After sending the female ghost away, Ye Xiu lay back down on his bed.
Encountering such a cute ghost made Ye Xiu wonder if all the ghosts he would meet in the future would look like her.
After a while, Ye Xiu got up to go to the bathroom.
Since the bathroom in the dormitory was out of order, he had to walk to the public restroom in the corridor outside.
Walking down the dimly lit hallway, he noticed the walls were dirty, giving him a distinct haunted house vibe.
Approaching the restroom, there was a mirror. Every time Ye Xiu went to the bathroom and saw himself in that mirror, he felt as if someone was watching him, prompting him to turn around.
This time was no different, but Ye Xiu seemed accustomed to it and walked straight into the restroom.
A little while later, he came out and leaned over the sink to wash his hands. Unable to resist, he looked up at the mirror, and his reflection looked back at him.
It just felt strange.
For a moment, Ye Xiu couldn't pinpoint what was odd about it.
Then he decided to leave, but his reflection showed no intention of moving!
It didn’t budge at all!!
Surprised and puzzled, he couldn’t help but stare at himself in the mirror, getting closer and closer until their reflections were nearly touching.
Suddenly, through the mirror, Ye Xiu saw a shadowy figure floating behind him.
Just as Ye Xiu was about to turn around, the reflection in the mirror reached out toward him.
However, Ye Xiu had not yet noticed, and the movements in the mirror were slow.
By the time Ye Xiu turned around, it had failed to grasp him.
Ye Xiu cautiously looked around.
Noticing nothing unusual and preparing to turn back, a ghost suddenly appeared!
Even though Ye Xiu sensed something was off, the sudden appearance of the ghost startled him greatly.
Once he got a good look at the ghost's appearance, Ye Xiu first sighed in relief, then angrily exclaimed, "Damn it. Why are you here? Didn't you leave? Are you back to get me to eliminate you?"
The ghost was none other than the cute spirit he had encountered before.
The ghost's previously joyful expression vanished, replaced by a look of grievance.
"I'm sorry," the ghost said. "But I suddenly remembered the question you asked me, so I came back."
"My name is Summer Mo," she continued. "But I only know that I'm called Summer Mo; I still don't know anything else."
Upon hearing this name, Ye Xiu felt it was somewhat familiar.
After thinking for a moment, he suddenly recalled.
Summer Mo! Wasn't she that internet singer from before? She had a beautiful voice! He had listened to her song "Herelife."
What a pity that such a beautiful voice, such a lovely girl, and such a promising person has turned into a ghost.
And not just any ghost, but one that knows nothing.
Ye Xiu had only heard her songs and had never seen her photo. If it weren't for the current situation, he would have even wanted to ask for her autograph.
"Do you know what happened?" Ye Xiu tried to ask.
"I don't know. It feels like I just gained consciousness yesterday, and then I met you," Summer Mo said in a low voice.
Just as Ye Xiu was about to ask something else, he suddenly noticed the terrified expression on Summer Mo's face.
Ye Xiu turned around to look.
In the strange mirror, "Ye Xiu" had a twisted face, with blood streaming from its eye sockets. Its face was a chaotic mix of black and white as it clawed towards the real Ye Xiu.
Ye Xiu instinctively took a step back, thinking the ghost in the mirror was going to reach out for him. However, it stopped moving once it reached the spot where Ye Xiu had been standing.
The ghost in the mirror clearly unwillingly retracted its outstretched hand.
At this moment, Ye Xiu remained relatively calm; he had seen such things often. But behind him, Summer Mo was far less composed.
Summer Mo flapped her arms like a frightened bird, desperately trying to escape from danger. She waved her arms and screamed in terror.
What an incompetent ghost!
"You have insulted the great and noble title of a ghost!"
Ye Xiu helplessly tugged at Summer Mo, but as soon as he touched her, her screams grew even louder. Then, her other arm swung around and struck heavily against Ye Xiu's frail chest.
"Stop! It's me!" Ye Xiu shouted, though there was no trace of anger in his voice.
His words acted like a calming charm; Summer Mo opened her eyes and looked at Ye Xiu, instantly quieting down.
It was uncertain whether anyone else could hear the screams. In the middle of the night, such sounds coming from the dormitory—especially a woman's voice—could easily spark all sorts of rumors.
Ye Xiu calmly glanced at Summer Mo, as if to say, "Stay calm and watch me!"
He then turned to look at the ghost in the mirror and casually grabbed a stick to smash it against the glass.
With a loud crash, the mirror shattered into countless pieces.
As the ghost within the mirror vanished along with it, Ye Xiu turned back with a victorious demeanor to face Summer Mo.
However, instead of admiration or awe, he was met with the same expression of terror as before, as she continued to point behind him.
Ye Xiu turned around once more.
This time, it was not the same sight he had seen in the mirror.
This time, the ghost with bloodshot eyes was fully visible, its tattered clothes and darkened body revealing a right foot that seemed to have been partially severed.
At that moment, the ghost looked at Ye Xiu with an expression of disdain, as if regarding him as a fool.
Ye Xiu, seemingly unfazed by the eerie sight, raised his makeshift weapon again and swung it.
This time, he put more force into it, but before the weapon could connect, a gruesome bloodied hand seized it.
Ye Xiu discarded the weapon and confidently stepped back, believing that the ghost wouldn't cross that boundary.
The terrifying ghost stared at Ye Xiu with a mocking gaze, slowly approaching him as if to taunt him, deliberately slowing its movements.
Ye Xiu began to feel uneasy.
Sure enough, when the ghost reached the previous boundary, it showed no signs of stopping.
Finally, the bloodied ghost crossed that invisible line and lunged toward Ye Xiu.
As if sensing an impending doom, Summer Mo shut her eyes tightly.
Although Ye Xiu felt helpless in this situation, he no longer faltered. He grabbed Summer Mo and dashed out.
At that moment, Ye Xiu didn't understand why he was pulling Summer Mo along.
Perhaps it was just a reflex; instinctively, he regarded Summer Mo as a companion.
Ye Xiu pulled Summer Mo out of the restroom and into the corridor, glancing back over his shoulder.
The ghost limped towards Ye Xiu, showing no signs of giving up.
At that moment, Ye Xiu didn't want to return to the dormitory; he couldn't go back. There were ghosts in the dormitory—was he supposed to go back there and wait to die?
However, Ye Xiu had only just begun to practice his Taoist techniques and had no idea how to deal with a ghost.
Without hesitation, Ye Xiu ran towards the stairs.
But just as he reached the stairs and was about to head down, he saw something eerie at the corner of the staircase, facing away from him.
It had pale skin, fingers that were almost skeletal, and something sinister seemed to swirl around it.
From this immediate impression, it was clear that it was yet another spirit.
This was it!!!
