity?"
Ding Ying shuddered at his words and glanced pleadingly at Wei Ning, hoping he would explain. Wei Ning cleared his throat and said, "Grandfather, it's like this: because of that situation, which led to another situation, it has turned out this way."
Wei Qiuxi looked at Ding Ying. She dared not meet his gaze, appearing pitiful with a mournful expression in her eyes. Wei Ning continued, "Grandfather, Ding Ying fought against the evil bandits of Dragon Tiger Mountain for me. If it weren't for her selfless rescue, I might have already died. So..."
Wei Qiuxi said calmly, "Girl, if I have a way to help you reincarnate, would you be willing?"
Ding Ying gasped softly and glanced at Wei Ning again; her large watery eyes seemed on the verge of tears.
Wei Ning glanced at Ding Ying, seemingly reluctant, but if Grandpa could truly help Ding Ying with her Reincarnation, it might not be a bad thing. He nodded and said, "Ying, if Grandpa can really help you, it might not be such a bad thing for you."
Ding Ying bit her lower lip and said, "No, if I Reincarnate, I won't remember what you look like. I don't want that. It doesn't matter if you forget me, but please let me stay quietly by your side. As long as I'm near you, I won't hold you back. Grandpa, I promise I won't be a burden to Wei Ning. Please don't drive me away."
Wei Qiuxi sighed and said, "You two are both sentimental people. Ning, you've really accumulated quite a bit of emotional debt in this life."
Wei Ning thought of Qiqi, who had turned into a sea of flowers, and felt a pang in his heart.
"Well then, let's wait until later," Wei Qiuxi sighed again and said, "You two stay here and wait. I will go in with Wei Ning. Remember not to wander off; there are traps everywhere here. One misstep could mean you can never return."
He led Wei Ning inside.
The inner hall was an even more luxurious room, filled with extravagant furnishings. In the center stood a Crystal Coffin, from which wisps of cold air emanated. Wei Qiuxi said, "Go take a look; see who he is."
As Wei Ning stepped closer and looked inside, he couldn't help but exclaim loudly.
Inside the Crystal Coffin lay a person who looked exactly like him—only his complexion was pale, lying there as if unchanged for thousands of years.
This was Wei Xianjun! He looked just like himself?
Wei Qiuxi spoke calmly, "Every special family has unique hereditary traits that can skip generations—some have blood types, some have moles, and others have personalities. But our Wei Family is different; our unique inheritance is—this face."
"This face?!"
Wei Qiuxi continued calmly, "In our Wei Family, whenever a significant figure appears, it is foretold that they will bear this face—an identical face. You are one such person; Wei Xianjun is another. And going back even further leads us to the extraordinary talent of the Wei Family from three hundred years ago—Wei Xie Zhen."
"This," Wei Ning said in astonishment, almost speechless, "this is too much."
"Indeed, when I first entered here and saw Wei Xianjun, I was also very surprised because he looked almost exactly like you. At that moment, I understood that you would be the one to revitalize our Wei Family. However, this also signifies that you have the potential to become an outstanding figure in the Wei Family's history. It’s likely that I’m not the only one who has noticed this; Wang Tuozi and Wei Xian Gui have seen it too. That’s why Wei Xian Gui is so fond of you, making you his final experiment. But whether you possess the same extraordinary abilities as Wei Xianjun will depend on your future efforts. So far, you have barely passed the test because you have awakened your Fifth Soul."
"The Fifth Soul is a gift left to you by Wei Xianjun and one of the foundations for you to become the new master of Zhu You. Like Wei Xianjun, after the extraction of the Undying Bone, you have become an immortal Blood Corpse. In fact, due to the Corpse Raising Ground, your lineage may be even purer than Wei Xian Gui's. You might very well become the first person from the Wei Family to ascend to sainthood. You remain here in hopes of truly understanding the essence of the Wei Family."
"The essence of the Wei Family?"
"Yes, he will teach you," Wei Qiuxi replied.
"He?" Wei Ning swallowed hard. "How can he teach? He's just a lifeless corpse. Are we really going to make him get up and teach me the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms?"
Wei Qiuxi's expression remained calm, seemingly unfazed by this not-so-funny joke. He said lightly, "Sometimes, the dead can tell you more than the living. Stay here; when you understand what you need to know, you can leave. I will take care of your two friends; don’t worry."
With that, he slowly walked out and closed the door behind him.
"What am I supposed to eat? I'm not Liu He or Ding Ying; I can't go without food or water," Wei Ning exclaimed anxiously. "Grandpa, you have to bring me food!"
"Sometimes, hunger and thirst can stimulate a person's potential even more," came Wei Qiuxi's distant voice.
