"Thank you, Brother Donglin."
The girl's voice was gentle and affectionate, forming a stark contrast to her previous exuberance.
She stood quietly at the top of the tower, gazing tenderly at Chu Donglin, her eyes shimmering as if filled with tears.
With a smile, she brushed her long hair, which had been tousled by the fierce wind, and slowly took a few steps back until she reached the edge of the tower.
Her body pressed against the cold railing; beyond it lay an unfathomable cliff. It was only then that she stopped.
With her hands clasped over her abdomen and a warm, affectionate smile on her face, she bent slightly in a courteous bow.
"Really, thank you so much, Brother Donglin."
"It’s truly wonderful to have met you in this lifetime."
As the girl softly whispered, a melodious Alarm Bell suddenly rang out from the base not far away.
The ethereal and distant sound of the Alarm Bell spread through the night, resonating far in this quiet evening, reaching even the lofty heights of the tower.
It was the midnight chime of the Alarm Bell, reminding the residents within the base that it was time to rest and signaling the arrival of something new.
Amidst the distant ringing of the Alarm Bell, the girl atop the tower lifted her head to look at Chu Donglin, smiling lightly.
"Brother Donglin, it's twelve o'clock."
"Mm." Chu Donglin nodded but remained standing there silently, making no move.
The girl smiled sweetly and happily, gazing dreamily at Chu Donglin as she murmured.
"The time has come~"
"Mm."
"Then let's part ways here... just as we agreed."
Red blood slowly trickled from the corner of the girl's eye, leaving a crimson tear mark on her face. It was a sight that struck the heart.
Yet the girl seemed oblivious. She continued to gaze tenderly and affectionately at Chu Donglin, as if she wanted to engrave his face into her soul, never to forget.
Her body began to undergo some changes.
Red patterns slowly emerged from Snow White's jade-like skin, intertwining to form magical runes that covered her entire body.
In the dim light of the night, those red runes shimmered with a glamorous glow, giving the smiling girl an unusual beauty that only a witch could possess.
Her back gently swelled and then burst open. A pair of black wings extended from behind her.
With a rustling sound—
The trembling black wings unfurled, and several feathers gently fell, disappearing into the unknown with the wind.
Her form had changed drastically; there was no trace left of her former humanity.
She resembled an enchanting witch crawling out from the depths of hell, eerie and sinister.
If it weren't for the gentle gaze that held a familiar affection for Chu Donglin, the person before him bore almost no resemblance to the girl named Yumo Sha.
She smiled softly, looking tenderly at Chu Donglin, murmuring,
"Actually, you knew all along, didn't you..."
"The girl named Yumo Sha has already turned into a monster."
She gazed dreamily at Chu Donglin's face, smiling bitterly. Red tears flowed from her eyes, leaving two glamorous streaks of blood on her cheeks.
"As for me, I never expected that the Evil God they wanted to kill would be my dearest Brother Donglin... Hehe... How could Nyarlathotep and Chu Donglin be linked together?"
She shook her head, seemingly in pain, struggling to accept this reality, forcing a bitter smile.
"When I came here, I had already made up my mind to be a good monster. Even if it meant mingling with them, as long as I could live well, that would be enough... But if the target is you, Brother Donglin, how can I bring myself to do it?"
She gazed dreamily at Chu Donglin, blood beginning to trickle from the corner of her mouth.
"The girl named Yumo Sha had her heart stolen by you long ago; how could she truly harm you?"
The magical patterns on her skin began to slowly crack open. Red blood burst forth from the fissures, a shocking sight as Glamorous blood stained the girl's dress.
Yet she seemed oblivious.
She simply stared at Chu Donglin's face, filled with longing and reluctance, happiness and sweetness.
"Although it's painful to think that the enemy is Brother Donglin, I'm really happy tonight... To meet you here and to do what I've always wanted to do—spend a sweet night together as a couple—Sasha is already very satisfied."
The cracks on her skin widened, and more blood spilled out.
The girl's white dress was completely soaked in red, but she continued to smile gently, happily, her eyes crescent-shaped as she murmured.
"Though there are still many things I want to do together and more dreams that need your company, it doesn't matter anymore."
She smiled at Chu Donglin, the black feathers on her wings beginning to fall away.
"One shouldn't be too greedy. Those dreams that can no longer be realized will just become beautiful memories. Being able to eat delicious food with Donglin Brother and watch the stars in the night sky from a tall building makes Sasha very happy."
