Ning Suwen let out a low grunt, reaching out to grasp the head of Black Whip in his hand. He pulled it back, causing Xu Suwen to lose his balance and fly toward Ning Suwen. With his other hand shaped like a blade, he aimed a strike at Xu Suwen's spirit.
Xu Suwen shouted loudly, and Black Whip rippled like a wave, creating circles of disturbance. He stepped into the Seven Star Steps, using the force from Ning Suwen's pull to swiftly dart to his right side. His right hand shot to his chest, and from within his sleeve emerged a white shadow that moved as quickly as a spirit snake, akin to a White Snake flicking its tongue. It carried an overwhelming and unresistable power, swirling around three times before attempting to ensnare Ning Suwen.
In an instant, the sound of energy breaking through the air echoed in the spirit hall, filled with a chilling aura.
"Well done," Ling Su exclaimed, releasing her energy with a loud shout. "Don't forget who taught you these whips!" As her hands met the black and white whips, they became entangled tightly. Ning Suwen released his hidden strength through the whips, shooting directly toward Xu Suwen. Xu Suwen let out a muffled grunt as the whips slipped from his grasp.
With a flick of his wrist, Ning Suwen now held both whips firmly in his hands. He stared intently at Lin Lingsu and asked, "Lin, do you think the same way?"
The resentment in Lin Lingsu's eyes did not diminish as she met Ning Suwen's gaze and replied, "Now that it has come to this, there is no turning back."
After letting out three long laughs, Ning Suwen nodded at Lin Lingsu and said, "Very good, very good. This place is too narrow; we mustn't disturb the Ancestor. You two follow me."
He turned and led the way out of the ancestral hall.
The wind rustled through the bamboo forest, causing countless green bamboos to sway and whisper. Ning Suwen stood tall with his hands behind his back and said, "Lin, do you remember this place?"
Lin Lingsu nodded and replied, "This is where you first taught me your methods."
"Indeed. I never expected that here we would engage in a life-and-death battle as master and disciple. Perhaps this is what they call fate playing tricks on people. Do you still remember your vows made here?"
"To honor the earth above and respect the Demon God below; to value my master and uphold my teachings; I vow never to betray my sect. If I do..."
"What then?" Ning Suwen asked solemnly, his eyes gleaming with intensity.
Lin Lingsu bit her lip and declared, "To die beneath the Inferno's wrath, never to return."
"Very well," Ning Suwen nodded and said, "So what will you do now?"
Lin Lingsu lowered her head, remaining silent.
Ning Suwen continued, "As long as you admit your mistakes in front of the Ancestor and vow to live like Xu Suwen for the rest of your life, never stepping out of the Ancestral Hall, I can spare your life out of respect for our years of master-disciple relationship."
Lin Lingsu pondered for a moment, then suddenly raised her head and looked at Ning Suwen. She spoke slowly and deliberately, "It's too late. Even if it were the Thunder Inferno today, nothing could stop me."
Ning Suwen nodded, a hint of approval in his voice. "Knowing it is impossible yet still attempting it—you're just as stubborn as Lin Changjing. Although I have fought against Chang Jing my entire life, I must admit he is one of the few people I truly respect. I admire that trait in him, and I admire it in you as well. What a pity..."
Lin Lingsu drew out her Seven Star Sword, holding it across her chest, staring intently at Ning Suwen while guarding her vital points. She was fully alert, aware that standing before her was her master—someone who knew her inside and out, an existence so powerful that she had almost no chance of winning. Yet she steadied her mind, focused intently, and secretly resolved that even if she were to die here today, she would never take a step back.
Better to die than to be humiliated.
The three stood there in a tense standoff, seemingly with no one willing to make the first move. The forest was silent except for the occasional flutter of birds passing by.
Only a deep chill lingered in the air.
Suddenly, Ning Suwen moved. Lin Lingsu and Xu Suwen immediately heightened their defenses, bracing themselves for action. To their surprise, Ning Suwen broke into an unexpected smile and said, "There's still plenty of time; no need to be so tense."
Then he turned to Lin Lingsu softly and said, "Lin, it's been a long time since we had a private conversation like this. I'm not sure how your Dao Techniques have progressed lately; we've always been too busy before. Now that it's just the three of us, I thought I could offer some guidance. You've always wanted to know the secret of the Five Elements Divine Escape; I'll share it with you now."
Lin Lingsu felt a chill run down her spine. She wasn't sure what Ning Suwen was up to, but she remembered that the more amiable he appeared, the stronger his murderous intent became.
With a huff, she silently fortified her defenses.
Ning Suwen nodded and said, "Why don't you bring out your Sun God Jade Man?"
Lin Lingsu was taken aback, even more confused about Ning Suwen's intentions. Coldly, he said, "If you want to fight, then let’s fight. Why all this pretense?"
Ning Suwen sighed, his eyes filled with encouragement. "Just show me what you've got."
With a heart full of doubts, Lin Lingsu looked at Ning Suwen, increasingly bewildered by his actions. However, he tentatively stepped onto the Yubu and began to chant a spell. Suddenly, a loud boom echoed as the Golden Armored Deity appeared majestically in mid-air, gazing down at the three people on the ground.
Lin Lingsu felt a surge of joy; he hadn't expected that Ning Suwen had not set up the Gate of Earth and Jade Maiden Reversal Formation here. Ning Suwen cast an encouraging glance at Lin Lingsu and said, "At just twenty-five years old, you can command such a Divine General. This is already a miracle for our Dragon Tiger Mountain. If I go through with this, you will become my most outstanding disciple. You truly have not disappointed my expectations of you."
The more strange Ning Suwen's behavior became, the more fear it instilled in Lin Lingsu and Xu Suwen. It seemed that all aspects of the battle were under Ning Suwen's control, while Lin Lingsu and Xu Suwen felt like two mice being toyed with.
"Very well," Ning Suwen continued. "The Chinese Zhouyi Secret Arts have three styles: Taiyi Style, Qimen Technique, and Six Ren Method. Among these three, the most widely known and mysterious is undoubtedly the Qimen Technique. This is our school's Qimen Dunjia technique, which can only be practiced by the next generation of sect leaders. When you were fifteen, I took a risk against my ancestors' punishment and hastily taught you this Qimen Dunjia technique because I intended to cultivate you as my successor. But you were too eager; wanting to seize power so quickly has led you to this self-inflicted predicament."
"Then why have you delayed in teaching me the Five Elements Divine Escape?" Lin Lingsu replied coldly.
"There's no rush," Ning Suwen said calmly. "You are young and impetuous; your foundation is still shallow. Recklessly practicing such high-level secret arts will only lead you astray into an irreversible situation."
Lin Lingsu snorted coldly. "It's one thing to keep secrets for yourself; why all this?"
Ning Suwen chuckled softly. "Lin, you've often blamed me for not teaching you the Five Elements Divine Escape Technique. Well then, today I will teach it to you—watch closely!"
