Wei Ning woke up early, only to find his mother busy in the kitchen. After finishing breakfast, his mother brought out some tools for the Corpse Driver, neatly categorized and complete. Wei Ning recognized them all too well, as they were once used by Wei Qiuxi. 0

After eating, it was already bright outside, and Wei Ning knew it was time to set off. However, he seemed lost in thought, reluctant to rise until his mother asked him directly. He hesitated before saying, "Mother, do you have any news about Qiqi?" 0

"Qiqi?" Wei Mother’s expression shifted slightly. "Didn’t you send her away? Why are you asking about her now?" 0

"No, I didn’t..." Wei Ning replied. "I just worry about her being alone out there... Has she not contacted you since she left?" 0

"No," Wei Mother said coldly. Wei Ning felt a sudden pang of loss, an indescribable feeling rising in his heart. He looked at his own delicate hands and realized that for some time now, he had felt a connection to Qiqi, but he couldn’t pinpoint when it began or when it faded away. With a sigh, he gathered his things and stepped outside. 0

Although Wei Mother was tidying up at home, she seemed too indifferent to even bid him farewell. It wasn’t until he reached the village entrance that she finally stepped out of the house. Watching her son disappear from view, she sighed and murmured, "Foolish boy, you owe her too much; how will you ever repay it in this lifetime?" 0

"That child Qiqi... I always thought she was pitiful. Back then... I felt she was honest and quiet, quite suitable for Wei Ning. That’s why I discussed with Old Fang to bring these two together. Who would have thought that Wei Ning would reject such a good wife and instead get involved with that Enchantress from Dragon Tiger Mountain? He’s making a mess of things! As a mother, I should guide him better; if he continues to be so stubborn, he might ruin the Wei Family's legacy built over a thousand years." 0

"Dad." Wei Mother turned around and saw an old man slowly emerging into the morning sunlight. His skin appeared pale, clearly due to not having seen the sun for a long time. 0

The old man chuckled softly and said, "It’s stifling in that Ancestral Tomb; I just came out for some fresh air. Don’t worry; that old fellow Wei Xian Gui won’t notice me. Even if he does come out, with my current abilities, I might still be able to hold my own against him; I can clear my worries about him too." 0

Wei Mother frowned and replied, "Dad, you know very well that Wei Xian Gui is an immortal Blood Corpse. Even if we combine our strengths to defeat him, we might not be able to kill him. If we expose ourselves in the process, it would be a loss." 0

The old man sighed and asked, "Do you know what has happened with Wei Zi over the past few years?" 0

Wei Mother shook her head and said, "Last time on the back mountain of Dragon Tiger Mountain, Wei Xian Gui suddenly appeared and stopped us from rescuing Ning'er. After that, both Wei Xian Gui and Ning'er vanished. Several of my seniors from the Wei Family have gone to Dragon Tiger Mountain multiple times to gather information, but there has been nothing. When I asked Ning'er, it seems her memories from the past three years have also been erased by someone. Father, could it be that Wei Xian Gui is behind this?" 0

"I have always been puzzled about what Wei Xian Gui is up to. I analyzed it several times with Wang Chuyi, but we couldn't figure it out. Even someone as talented as Peng Bai couldn't make sense of it. However, after spending so many years in the Ancestral Tomb, I think I might have come to some understanding." 0

Wei Mother said, "Wang Chuyi is indeed a true friend; he genuinely cares for Ning'er. When you entrusted Ning'er to him back then, he agreed without a second thought. Father, being able to befriend someone like him in your lifetime is worth it." 0

The old man nodded and said, "Yes, I owe a lot to Wang Chuyi these past few years. Next time he comes here, I must thank him properly and ask him what has happened with Wei Zi over these years; he should know more about it." 0

The old man coughed lightly and said, "What we need to do now is to deal with Wei Xian Gui with all our might. I, Wang Tuozi, can be considered one faction; Peng Bai was originally one of us too, but his solitary nature prevents him from seeking revenge through others. So he can only be counted as a separate faction. Now we have three parties in this struggle that has lasted for generations; it seems we are approaching the final stage." 0

Wei Mother said, "Father, why complicate things? If you could persuade Wang Chuyi to lend you the Drought Corpse for a while, even the immortal Wei Xian Gui would likely meet his end." 0

The old man chuckled softly and replied, "If there is anything in this world that makes Wang Chuyi both hate and fear it, the Drought Corpse would be at the top of that list. If there were something capable of destroying his Drought Corpse, Wang Chuyi would surely go to any lengths to find it." 0

"What do you mean?" 0

"Wang Tuozi is using the Drought Corpse, but little does he know that the Drought Corpse is also using Wang Chuyi. Who is controlling whom is still uncertain. Right now, the Drought Corpse has not yet ascended to divinity and must rely on a human body; they are currently intertwined in fate—sharing glory and suffering together. Otherwise, how could Wang Chuyi possibly summon such a divine entity? Wang Chuyi's success and failure hinge on the Drought Corpse; he must be feeling quite conflicted. Ever since that incident, he has been atoning for nearly a hundred years; his life has been quite miserable..." The old man sighed. 0

Wei Mother asked, "Father, since you've already guessed Wei Xian Gui's motives, what exactly are they?" 0

The old man smiled mysteriously and said, "If a group of sheep lives with a tiger, who would be happier?" 0

"Naturally, it would be the tiger." 0

The old man shook his head and said, "You're wrong. It's the flock of sheep that matters. Although this tiger is fierce and every sheep fears it, it can never be happy. It can only watch as the sheep live their lives, while it remains forever alone—without friends, without family. It can only helplessly observe the flock thriving in their community, while it is always an outcast, forever rejected by others." He paused for a moment and added, "Sometimes, loneliness is more terrifying than death." 0

Wei Mother seemed to not fully understand and shook her head. 0
