The howling winds shrouded the world, and the arrival of the Snowstorm and Typhoon plunged this coastal city into a terrifying crisis.
Even the Zombies, who usually wandered about like perpetual motion machines, had found their hiding spots, obediently retreating into buildings.
In the face of such a terrifying disaster, individual strength was pushed to its limits; almost no one could resist.
So when Liu Mengying's call to assemble was issued, everyone was taken aback.
Leaving the base in such conditions was akin to seeking death, wasn't it?
Under the night sky, the fierce winds whipped Liu Mengying's long hair.
She stood tall on the highest steps, coldly surveying the warriors gathered below. Her indifferent voice echoed throughout the square without the need for amplification.
"According to intelligence reports, General Ban Guozhi, whom you all know, is currently in crisis and may have been attacked by Zombies. I need a thousand troops to accompany me for rescue... Those willing to join me, step forward."
"However, you must understand that in this harsh environment, with the storm approaching, I cannot guarantee your safety from the Typhoon's onslaught. Moreover, we may also face those Fifth-Stage Zombies. If we leave this time, be prepared for the possibility of death in battle."
"Starting now, those with parents or families should stay behind. Anyone willing to set out with me, take a step forward!"
With a rustle—
In an organized manner, all the soldiers stepped forward simultaneously without hesitation.
"We are willing to follow the General! A hundred deaths would be worth it!"
The resounding roar echoed through the skies. The overwhelming morale was astonishing.
Yet Liu Mengying looked at them coldly and repeated her words once more.
"I'll say it again, those with families, stay where you are! Do you not understand? The rest of you, take a step forward if you're willing to follow me!"
A group of people hesitated, but more stepped forward in unison, shouting loudly.
"Please, General, give the orders!"
Rain began to fall from the sky.
The Fury of Typhoon even shredded the empty dark clouds, bringing a torrential downpour that should not have appeared in this wintry season to Jiang Hai.
In the already freezing temperatures, the rain soaked through their clothes, seeping the cold into their very bones.
Liu Mengying strode away and turned to board the command vehicle parked to one side.
"All Troops Attack!"
…………
………………
"Scatter! Sakura Thousand!"
With the loud shout of the Blonde Boy, beautiful pink blades like cherry blossoms danced in the night sky, transforming into the roaring Sakura Dragon as it charged toward the enemy ahead.
Beside him, Chen Xiaofeng glanced over and burst into laughter.
"Egio, didn't you claim to be an assassin? Why aren't you using your assassin abilities?"
The Blonde Boy, resembling a Fifth-Stage Zombie, shot him a glare. "This is the power of an assassin!"
"Hahahahaha... You're joking!"
Chen Xiaofeng burst into laughter. "When I was young, I watched Animated Series too. Back then, the animations produced by Neon Country were all the rage. This is clearly the power of the Grim Reaper, right? Do you think just because I'm older, I haven't seen any Animated Series? Trying to fool me?"
After being exposed, Egio became furious.
If it had been one of his subordinates who dared to reveal his secret, he would have torn them apart without hesitation. Or if it had been some human, he would have already dismembered them.
But the one who called him out was a fellow Fifth-Stage Zombie, not much weaker than himself, which left Egio feeling helpless; he couldn't even vent his frustration.
He roared in embarrassment and anger, unleashing all his fury on the convoy stationed on the highway.
"I just thought it looked cool! Is it wrong to use this kind of ability? Chen Xiaofeng, you’re meddling too much!"
Egio bellowed as a brilliant red light suddenly erupted behind him, radiating terrifying heat forward.
"All Things in Nature, Turn to Dust! Flowing Blade Like Fire! Dust to Dust! Blades of Fire!"
A horrific flame ignited from the ground and rapidly spread toward the entrenched army.
A fierce wind howled from afar, intensifying the blaze even further.
Standing with his arms crossed on top of a tall streetlight pole by the highway, Chen Xiaofeng watched Egio's grand offensive with a mix of envy and admiration as he clicked his tongue.
"Manifesting fantasies... Tsk... That really is a flashy and powerful ability."
He clapped his hands and soared into the air from the lamppost.
"Although my abilities aren't as flashy and cool, when it comes to lethality, I, Chen Xiaofeng, have never feared anyone."
"Roar! Wind Wolf King!"
Amidst the piercing roar, a fierce wind gathered from all directions, propelling this Fifth-Stage Zombie towards the convoy that was holding its ground on the road.
The ability to control the wind was greatly enhanced in this stormy weather, and the increasingly heavy humidity in the air made Chen Xiaofeng unable to contain his laughter.
"Thirty years in the east, thirty years in the west. Ban Guozhi, did you ever think that when you mocked and scorned me back at your base, you would end up like this?"
The power of the wind transformed into a massive curtain above, taking shape under Chen Xiaofeng's control as a roaring giant wolf.
