But his feet were still bound by long hair, and Wei Ning felt a surge of panic. He didn’t know what to do; he wondered if he had any sharp objects on him. In desperation, he tried to bite through the strands, but despite their fine appearance, the hair was incredibly resilient. After biting for a while, he realized he hadn’t managed to break a single strand. 0

The figure quickly darted behind the black curtain, rustling sounds emanating from within. When the person emerged, their face had completely transformed from that of a handsome man to that of a woman in her thirties, though the long hair remained unchanged. 0

“What should I do?” Wei Ning thought frantically. If things went wrong, both he and Lin Lingsu would fall victim to this monster… The image of the severed head he had seen earlier flashed in his mind, sending a wave of nausea through him. 0

The man—now a woman—approached Wei Ning step by step, her eyes glazed over. “I finally found you,” she murmured. “I finally found you.” 0

Suddenly, a voice rang out, “Friend, where is your head?” 0

The figure halted, slowly turning her head. To Wei Ning’s horror, she lifted her own head off and held it in front of her chest, glancing left and right before suddenly tossing it aside. The severed head let out a chilling cry, “This isn’t my head! This isn’t my head! Where is my head?” 0

She rushed over to the table and picked up the head from Wei Ning’s bowl, placing it atop her neck for comparison before discarding it again. “Where is my head? Where is my head?” 0

The woman dashed back to the black curtain and violently tore down all the dark fabric surrounding the room. To Wei Ning's shock, he saw that the walls were lined with heads resting on wooden racks—some fresh and dripping with blood, others darkened and unrecognizable from being there for who knows how long. She picked up one head and held it against her neck for comparison before tossing it aside again. 0

“Where is my head? Where is my head?” The heads on the ground began to wail in unison, their voices echoing like night owls in the room, cutting through the air like blades against porcelain, making Wei Ning’s heart ache. 0

Wang Tuozi approached Wei Ning’s side and whispered, “We’ll settle this later.” He pulled out Five Emperor Coins from his hand, and suddenly five beams of light enveloped Wei Ning. The long hair binding him and Lin Lingsu quickly receded. Wang Tuozi swiftly tucked Lin Lingsu under his arm and lifted Wei Ning as well. Until now, Wei Ning had been driven by a protective instinct for Lin Lingsu; however, with Wang Tuozi’s arrival, his taut nerves relaxed at once and he fainted. 0

When Wei Ning awoke, he found himself lying on a bed. Seeing him awake, Wang Tuozi picked up a large bowl in one hand while conjuring a talisman with the other that ignited in the wind. “Heavenly light shines bright; as the sun rises in the east, banish nightmares and dispel misfortune,” Wang Tuozi chanted. Once the talisman burned out completely, he placed it into the bowl and handed it to Wei Ning. “Drink this.” 0

“Oh,” Wei Ning said as he tilted his head back and drank it down. 0

He remembered Lin Lingsu then and looked around anxiously. “Where is she?” 0

"Wang Tuozi calmly said, 'I had someone send her back early this morning. Don't worry, I gave her the Dream Severing Spell. She'll be fine after a few days of rest—but I can't guarantee anything after that.' 0

'What do you mean?' 0

Wang Tuozi sneered, 'You two are quite bold, running off to that place where Evil Spirits gather in the dead of night. If I hadn't noticed something was off with you last night and pretended to go to bed early, you might have...' 0

Wei Ning quickly lowered his head and obediently said, 'Master, I won't dare to do it again.' 0

'There will be a next time?' 0

'I really won't dare again. It won't happen again, I promise.' 0

Wang Tuozi huffed, 'Well, you can't be entirely blamed. That thing has probably had its sights on you for a long time. After I ruined its plans last time, it likely sought you out on purpose this time—but you can rest easy now; it won't come after you again.' 0

'Why not?' 0

'Because it will only seek out that Girl from now on.' 0

Wei Ning blurted out, 'That won't do! Master, you have to think of a way!' 0

Wang Tuozi replied, 'Isn't this just perfect? This way, it won't come looking for you anymore. Who told that girl to carelessly reveal her home and attract the Corpse Ghost?' 0

Wei Ning nudged Wang Tuozi's arm and pleaded, 'Master, please help me out here.' 0

Wang Tuozi sighed and said, 'It's not that I don't want to help. The Corpse Ghost isn't hard to deal with; the key issue is... sigh, I can handle one Corpse Ghost, but I can't afford to offend an entire Corpse Demon clan.'" 0

“Corpse Demon?” 0

When the name Corpse Demon was mentioned, a hint of fear flashed across Wang Tuozi's face. He said, “In any case, we shouldn’t get involved in this matter, nor can we. If at that time he hadn’t told Corpse Ghost her name like you did, I might have had a way. But now that she has agreed, it means she has signed a contract with the entire Corpse Demon. Sigh, she is doomed!” 0

Wei Ning exclaimed anxiously, “Is there really no way at all?” 0

Wang Tuozi thought for a moment. “Well, it’s not entirely hopeless…” 0

Hearing this glimmer of hope, Wei Ning quickly grabbed Wang Tuozi and said, “Master, she is innocent, so please, you must save her no matter what.” 0

Wang Tuozi blinked and looked at Wei Ning curiously. “Why are you so concerned about her? You’re not even related.” 0

For a moment, Wei Ning couldn’t find an answer. 0

Understanding Wei Ning’s kind nature and not wanting to push him too hard, Wang Tuozi changed the subject. “Tomorrow, come with me to the Ghost Market. It’s been a while since I last went, and my supplies are running low. I need to restock.” 0

“Ghost Market? What kind of place is that? Is it fun?” 0

“You’ll find out when you go. Once we return from the Ghost Market, I’ll think of a way to see if I can save this Girl. However, we only have seven days. After seven days, that Corpse Ghost will stick to that Girl like a stubborn plaster. If we’re late, even the Great Immortal won’t be able to help.” 0
