Upon receiving the news that Liu Linglang had been given to Peng Bai, Wei Ning was filled with anxiety and prepared to rush to the Burning Corpse Forest overnight. Wang Tuozi scolded Wei Ning for being ungrateful, but Wei Ning feared that if things were delayed too long, Ding Ying would vanish into thin air. He could only repeatedly apologize to his master before hastily setting off. It wasn't until the second night that Wei Ning finally crossed through the dreadful Burning Corpse Forest and arrived at Peng Bai's home. 0

Peng Bai seemed unsurprised by Wei Ning's arrival. As soon as Wei Ning entered, he hurriedly asked, "Senior, is Liu here? If so, please return him to me; I have urgent matters." 0

Peng Bai glanced at the filthy Wei Ning, covered in crow droppings, and said sarcastically, "Did Wang Tuozi send you here? Wasn't it agreed upon already? I treat your eyes, and he gives me Liu Linglang. Is he trying to back out now?" 0

Wei Ning knew he was in the wrong and could only respond patiently, "Old senior, I appreciate your help with my eyes, but I truly have an urgent matter. Could you summon Liu for me? If he prefers to stay with you, I won't say a word. I just need to borrow the Red Pearl that contains Liu for a while; I promise to return it later. If Liu is willing to come with me, then I hope you can assist me. As for any requests you have, I will do my best to fulfill them." 0

"Too late," Peng Bai interrupted coldly. "That creature was accidentally killed by me, and the Red Pearl was accidentally shattered as well. You can leave now." 0

"What?" Wei Ning felt as if struck by lightning and stammered, "Senior, please don't joke like this..." 0

"I'm not joking. You're not welcome here; you can go." 0

"What about the spirit's remains? And the Red Pearl? Surely there are still some fragments left?" Knowing Peng Bai would likely evade responsibility, Wei Ning quickly pressed on. 0

Peng Bai scoffed, "I threw them all away... Just leave already; I want to sleep. There’s no guest room prepared for you here; sorry about that!" 0

With that, he turned and waved his sleeve dismissively. 0

Hearing this, Wei Ning became even more convinced that Peng Bai was deceiving him. However, if it came down to a confrontation over this matter, he knew he was in the wrong and felt reluctant to act aggressively. Moreover, Peng Bai's depth of power was uncertain; even his master seemed wary of him. Without knowing Liu Linglang's whereabouts and with forceful actions unlikely to yield results, an idea struck him. He put on a look of deep disappointment and said, "If that's the case, I have nothing more to say. I only hope you can properly guide the spirit onward. Farewell." 0

"Not seeing you off," Peng Bai replied coldly. 0

Wei Ning endured the foul stench in the Burning Corpse Forest, waiting for quite some time until it was completely dark before quietly making his way back. However, he discovered that Peng Bai was not home. Confused, Wei Ning activated his Yin-Yang Eye and faintly sensed a sinister aura emanating from the highest mountain in the Burning Corpse Forest. Peng Bai must be there, he thought to himself. He then opened his Yin Yuan Umbrella and followed, recalling Ding Ying, who had once sheltered under this umbrella, causing him to sigh involuntarily as he quickened his pace. 0

Navigating through the dense trees and the overwhelming stench of crow droppings, Wei Ning arrived at the foot of the mountain. Strangely, the mountain was completely bare, devoid of any crows. This was fortunate; if the crows had startled Peng Bai, his presence would have been revealed, and all his plans would have been in vain. As Wei Ning ventured further up the mountain, he stumbled upon a multitude of graves. The tombs appeared ancient and lacked any recent offerings, suggesting that this Mass Grave had long been abandoned. 0

Wei Ning's keen eyesight soon spotted Peng Bai's figure not far away. He quickly found a concealed spot and used the Yin Yuan Umbrella to hide himself, eager to observe what Peng Bai was up to. 0

Peng Bai stood before a grave, surrounded by fourteen Soul-Collecting Talismans, one sealing talisman, a section of Yellow Bamboo Tube, a piece of Earth Mountain Green Paper, three branches of Thatch, a Phoenix-Head Dagger, incense offerings, and other items. He lit the incense and offerings and burned seven of the Soul-Collecting Talismans. Kneeling barefoot with his palms pressed against the ground, he proclaimed loudly: “Wei Sui Liu Ding Yin Night Zi Time, Saman Sorcerer Peng Bai has come to this grave to collect your yin soul. Alas! You lived in this world with vibrant blood energy; why not mourn? Dying young is truly tragic. Oh wretched soul that wanders far and wide, I now collect you to return to the altar for nurturing, beneficial for summoning—returning your soul to rest eternally.” 0

Wei Ning's heart trembled as he thought: “This Peng Bai truly possesses an eclectic array of knowledge; not only does he know Exorcism Techniques and male-only sorcery but also modern medicine and even the wicked arts of a monk. I really cannot discern what his true background is.” 0

At that moment, Peng Bai moved again. He dug up two skeletal remains of children who had died young from the grave. After burning another seven Soul-Collecting Talismans in incantation, he performed a series of steps while muttering incantations. Using the Phoenix-Head Dagger, he extracted two leg bones from the child corpses—one from a boy on the left and one from a girl on the right—and placed them into the Yellow Bamboo Tube. He sealed the tube's opening with Earth Mountain Green Paper and tied it shut with three branches of Thatch. 0

Peng Bai's method resembled what Wei Ning had encountered with Ghost Raising Technique during his time at the Zhou family but differed significantly in details. Unable to identify what kind of wicked art this was, Wei Ning could only quietly observe Peng Bai's actions to see what else he had planned. 0

Once Peng Bai completed everything, he descended the mountain carrying the Yellow Bamboo Tube containing the child’s Spirit Bones and returned home. Wei Ning followed closely behind; thanks to his sharp eyesight, he maintained a considerable distance from Peng Bai. Despite being alert, Peng Bai seemed unaware that someone was trailing him. 0

Upon reaching home, Peng Bai did not close the door. Wei Ning stealthily positioned himself outside a window, quietly watching as Peng Bai moved about inside. 0

Peng Bai took out the Spirit Bones from the bamboo tube and washed them seven times with white liquor before using the Phoenix-Head Dagger to refine them slightly. He then wrapped them in yellow paper and retrieved a pre-prepared coffin from his sleeve. After burning these Spirit Bones completely, he packaged the bone powder neatly inside the coffin and affixed a nameplate before sealing it with talismans. He placed the coffin before an altar adorned with offerings such as talismans and toys for children; there was even a box of rouge for girls—evidently, Peng Bai had prepared everything well in advance. 0

Peng Bai produced three talismans and performed rituals at the altar. With his left hand forming a thunder seal and his right hand executing sword gestures, three talismans ignited spontaneously without wind. As he circled each talisman over the coffin three times until they turned to ash covering its surface, he shouted: “Earthly Four Directions! Two Yangs and Yin Sandman Sorcery! Great Dao! Child Boy and Girl! Return to my nurturing! Respond swiftly at this altar!” Reciting secret incantations seven times in succession, two wisps of green mist gradually emerged above the coffin before slowly taking shape into two exquisitely crafted children—one boy and one girl—dressed in white silk garments. Pointing at the coffin with his sword gesture, Peng Bai commanded: “Child Boy and Girl! Accompany me on my journey; cross bridges beside me; assist me in fulfilling my desires!” 0

The two children nodded in unison as Peng Bai turned around satisfied and left with his two spirits in tow. 0