Once that giant wolf descended, even the concrete ground would be torn apart.
On the highway, Ban Guozhi shouted angrily.
"Chen Xiaofeng! Egio! Have you both gone mad? How dare you attack my convoy? Aren't you afraid Liu Mengying will raid your lair?"
The Blonde Boy rode on a surge of flames, charging alongside Chen Xiaofeng who commanded the wind, both wearing mocking smirks on their faces.
"Liu Mengying? Ice Queen? Hahaha... We used to give her some leeway because our powers were fragmented. Now that all our Fifth-Stage Zombies are gathered together, if she dares, let her come!"
"Exactly. If she has the guts, let her come find us. Egio has long been tired of that woman."
The wind and flames surged forward. A thunderous roar erupted from the convoy as the Four Tanks at the front unleashed a terrifying power from their cannons.
Then a shadow flashed by.
Silently, the fired bullet froze in mid-air, then slowly fell down, losing all its threat.
Ban Guozhi's face was filled with astonishment.
"Vector Control? You are Lengku?"
Without a sound, a cold and indifferent figure appeared in the center of the road.
"Correct. But there is no prize."
He stood there coldly, like the most solid barrier, effortlessly neutralizing any attacks that came his way.
Seeing Ban Guozhi's shocked expression, Chen Xiaofeng laughed heartily.
"Sending you off to the afterlife, Old Man Ban! Hahahahahaha..."
Amidst Chen Xiaofeng's joyous laughter, a massive Wind Wolf descended, heading towards the convoy below.
The bullets fired simultaneously by the five hundred warriors froze silently in mid-air after traveling a certain distance, then lost all their momentum and fell down.
Under the power of the Fifth-Stage Zombie Lich's Vector Control ability, these weapons that relied on kinetic energy to inflict damage lost all their effectiveness.
"Fog Bomb! Bring me the Fog Bomb! Drive them back!"
Ban Guozhi roared from within the convoy. He threw out dozens of large bombs from the convoy, which did not rely on explosive power for lethality. However, they possessed a strong restraining capability against the Fifth-Stage Zombies.
The exploding Fog Bomb released a thin layer of mist, enveloping the convoy in a shroud of fog.
As the once confident Chen Xiaofeng and the other Zombies saw the mist, their expressions changed dramatically, and they quickly retreated.
"Damn it! You actually brought so many Fog Bombs? Are you planning to go to war? And didn't this fellow escape without permission? Bringing so many Fog Bombs with you, aren't you afraid Liu Mengying will blame you?"
They shouted as they dodged the mist, wary of letting it touch them.
Meanwhile, Ban Guozhi in the fog laughed triumphantly.
"Isn't it normal to keep a few tricks up your sleeve? When you're out and about, safety comes first. I believe that Liu Family girl won't hold it against me for bringing some Fog Bombs for self-defense."
As long as they stood within the mist, Ban Guozhi and his group were practically invincible.
Liu Mengying, sensing something was off, would surely rush to their aid.
When that happened, faced with the terror of the Ice Queen, these Fifth-Stage Zombies would undoubtedly flee in panic.
"Hahaha... Chen Xiaofeng, weren't you feeling proud? Show me how proud you can be! I'm standing right here in the mist; if you hate me so much, come on over! If you dare step inside, I won't fight back—do whatever you want... Hahaha... Do you dare come in?"
Chen Xiaofeng spat in frustration, his face filled with annoyance.
"Don't get too cocky. Once the mist clears, I'll deal with you properly. I don't believe you can hide in there forever like a coward!"
Ban Guozhi laughed heartily from within the fog.
"Who said I plan to stay in the mist forever? That Liu Family girl will be here soon, and when she arrives, you'll all be dead!"
At that moment, a girl's scream suddenly pierced through the fog.
"Not good! Sister Xin'er has been captured!"
Ban Guozhi's laughter came to an abrupt halt, quickly replaced by shock and anger.
"What happened? The Second Daughter of the Liu Family has been taken? How is that possible? Who took her? We're in the fog right now!"
Now it was Chen Xiaofeng's turn to burst into laughter.
"Hahahahaha... Ban Guozhi, did you not see this coming? Along with us this time are Zhao Zifeng and Zhuo Aili. With their abilities combined, who in this world can escape from them? Hahahaha... Just stay hidden in the fog like a turtle; we are about to achieve a great victory!"
Amidst Chen Xiaofeng's boisterous laughter, a group of Zombies turned and left, no longer paying attention to the convoy shrouded in mist.
It was only then that Ban Guozhi realized the purpose of this gathering of Fifth-Stage Zombies, and he was filled with both shock and rage.
"Your target is the Second Daughter of the Liu Family?"
But by then, it was already too late.
He could only stand there in the fog, filled with fury as he watched the retreating figures of the Zombies, gritting his teeth yet powerless to do anything. (To be continued...)
