Wei Ning opened his eyes and found himself still by the Bottomless Pit. Beside him, Qiqi looked dazed, her face flushed as if she had just fallen asleep. Wei Ning quickly shook her awake. 0

Qiqi jolted, slowly coming to her senses. "What happened... what was going on just now?" 0

"Nothing happened, it's all over. Let's go back," Wei Ning replied calmly. 0

"What about the Three-Legged Golden Crow? Are we just leaving it?" Qiqi asked anxiously. 0

"We're not taking it," Wei Ning said. 0

"How can we? We finally found this place, and your eyes..." 0

"Can you not concern yourself with my matters?" Wei Ning interrupted her roughly, impatience creeping into his voice. "That's enough. I'm going back." Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away. 0

Qiqi fell silent. She had never seen Wei Ning so angry with her before. Being as clever as she was, she surely understood that something had happened to him; he simply didn't want to share it with her. A feeling she couldn't quite name welled up inside her, leaving her unsettled. 0

The two walked in silence all the way back, each retreating into their own thoughts. By evening, they each booked a room at an inn. 0

Inside her room, Qiqi fiddled with the remote control, unsure of which channel to watch. Her mood was quite troubled; she wanted to know what had happened to Wei Ning, but she also knew he would never tell her. 0

Could he really give up the chance to treat his eyes so easily? 0

What was wrong with him? Qiqi felt a surge of frustration as she randomly pressed buttons on the remote. Just then, the doorbell rang outside. She thought to herself, "So now he decides to come apologize? It's too late." 0

Qiqi opened the door to find a woman in white with long hair standing there. The woman was stunningly beautiful, and even Qiqi felt momentarily awed by her appearance, leading her to compare herself unfavorably. 0

"Hello, Sister Fang," the woman outside said politely. 0

"Who are you... how do you know me?" 0

Lin Lingsu replied coolly, "That's not the point. The important thing is this..." She produced a wooden box and handed it to Qiqi. "Inside is something Wei Ning needs. Please give it to him." 0

Qiqi studied the ethereal beauty of the woman before her and felt an unsettling sense that this person must have some unusual connection with Wei Ning. Given Wei Ning's foul mood today, it likely had something to do with her. Surely something had transpired between them while she was unconscious; it was just that Wei Ning didn't want to tell her. 0

"What is this?" 0

“Do you need the eye of the Three-Legged Golden Crow?” 0

“How do you have the eye of the Three-Legged Golden Crow?” Qiqi exclaimed. 0

Lin Lingsu replied calmly, “That’s not something you need to worry about. Just give this to him and help him heal his eye.” 0

“And if you want Wei Ning to accept this gift, don’t tell him it’s the eye of the Three-Legged Golden Crow, and definitely don’t mention who I am.” With that, Lin Lingsu turned and left. 0

Qiqi watched Lin Lingsu's departing figure, feeling a sense of loss. Could it be that Wei Ning had started to take his anger out on her because of Lin Lingsu? 0

The night passed without a word. The next morning, both of them tacitly avoided conversation as they took a carriage back to the Burning Corpse Forest. 0

Upon returning to the Burning Corpse Forest, Qiqi exchanged a glance with Peng Bai, and they walked into a study. Qiqi closed the door and pulled out the snake that had transformed from Peng San Po after her death, laying it on the ground. “I’ve done what you asked. We owe each other nothing now.” 0

Peng Bai stared at the snake's corpse for a moment before nodding. “It’s her. Even reduced to ashes, I would recognize her. Qiqi, you did well this time. I’m pleased.” 0

Qiqi snorted softly and didn’t respond. 0

Peng Bai sighed. “Qiqi, you know there are only two people I truly hate in this world: Wei Xianjun and that Old Ghost woman. I would love nothing more than to devour their flesh and drink their blood.” 0

“So, for revenge, you’re willing to sacrifice your own son?” 0

“You’re mistaken. It’s not a sacrifice; it’s about fulfillment. He is my son; I raised him. For me to ask him to sacrifice a little is only right. Wang Tuozi has Meng Ge lending him life, but I have no such luck. I had no choice but to sacrifice my precious son; otherwise, how could I ever hope to leave this place alive? Without the witch doll, how could I have killed that old madman myself?” 0

Qiqi stared at Peng Bai for a moment before saying slowly, “Sometimes, I really want to dig out your heart and see what color it is.” 0

Peng Bai smiled. “It certainly isn’t red, is it?” 0

A crow landed on the windowsill. Peng Bai reached out and caught it, then plucked out its eye and tossed it into his mouth. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth in a gruesome manner; he seemed to enjoy it immensely. “Regardless, today I’ve finally avenged myself for one thing, and there’s still one more thing regarding Wei. Let’s wait and see; you’ve kept me in this cursed place for thirty years now. Do you know how I’ve spent these thirty years? Do you know what it means to live worse than death?” 0

“I don’t know, but I do know that my time here hasn’t been particularly comfortable. So I want to leave.” 0

Peng Bai was taken aback. “How can you say that? Have you forgotten how you promised me? You said you would stay here with me for thirty years! Have you forgotten?” 0

Qiqi calmly said, "I haven't, and if I were to live, I would do so. But right now, I have some personal matters to attend to. Once I've taken care of them, it will take at least three or four years, or at most five or six years, before I return here to fulfill the promise between you and me." 0

Peng Bai asked, "What matters do you have?" 0

Qiqi sighed and replied slowly, "I'm a woman, and as a woman, I should get married eventually. I'm already twenty-five this year; it's time for me to have a man of my own—I'm getting married." 0

"Congratulations." 0

In another room, Wang Tuozi and Wei Ning were engaged in a heated argument. Wang Tuozi's face was ashen as he said, "I won't explain this matter, nor do I want to. If you bring it up again in the future, don't blame me for being rude!" 0

Wei Ning shook his head and said, "Master, could it be that everything she said is true? Do you really..." 0

"Nonsense!" Wang Tuozi slapped Wei Ning across the face, shaking with anger. "I won't allow you to mention this matter again. If you do, I'll make sure you regret it." 0

With a thud, Wei Ning knelt at Wang Tuozi's feet and pleaded, "Master, if we were truly in the wrong, we can apologize to them. If once isn't enough, we can go twice. As long as we sincerely apologize as master and disciple, they will surely forgive us..." 0

"Get lost!" Wang Tuozi kicked Wei Ning away and shouted angrily, "How did I end up with such a useless disciple? It seems that woman has completely clouded your judgment! Get out of my sight; I never want to see you again!" 0

"Master..." Wei Ning clung tightly to Wang Tuozi's leg, refusing to let go. 0
