In an instant, dark clouds surged and roiled, thunder rumbling ominously. Lightning flickered at the edges of the black clouds, roaring like a divine beast. Suddenly, a golden light broke through, enveloping Wei Ning. A massive, invisible shockwave radiated from Wei Ning's center, pushing outward and dispersing the Evil Energy, causing the horde of spirits to disintegrate into ashes. 0

With a deafening boom, the colossal tree was cleaved in half. Charred corpses rained down like a storm as the tree crashed to the ground, igniting in flames. The immense blaze illuminated the entire Ghost Valley. Seizing the chaos, Wei Ning swiftly picked up the Peach Wood Sword and grabbed Lin Lingsu, holding her tightly as he fled through the cave entrance. 0

Amidst the flames, a clear cry rang out as a golden crow soared upward and vanished into the sky. 0

At this moment, the sun was already high in the sky. 0

Wei Ning staggered three times before steadying himself and placing Lin Lingsu on the ground. It was then that he noticed his hands trembling uncontrollably, his fingers numb as if they no longer belonged to him. 0

Blood surged within him, and he couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of Black Blood onto Lin Lingsu's Black Shroud. 0

"I'm sorry for getting you dirty..." 0

Only then did Wei Ning realize that his right chest was completely blackened; Corpse Poison had begun to invade his body. He quickly took out Cinnabar from its bottle—still dry enough to use—and hurriedly applied it to his wound. He knew that if he didn't find a safe place to recuperate soon, he would surely suffer backlash from the Five Thunder Palm, with consequences beyond his control. 0

But Lin Lingsu was still there. 0

Under the blazing sun, if Lin Lingsu remained exposed for too long, she would undoubtedly perish and become a Zombie unrecognized by the Six Paths. 0

Wei Ning silently stood beside Lin Lingsu, holding up a Red Umbrella to shield her. His hands trembled so violently that it took him three attempts to finally open the umbrella. Yet his fingers could not close around it. He removed his shirt and forcefully tied the umbrella to his hand, standing motionless beside Lin Lingsu to protect her from the sun. 0

As time passed and the sun gradually moved westward, Wei Ning spoke not a word. He relied solely on his willpower to support his already exhausted body, standing like a spear beside Lin Lingsu—one living person and one lifeless body—petrified at the cave entrance, waiting for sunset. 0

Finally, as the last rays of sunlight dipped below the western mountains, Wei Ning let out a muffled groan and collapsed onto the ground. 0

He had exhausted himself far too much. 0

Yet he could not rest. Because Lin Lingsu was still there. 0

He had to continue carrying Lin Lingsu forward; he had already delayed too long. If he rested now and missed the right moment, Lin Lingsu might never return. 0

Wei Ning gritted his teeth, propping up the Red Umbrella as he struggled to stand. He took out the Soul Bell and gave it a shake. 0

"Yin People, make way; Yang Person, retreat." 0

With a cough, Wei Ning spat out another mouthful of Black Blood, soaking his chest. 0

Just as Wei Ning's figure disappeared from view in the cave, a White-Clad Woman slowly stirred. She had been quietly observing Wei Ning from the shadows at the cave entrance since he first emerged. As long as Wei Ning and Lin Lingsu had stood there, so had she. 0

"I was born before you, yet you have perished before me. Is it because I am now a wandering soul?" The White-Clad Woman sighed softly and vanished into the deeper darkness. 0

As Wei Ning walked, he regulated his breathing. After walking through the night and resting at Fortune Inn, he had temporarily suppressed the backlash from the Five Thunder Palm. However, he knew that he had merely managed to hold it back; once it struck, the damage to his body would double. 0

Wei Ning thought to himself: I'll wait until I ensure her safety before dealing with it. 0

As the Golden Crow sank in the west and the Jade Rabbit rose in the east, Wei Ning continued on his path as a Corpse Driver. By morning, he finally reached his destination. Strangely, the family did not seem prepared for either the God of Joy's altar or for mourning. Upon seeing Wei Ning arrive, a man in his thirties with gold-rimmed glasses merely regarded him coldly. 0

"Just leave it here." 0

"But..." Wei Ning began to speak. 0

"There’s no 'but.' We will handle it. Here’s your payment; you can go now." 0

"But..." Wei Ning wanted to say more, but realizing he had completed his task and that Lin Lingsu's family was dismissing him, he saw no point in staying any longer. He turned back for one last look at Lin Lingsu, knowing that this farewell might be indefinite. 0

A sharp pain pierced Wei Ning's heart as fresh blood surged up his throat. He quickly suppressed it with all his might. 0

Just as he stepped out the door, the man inside spoke again, "You can leave, but what about the Undying Bone?" 0

Wei Ning thought he must have misheard and paused to look back, only to suddenly realize that Lin Lingsu was gone. She had just been there—how could she disappear? 0

Undying Bone; this term had echoed in Wei Ning's ears multiple times in recent days. 0

"That's right, hand over the Undying Bone." Suddenly, two figures emerged from outside the door, blocking Wei Ning's path. 0

Wei Ning sensed that something was amiss and coldly replied, "You must have mistaken me for someone else; I don't know you." 0

One of the men, a short and chubby fellow in his twenties, chuckled and said, "Wei Ning, the only direct descendant of the Wei family from Chen Prefecture. We are not mistaken." 0

"And if I am?" 0

"Then it will be easier," said another man, also in his twenties but quite handsome. "Everyone knows that your Chen Prefecture Wei family possesses an Undying Bone. So, hand over the Undying Bone." 0

"You think I will just give it to you because you ask? On what grounds?" 0

"On what grounds?" The short and chubby man laughed again. "On this!" With a clap of his hands, more than twenty people suddenly surged out from the building, surrounding Wei Ning completely. 0

Wei Ning felt that everything seemed to have been meticulously planned; it was a trap, a conspiracy specifically targeting him. But when he glanced back at Lin Lingsu, there was no one there—only emptiness remained. 0

The handsome man interjected coldly, "We are not here to negotiate; we are informing you. You have two choices: either hand over the Undying Bone willingly and suffer only a lifelong disability—we promise not to take your name—or if you refuse, we will have no choice but to kill you for your bone." 0

Wei Ning's heart sank deeper; this was indeed a conspiracy. 0
