I had no idea about the battle at the Foot of the Tomb Mountain. I had walked for quite a while towards Grave Hill, yet not a single ghost appeared.
"Damn it! With so much Eerie Aura around, how can there be no ghosts? What is going on?" I frowned, my unease growing stronger.
"I can't go any further up! It's too strange up there!" I stopped in my tracks and turned to head back to the Foot of the Tomb Mountain, only to find the path behind me shrouded in a mass of Black Ghostly Aura. The road I had taken had vanished.
I furrowed my brow and took out a talisman, tossing it into the Eerie Aura. I quickly formed a Seal with my hands and chanted, "Ultimate Earth, Xuanmen Daoist Arts! Yin-Yang Realms, Daoist Arts unite! Demon Realm, retreat and clear the way!"
As soon as I finished speaking, the talisman ignited without fire, transforming into a sphere of white light that dispelled the Eerie Aura behind me.
"Hehe, another Daoist has come; time for a feast!" As the Eerie Aura dissipated, a two-meter tall ghostly figure appeared before me. It was adorned with numerous Faces, and bizarrely, those ghostly faces were still twisting and writhing.
The ghostly figure seemed to be composed of hundreds of ghostly faces.
Upon closer inspection, I recognized many of those faces from the video Chen Haiping had shown me; they were all people Yang Xiaochao had summoned for help.
I drew my Rusty Sword, my expression grave. "What the hell is this thing? I've never seen anything like it!"
The Faces on the ghostly figure opened their eyes simultaneously; they were all white. Hundreds of dead fish-like eyes stared at me, making me extremely uncomfortable as goosebumps prickled my skin.
"Is this ghostly thing what was chasing those Taoist Masters in the video? But it doesn't seem very strong!" I sensed the strength of this Ghostly Being and found it comparable to a Millennium Ghost General—nothing too formidable.
"Hehe, Daoist, you dare to look at me! Die!" The Ghostly Being roared and lunged at me. The faces on its body opened their mouths wide and spewed forth masses of Black Ghostly Aura that wrapped around me.
I couldn't afford to be careless. Biting my tongue until it bled, I sprayed some Tongue Blood onto my Rusty Sword. Then I quickly formed a Spell with my left hand and chanted, "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Supreme Three Pure Ones, Daoist Guardian! Grant me Daoist Arts, bestow upon me Blood Demon! Exorcism Technique, Dao Blood Extermination! Sacrificial Dao Blood, eradicate Evil Spirit! Supreme Old Lord, urgent command!"
As my words fell, I swung the Rusty Sword towards the Ghostly Being. A sword aura mixed with blood light appeared out of thin air and sliced through the Ghostly Being in an instant, cleaving it in two.
"Roar! Daoist, you have some skill! But you're still too inexperienced to deal with me!" The ghostly figure howled ominously. Although its body was now in two pieces, it paid no heed and continued to claw its way towards me.
"Since you want to die so badly, I'll grant your wish!" A cold killing intent flashed in my eyes as I swung the Rusty Sword, unleashing a series of sword energies that sliced through the ghostly figure until it shattered into pieces. Only then did I stop.
"Haah... It should be dead now!" I exhaled deeply, feeling a third of my Daoist Magic drained.
Though this ghost was merely a Millennium Ghost General, it was exceptionally troublesome. To completely eliminate it, I had to go all out.
After resting for a moment, I lifted my leg and headed toward the Foot of the Tomb Mountain.
At that moment, the Eerie Aura by the roadside suddenly surged up, blocking my path and preventing me from leaving.
"Looking for death? Get out of my way!" I swung my Rusty Sword at the Eerie Aura in front of me, easily dispersing it. However, to my surprise, behind that Eerie Aura, more Ghostly Beings appeared.
This time, there were too many Ghostly Beings—an ominous mass blocking the road to the Foot of the Tomb Mountain. I estimated there were at least a couple hundred of them.
"Hehe, Daoist, don't go! Let's keep fighting! Aren't you very strong? I want to see how many times you can kill me!" The Ghostly Beings spoke in unison, their voices merging into a loud chorus as if they were one person.
"Are you crazy? I'm not fighting you!" I turned around and quickly ran toward Grave Hill. With so many Ghostly Beings surrounding the Foot of the Tomb Mountain, charging in alone would be suicide.
I knew Grave Hill might hold even greater dangers, but I had no other choice. Gritting my teeth, I pressed on upward.
After more than an hour of running, I reached halfway up the mountain and spotted a cave not far away. A figure sat outside the cave, engrossed in their phone.
Upon seeing that figure, my first thought was that anyone who could sit there calmly at this hour must be someone extraordinary.
A glimmer of insight crossed my mind. After hesitating for a moment, I changed direction and ran toward the cave while shouting loudly, "Brother! I need help! Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda! Please, help me!"
Hearing my voice, the person looked up at me, then slowly put away their phone and ambled over.
"Ha ha, there's truly no way out!" I laughed wildly in my heart, quickening my pace. In just half a minute, I had run to a spot only ten steps away from that figure.
Since it was nighttime and the surroundings were poorly lit, I hadn't clearly seen the figure before. Now, as I approached, I realized he was covered in green fur. He was not a Living Person at all, but a Green-Haired Zombie.
"Damn it, I got it wrong! This is bad!" My face turned pale as I hurriedly stopped, afraid to move forward. I glanced back and saw that the group of Ghostly Beings had caught up, now only about twenty meters away from me.
"Shit, wolves in front and tigers behind! No choice now; I'll fight you!" With no way to retreat, a cold glint flashed in my eyes as I brandished my Rusty Sword and charged at the Green-Haired Zombie.
"Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Supreme Three Pure Ones, Daoist Guardian! Grant me Daoist Arts, bestow upon me Blood Demon! Exorcism Technique, Dao Blood Extermination! Sacrificial Dao Blood, eradicate Evil Spirit! Supreme Old Lord, urgent as the law commands!" I shouted loudly, swinging my Rusty Sword toward the Zombie.
"Bang~~" A light sound echoed as the Zombie reached out and caught my sword's energy. With a grip, he shattered it effortlessly.
The Zombie flickered and transformed into an afterimage. When he reappeared, he was already behind me. He gently grasped my neck and said, "If you don't want to die, then lie down and play dead!"
In an instant, the Zombie lifted me and threw me in front of the cave. His strike seemed powerful, but when I hit the ground, I didn't feel much force; my body was hardly affected.
"What is happening?" I lay quietly on the ground, filled with questions.
