I hesitated for a moment, but ultimately chose to trust the Green-Haired Zombie's words. I closed my eyes, held my breath, and lay still on the ground, pretending to be dead.
The Green-Haired Zombie stood in place, looking disdainfully at the group of approaching Ghostly Beings. In a cold tone, he said, "Anyone who doesn't want to die, get lost!"
The group of Ghostly Beings halted, their eyes filled with reluctance as they glared at the Green-Haired Zombie. They shouted, "Jing Xiaoyu, what do you mean! That one is our prey; it's too domineering of you to interfere!"
"Hmph! I, Jing Xiaoyu, am just that domineering. If you’re not satisfied, come and fight me!" Jing Xiaoyu scoffed dismissively. He dug at his ear and said flatly, "I'll give you three seconds to leave. If you don't go now, you'll all stay here!"
Jing Xiaoyu held up three fingers and slowly counted down: "Three... two... one!"
"Since you're still not leaving, then go die!" Seeing that the Ghostly Beings remained in place, a cold killing intent flashed in Jing Xiaoyu's eyes.
In an instant, Jing Xiaoyu appeared beside one of the Ghostly Beings at the back of the group. His hands sprouted sharp claws as he gripped the Ghostly Being tightly.
"Don't think hiding here means no one can find you. If I want to kill you, it will take just a moment!" Jing Xiaoyu said coldly. With a fierce grip, his claws pierced into the Ghostly Being's body, and a stream of blood-red corpse poison surged through his claws into the Ghostly Being.
"Ah! Master, I was wrong! Please spare me!" The Ghostly Being let out a painful howl as its ghostly face was corroded by the corpse poison. With each face that was destroyed, one of the shadowy figures around it vanished as well.
In truth, these ghostly figures were transformed from faces; there was only one true Ghostly Being among them. Destroying just one clone meant eliminating only one face. To truly eradicate it, one had to find the real body of that Ghostly Being.
The Ghostly Being Jing Xiaoyu held onto was indeed the true body of this group. Hearing its cries of despair, his expression remained unchanged until every face on the Ghostly Being was destroyed. Only then did he release it with a kick and coldly say, "Today I'm in a good mood, so I'll spare your miserable life! If you dare provoke me again next time, it won't be so simple. Now get lost!"
"Master, I'm leaving right away! Right away!" The Ghostly Being dared not linger for even half a second; it transformed into an eerie aura and scurried away towards the Foot of the Tomb Mountain.
After watching the Ghostly Being leave, Jing Xiaoyu walked over to me and glanced down. "You can wake up now!"
I opened my eyes and stood up from the ground. Smiling at Jing Xiaoyu, I nodded and said, "Jing Xiaoyu, thank you for saving my life this time. My name is Jiang Ling; I am a Daoist Master."
Jing Xiaoyu's face showed little expression as he nodded at me and said, "The reason I saved you is that I want you to spread the word about this place and find a powerful Taoist Master to rescue me."
I frowned and activated my Yin-Yang Eyes to look at Jing Xiaoyu from head to toe, but I couldn't find anything unusual about him.
Confused, I looked at Jing Xiaoyu and asked, "Jing Xiaoyu, what kind of seal do you have on you? Can't you leave whenever you want? With your cultivation level, those Ghostly Beings outside shouldn't be able to stop you."
Jing Xiaoyu shot me a disdainful glance and replied, "You, a mere Daoist Master, how could you possibly see the seals on me? Don't waste your effort. Just find some powerful Taoist Masters to come over."
"Besides, I'm not afraid of the Ghostly Beings from Grave Hill; I'm afraid of the terrifying Eternal Zombie King in this cave. Once that Zombie King awakens, your Yin-Yang Realm will be in serious trouble."
I scoffed and retorted, "Jing Xiaoyu, do you underestimate us too much? A mere Eternal Zombie King? We in the Yin-Yang Realm have dealt with those before."
"Hmph! Your Zombie Kings can't even be compared to that guy. If you don't believe me, I'll take you in to see for yourself." Jing Xiaoyu sneered dismissively and turned away without even looking at me as he walked deeper into the cave.
"Should I just run straight to the Foot of the Tomb Mountain?" I thought to myself while watching Jing Xiaoyu's retreating figure.
Just as I turned around, Jing Xiaoyu's voice echoed from inside the cave: "If you want to leave here, just come in with me. There’s a secret passage inside that leads to the outside world. If you try to escape from Grave Hill like before, there are many more Ghostly Beings waiting for you. If you're confident, then go ahead and charge out."
"This Jing Xiaoyu doesn't seem like he wants to harm me. If he wanted to kill me, he could have done so directly without all this trouble," I pondered for a moment before weighing the pros and cons. In the end, I decided to follow Jing Xiaoyu into the cave.
Once inside, I saw that the space was quite large; it was a hollowed-out cavern. In the center of the cave stood a massive Bronze Cauldron filled with a red liquid that emanated a strong smell of blood—it was filled with human blood.
Inside that Bronze Cauldron lay a Crystal Coffin containing a woman of perfect beauty. Just one glance captivated me completely.
"She’s so beautiful!" I instinctively murmured as my body moved closer to the Bronze Cauldron. I reached out my hands, wanting to climb onto it and rescue the woman inside for myself.
"Child, are you looking for death? Wake up!" Jing Xiaoyu shouted loudly in my ear, gripping my body.
A buzzing sound filled my ears, and I jolted awake, my mind instantly clearing.
I looked at the several corpses lying beneath the Bronze Cauldron, their blood completely drained, and a chill surged through me. If it weren't for Jing Xiaoyu pulling me back, I would have met the same fate as them.
Fear filled my eyes as I distanced myself from the Bronze Cauldron, lowering my head and daring not to glance at the woman inside the coffin again.
Here I was, a Master Rank expert who had cultivated Buddhism, considered a top-tier practitioner in the outside world. Yet, just one glance at that woman had ensnared my mind without me even realizing it.
With lingering dread, I looked into Jing Xiaoyu's eyes and asked in confusion, "Who is this woman? How can she be so powerful?"
Jing Xiaoyu's gaze turned somewhat unnatural as he coldly replied, "Her name is Zhao Xingyue; she is my Eternal Zombie King! Now do you understand her power?"
Just then, a series of crisp sounds echoed from within the Bronze Cauldron as the Crystal Coffin slowly shifted, revealing a corner of its lid.
Inside the coffin, Zhao Xingyue's eyelids fluttered a few times, as if she were about to awaken.