"Even though there are no stars tonight..."
She smiled sweetly, lifting her head to look at the clouds in the night sky. Her expression of happiness seemed as if she were seeing a beautiful scene filled with twinkling stars.
The wind blew down from above, hastening the girl's disintegration.
In the swirling gusts, the gentle smile of the girl before him gave an impression that she could fall apart at any moment.
Chu Donglin suddenly raised his right hand.
"I'll help you."
In the palm of his right hand, the blood-red thread of warning had gradually faded, symbolizing the diminishing threat.
As he lifted his hand, a vast ocean of Mental Power spread outwards, instantly enveloping the entire boundless wilderness.
Boom—
The ground began to tremble with Madness.
It shook violently like an earthquake. Thousands of meters away in the Snowy Wasteland, the soil suddenly shot up into the sky, transforming into a roaring Earth Dragon that crashed heavily into the night sky above.
The ear-splitting roar could be heard even from the high tower thousands of meters away.
The terrifying rumble awakened countless people from their dreams.
They rushed out of their houses, looking towards the source of the shaking and roaring.
Then they stood there, dumbfounded.
Under the dark sky, a massive black shadow surged up from the wilderness thousands of meters away from the base, resembling a roaring giant dragon as it charged towards the thick dark clouds above.
At an altitude of over a thousand meters, it was a height rarely reached by humans; aside from the clouds, even birds seldom ventured here.
Thick clouds accumulated in this place obscured the stars in the night sky, accompanied by an indescribable Silence as Snow White flakes fell gently.
However, on this night, this quiet place that had never been trodden upon was shattered by a terrifying sound. The enormous Earth Dragon soared upward, its massive body filled with countless stones and soil that rolled and scraped against each other, piercing through the sea of clouds.
And then...
Boom—
A piercing explosion echoed as the top of the Earth Dragon shattered within the clouds, sending countless fragments of earth and stone spiraling outward with a tremendous shockwave, creating a massive hole in the thick dark clouds.
From the sky, a rain of dirt and stones began to fall.
Amidst the continuous rumbling and explosive sounds from the clouds, the powerful shockwave spread outwards, further enlarging the gaping hole in the sea of clouds.
Minutes later, as the colossal Earth Dragon collapsed, what appeared before everyone was a vast chasm forcibly carved out of the boundless cloud sea.
The cool moonlight and starlight streamed through the opening, piercing through the pitch-black night and illuminating the endless Snowfield below, casting light upon the towering base. It resembled a curtain woven from starlight, starkly contrasting with the surrounding darkness shrouded in thick clouds.
Gazing at the brilliant stars beyond the opening, bathed in the cool glow of moonlight and starlight, a look of awe spread across the girl's face.
"How beautiful..."
She turned her head to look at Chu Donglin, smiling sweetly.
Though her entire body was stained red with blood, when she smiled, it seemed as if all colors brightened at that moment.
"Thank you, Donglin Brother."
The girl smiled gratefully, her wings not only shedding feathers but beginning to disintegrate into flesh and blood.
Amidst the drifting crimson, a shadow suddenly surged up from below the tower.
A tall figure was cloaked in a long black coat, its cloak billowing wildly in the fierce wind.
In his hand, he wielded a sharp black scythe, his face adorned with a madly joyful grin as he lunged toward the unsuspecting girl with a deadly strike.
"Die! Servant of Cthulhu!"
He laughed maniacally; his sudden attack was so unexpected that it could turn anyone's face pale with fear.
However, at his appearance, neither the girl nor Chu Donglin showed any sign of surprise.
They remained standing there.
The sharp Reaper's Scythe was enormous and menacing, its blade slicing through the air with a chilling gleam as it swung violently towards the girl's neck.
However, just as the blade was about to reach her, it suddenly halted.
It was as if the entire space had frozen in time; the massive Reaper's Scythe hung suspended in mid-air, while the man, with a look of astonishment, struggled to wield it, yet the scythe remained utterly still.
In his shock, Chu Donglin lifted his head and glanced at him, shaking his head.
"Isn't it better to stay obediently in the darkness? Why come out to seek death?"
He casually waved his hand, and the black Reaper's Scythe spun in the air. In a flash of sharp cold light, it turned on its own master, severing him cleanly in two.
Amidst the splattering blood, a headless corpse fell from the sky.
Along with it descended the bloodied scythe and the head of the man, frozen in an expression of disbelief. (To be continued...)
