Liu Xiner's uncle lived on Tree Pattern Street, a high-end residential area in Wocheng. 0

The residents in the area all lived in villas, similar to the place where Chu Donglin had hidden before he became a Zombie. 0

In such an area, due to the sparse population, the number and density of Zombies were very low. As long as Survivors did not act recklessly, there was basically little danger. 0

Therefore, as long as Liu Xiner's uncle and his family did not make foolish decisions and they themselves had not turned into Zombies, there was still hope for survival. 0

However, if misfortune struck them and they did not get eaten or scratched by a Zombie but instead turned into Zombies themselves, it would be hard to blame anyone. 0

Chu Donglin took Liu Xiner to take a look, merely fulfilling his duty. 0

Although this fellow had deep-seated grievances with Chu Donglin, he was still Liu Xiner's uncle; blood was thicker than water, and there were feelings involved. 0

If Liu Xiner had the ability to check on him but chose to avoid it, based on what Chu Donglin knew about this girl, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life. 0

Considering this kind-hearted girl, Chu Donglin ultimately took the initiative to propose taking Liu Xiner to have a look. 0

Often, just checking in on someone and understanding their situation carries a different significance than completely ignoring them. 0

However, when the motorcycle stopped at the entrance of the area, Chu Donglin's brow furrowed. 0

Throughout their journey, he had not seen a single Mutated Zombie on the two streets nearby; this situation was extremely abnormal. 0

There were only two possibilities for such a scenario: first, there could be a Survivor camp nearby where the Survivors had cleared out all the Mutated Zombies for safety. 0

Second, there might be a powerful Mutated Zombie in the vicinity that had hunted down all the others, using them as food for its evolution. 0

If it was the first situation, that would be fine. But if it was the second... 0

Chu Donglin instinctively tightened his grip on the knife handle, finding himself in a bit of a predicament. 0

He couldn't reveal his identity as a Zombie in front of Liu Xiner, which meant he couldn't use his abilities, effectively reducing his combat power by more than half. 0

In this situation, encountering a powerful Second Stage Mutated Zombie would not be a pleasant experience. 0

"Brother-in-law, stay calm..." 0

Liu Xiner gently tugged at Chu Donglin's sleeve, whispering a reminder. 0

If Chu Donglin could sense something was off, she certainly could too. 0

The girl instinctively tightened her grip on the handgun in her arms, vigilantly scanning the surroundings, wary of a Mutated Zombie suddenly appearing from some corner. 0

This gun had been given to her by Ban Qingya for self-defense before they set out. 0

In addition to that, she also had sharp knives. In battles against Zombies, the effectiveness of ordinary firearms often paled in comparison to that of knives. 0

As for Chu Donglin, he had also received a gift from Ban Qingya; however, he didn't think much of the low-quality civilian firearm. 0

He accepted it on the surface but had no intention of using it at all. 0

Amidst the girl's worried reminders, Chu Donglin patted her shoulder and reassured her, "It's fine. There's no need to worry. If it's a Second Stage Zombie, we just need to stay within the sunlight." 0

With that, Chu Donglin got out of the car and pushed open the iron gate of the area before riding his motorcycle inside. "Second Stage Zombies fear sunlight; First Stage Zombies that don't fear sunlight aren't a threat to me." 0

Ordinary First Stage Zombies were almost no different from regular people aside from their immense strength. 0

Even the powerful First-Stage Zombie could not match a human wielding a weapon, let alone a Second-Stage Zombie holding one—this was the confidence that allowed Chu Donglin to agree to take Liu Xiner across the city. 0

Now, just over two months since the apocalypse began, based on Chu Donglin's understanding of the evolution of Mutated Zombies, it was safe to say that the strongest Zombies currently were only at the Second Stage. 0

Monsters like the Tyrant from before were completely beyond reason. 0

With his Second Stage abilities and in a situation where White Tier Two Zombies dared not appear, Chu Donglin could roam freely throughout the city. 0

Upon entering the area, it was evident that this was indeed a high-end residential district exclusive to the wealthy; the decorations within were quite beautiful. 0

Pavilions and towers dotted the landscape, with lush trees surrounding them. If it weren't for the pool of filthy water and corpses marring the view, it would almost resemble a park. 0

Unfortunately, with the absence of human maintenance, many facilities in the area were already covered in dust. 0

Even the once-clear lake had been tainted by dirty Bloodstains, turning into a disgusting pool of stagnant water, with some decomposing bodies floating on top, emitting a foul odor. 0

However, Chu Donglin knew that those bodies drifting in the water were actually Zombies. 0

In this world overrun by Zombies, fresh corpses simply could not last long. 0

If someone truly mistook those floating Zombies for real corpses, then as they approached the lakeside, these "bodies" would undoubtedly provide quite a surprise. 0

It was noon now; although it was early autumn, the sun's rays remained fierce. 0

The shadows of trees cast dappled light on the asphalt road within the area, swaying gently with the wind. 0

Five minutes later, Chu Donglin's motorcycle came to a stop in front of a villa. 0

The two people in the vehicle exchanged a glance before stepping off the motorcycle, gripping their weapons tightly as they approached the front door of the villa. 0

The iron gate loomed like a prison bar, allowing a clear view of the scene inside the villa. The empty and silent house showed no signs of life. 0

By the swimming pool in the yard, a sunshade had been knocked over by someone and was now floating in the pool's water. 0

What was once crystal clear water was now tainted with floating dead leaves and debris, making it look incredibly filthy. 0

There were no bloodstains, no corpses, and no signs of a struggle; perhaps this was the only reassuring signal. 0

Standing before the iron gate of the villa, they exchanged another glance. Chu Donglin, carrying a machete, climbed over the gate and unlocked the heavy door. 0

With cautious steps, they ventured inside. However, as Chu Donglin retracted his expanded mental awareness, his brow furrowed slightly. 0

In his mental perception, he sensed five zombies within the villa responding to his mental power. 0

He instinctively glanced at the girl beside him and noticed a hint of tension and worry on Liu Xiner's face. 0

Filled with complex emotions regarding her relatives' fate, she swallowed hard. Noticing Chu Donglin's gaze, she forced a smile but remained silent. 0

Chu Donglin turned his head away, tightening his grip on the knife handle as he continued to lead the way. 0

Meanwhile, he had already commanded all five zombies to emerge from their hiding spots and gather in the living room. 0

As Chu Donglin and the girl reached the villa's entrance and his hand rested on the doorknob, he looked back at Liu Xiner. 0

"Should we open it?" 0

Liu Xiner nervously swallowed but nodded her head. 0

Then Chu Donglin turned the doorknob... The door did not open. 0

Thus, an eerie silence fell between the two in front of the door. 0

Watching Chu Donglin's hand gripping the doorknob, even in this tense atmosphere, the girl couldn't help but show a faint smile. 0

Glancing at the smiling girl with a blank expression, Chu Donglin raised his Machete and brought it down on the locked door. 0

With a series of loud bangs, Chu Donglin violently dismantled the door lock. 0

"Alright, the door is open." 0

Under Liu Xiner's bewildered gaze, he clapped his hands and kicked open the villa's front door. 0

Then, five Zombies that had been waiting inside lunged forward with a roar. 0
