The oppressive heat in my chest was becoming increasingly unbearable, and the buzzing noise in my ears grew louder and more jarring, as if someone was desperately trying to speak to me but couldn't get close.
I initially didn't want that group of Malicious People to know about my condition, but when I woke up this morning and sat on the edge of the bed, clutching my chest in discomfort for a long time, I couldn't hide it any longer.
The noise in my ears became intolerable, and my brows must have been tightly furrowed, my expression undoubtedly grim. That's when Chen Lao Wu, who came in to bring me food, noticed me.
Chen Lao Wu was sent by those people to monitor me. On the surface, he appeared to be helping me by bringing meals while I was still recovering, but I knew that was just a pretense.
They were eager to consume me; how could they possibly allow me to wander freely? What if I seized the opportunity to escape? So they were determined not to loosen their grip on me.
Seeing my distress, Chen Lao Wu hurriedly went to call the doctor.
I turned to the doctor and said, "Doctor, I'm feeling unwell. I want to go outside for a walk."
The doctor refused. He frowned at me for a long time before leaving, leaving only Chen Lao Wu to watch over me, seemingly afraid I might run away.
Of course he was afraid I would escape.
I remained still, sitting on the hospital bed waiting for them to decide what to do with me.
Because I knew that for someone like me, who was considered a delicacy, they would never let go easily; running away would only be a waste of time.
And besides, I wasn't afraid of them.
Sure enough, the doctor in the white coat brought an old man with him as they slowly approached.
The old man had a fierce look in his eyes, as if he feared I would see through him. He simply lowered his head, glancing at me from the side of his glasses.
"Doctor," he said, "you seem quite well today."
"Yes," I replied.
"Mr. Pan," the doctor continued, "I invited Mr. He here today mainly to examine you. Our medical facilities are too poor to conduct a complete check-up, and if anything were to go wrong, only traditional Chinese medicine might be able to assess your condition."
"That's fine!" I said.
He explained so much, thinking I believed it all. But how could I not know that this old man was disguised as the Executioner?
This old fellow had come this time merely under the pretense of taking my pulse, to gauge my condition: for this favor, he would surely want a share of the spoils later.
I wasn't afraid of their malicious schemes. Although I didn't eat people, my courage was greater than theirs... Of course, my physical strength surpassed theirs as well.
I extended my fists towards the old man, eager to see how he would respond.
The old man sat there with his eyes closed. After feeling around for a while and remaining dazed for some time, he finally opened his ghostly eyes and said, "Don't think too much; just rest quietly for a few days, and you'll be fine."
Don't think too much? Rest quietly? If I got fat, they would naturally have more to feast on.
But what benefit would that bring me? How could I possibly be "fine"? It was clearly them who would benefit! This group wanted to eat me while being sneaky about it, trying to cover their tracks and not daring to act directly—it was truly laughable.
The more I thought about it, the harder it became to contain my laughter. I burst out laughing heartily because I knew that within that laughter lay courage and righteousness, devoid of weakness or fear.
The old man and the doctor across from me displayed expressions of terror, subdued by my courage and righteousness.
But I knew that the more courage I showed, the more they wanted to devour me. They wanted to consume me and bask in the glow of my bravery... these malicious fellows!
The old man stepped out the door, and after walking a short distance, he whispered to the doctor, "Hurry up and eat!"
The doctor nodded, indicating his understanding.
So you’re in on it too! This was a significant discovery; although unexpected, upon reflection, it was somewhat anticipated. I had thought this seemingly righteous doctor was treating me well, rarely showing any malicious intent in his eyes. Yet here he was, part of the cannibalistic crowd.
Indeed, I should not have expected too much from these malicious people.
The heat in my chest was becoming increasingly unbearable... Did these wicked fellows really do nothing to me?
No matter how I thought about it, an unsettling feeling lingered.

January 16
I woke up very late today; last night, I heard some strange noises while trying to sleep.
Then I had a nightmare.
Under the pitch-black night sky, there was not a single soul in sight.
When I looked up, I saw a Green Moon...
How could the moon be green?
Before I could comprehend what was happening, a massive creature leaped down from the moon.
At first, it was an Ugly Giant that roared incessantly, with a gigantic Tentacle where its face should have been, looking utterly terrifying.
Then it suddenly transformed, and before I could even see its true form, I was jolted awake from the nightmare by a deep sense of fear.
As I woke up, I seemed to hear a series of Laughter ringing in my ears... Was it just my imagination? When I tried to listen closely, however, there was nothing to be heard.
This nightmare left me emotionally unstable throughout the day, but the good news was that the Strange Noises that had echoed in my ears finally faded away, and my body felt much better.
Only the oppressive heat in my chest continued to torment me, as if it wouldn't relent until it had killed me. Just like those Malicious People in this camp.
I finally took the doctor's advice and went out for a walk; naturally, Chen Lao Wu followed closely behind me.
Those Malicious People remained as vigilant as ever, fearful that I might escape, leaving me no opportunity at all.
I wandered the streets wearily, yearning for the Presence of Light.
I wanted to see those two messengers.
However, they were the sisters of Chu Donglin, and it seemed that Chu Donglin did not live in the camp. Thinking about it, the two maidens probably did not reside in the camp either.
Perhaps it was precisely because of this that the two maidens kept their distance from the group of Malicious People, allowing them to remain untainted and preserve their beautiful innocence.
In this light, that scoundrel named Chu Donglin had finally done something good, even if it was not an act he intended to perform.
While on the street, I unexpectedly encountered Ban Qingya.
People around her referred to her as the owner of this camp. She was undeniably a beautiful woman, but… hum! What good could the leader of a group of vicious man-eating demons be? Just a pretty facade.
No matter how beautiful she looked or how well she hid her true self, I could see through the mask of her smile to the malicious gaze filled with predatory intent behind it—I knew she wanted to devour me.
I feared that when I turned my head, she would be using her eyes to inquire about my situation with Chen Lao Wu.
Clearly wanting to eat people but too cowardly to rush over immediately… this group of Malicious People truly made me feel disgusted.
I scoffed lightly, pretending not to notice her exchange of glances with Chen Lao Wu, and walked away directly.
Rather than waste my time on this old hag, I would rather seek out my beautiful and pure maidens.
Such innocent beauty was the most precious thing in this world. (To be continued...)
