I kicked the Taoist Master a few times, and as more and more of them surrounded me, I dared not linger any longer. I turned and dashed towards the bag of pills.
The reason I didn’t choose to escape to the second floor was that it had already been surrounded by a group of Taoist Masters. They had long cut off my retreat, leaving me with nowhere to run.
"Hmph, you think you can surround me? Just watch how I take you down," I scoffed, increasing my speed and shaking off five or six Taoist Masters before finally reaching the bag of pills.
Everyone was caught up in the fight; no one was in a hurry to grab the bag of pills because it would only belong to the victorious side. Thus, no one was guarding it.
But I didn’t care about that. Taking advantage of the lack of defense, I rushed over and reached for the bag on the ground.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing? Stop right there!" Xu Mancheng’s disciples shouted at me. They had already realized I wasn’t on their side, but seeing me clash with the Taoist Masters, they chose not to expose my identity.
However, they silently watched my actions, never expecting that I would make a move for the bag of pills. By the time they wanted to intervene, it was already too late.
I grabbed the pills from the ground, quickly tore off the rope binding the bag, and pulled out a handful of pills, tossing them into the air.
"I’m throwing pills! Everyone hurry and grab them! Whoever picks them up gets to keep them; once they're in your stomach, no one can take them away! Hurry!" I shouted loudly while continuously tossing pills into the air.
These pills originally belonged to me, so throwing them out didn’t weigh on my conscience at all.
The others stopped their fighting, staring blankly at the falling pills. Their breaths quickened as they gazed greedily at the elixirs.
It should be noted that when Yang Xiaochao invited Xu Mancheng and Wu Mao, he had only sent ten pills. They had merely glanced at those pills without any hope of obtaining them.
Now seeing the pills raining down around them, their calm demeanor shattered. Someone bent down and picked up a pill from the ground, quickly swallowing it.
After three or four seconds, excitement spread across that person’s face as he exclaimed, "Master was right! This stuff really enhances Daoist Magic within! This is a true miracle elixir! We’re going to get rich! Hahaha!"
With that, he reached down again for another pill and without hesitation stuffed it into his mouth.
"Everyone grab them! Don’t let this guy take them all!"
"I have one! I got it! Haha!"
"Yes! This pill is indeed effective. It seems I might break through to the Taoist Master Tablet! Hahaha!"
"Huh? Why does this pill smell a bit fishy? No matter, I'll swallow it first. Damn, this pill feels much stronger than the ones I've had before! Could it be that the stronger the smell, the better the effect?"
...
I watched the person in front of me enjoying the pill with a look of bliss, my brows furrowed tightly, feeling a wave of nausea. Shaking my head, I muttered to myself, "Damn, these people can eat Mud Pills with such delight. I'm really amazed!"
The entire room instantly descended into chaos. Just moments ago, it was only two sides fighting, but now everyone was in a brawl. They didn't care whether their opponents were from their own side or not; they just wanted to grab a pill.
"Hey, are you blind? I'm right here! Hurry and throw that pill over to me!" At that moment, someone stood up and shouted at me.
I turned to look, annoyed. "Damn, you want to eat Mud Pills that badly? I'll give you all of them so you can have your fill!"
With that, I tipped the bag over in that person's direction, pouring out all the Mud Pills.
"Haha! I'm rich! I'm rich!" The excitement on that person's face was evident as he grabbed a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth, swallowing greedily.
"Quick, grab them! This is the last of the Mud Pills; once they're gone, they're gone!" Seeing this scene, everyone around rushed over, frantically fighting for the pills.
From the moment I poured out the pills until now, only about a minute had passed.
Although Xu Mancheng and Wu Mao had stopped fighting, it was already too late for them to intervene.
Taking advantage of the distraction, I opened the cabinet where I kept my backpack, retrieved my belongings, slung them over my shoulder, and quickly made my way toward the staircase.
"This friend over here, I am Wu Mao. May I ask how you are addressed?" Just as I reached the staircase, Wu Mao and Xu Mancheng blocked my path. Their eyes were cold as they looked at me with evident resentment.
If it weren't for me spilling out that bag of pills, they would have definitely gotten a large share. But now they had fought for nothing and ended up with nothing; naturally, they were upset.
I offered a friendly smile to Wu Mao and Xu Mancheng, saying, "My name is Jiang Ling. It's a pleasure to meet you both. If you have nothing else, could you please step aside? I have somewhere to be."
"Hmph! You think you can just walk away after messing with our things? Do you really think I'm easy to bully?" Xu Mancheng scoffed, pointing the Peach Wood Sword at my nose, ready to charge at me.
Seeing the Peach Wood Sword only half a meter from my nose ignited a surge of anger within me. I drew my Rusty Sword and forcefully knocked Xu Mancheng's Peach Wood Sword aside, retorting, "Damn it, that thing is mine! I can do whatever I want with it. If you're unhappy, come at me!"
It was a joke; if Xu Mancheng and Wu Mao were at their peak, I might not stand a chance against them. But now, both had already fought to a standstill, their strength reduced to about sixty percent. I still felt confident I could take them on.
Xu Mancheng sensed the Master Rank magical fluctuations emanating from me, his eyes widening in surprise as his expression turned serious. Achieving Master Rank at my age was undoubtedly a sign of exceptional talent in Taoist Magic.
A cold glint flashed in Xu Mancheng's eyes as he turned to Wu Mao and asked, "Wu Mao, should we team up to take down this Taoist first? With so many pills on him, he must have other treasures as well. Once we capture him, we can split everything evenly. What do you think?"
"Heh heh, Xu Mancheng, you want to rob someone? Only fakes like you would do such a thing; I'm not like you," Wu Mao sneered dismissively. He stepped aside and smiled at me, saying, "Jiang Ling, you were invited by Yang Xiaochao too, right? We should help each other out and not let anyone stab us in the back."
"Master Wu Mao, don't worry. I know what to do," I replied with a smile and then turned away, casting a cold glance at Xu Mancheng. "Xu Mancheng, I'll remember your words today. I hope you don't end up regretting them!"
After delivering my warning with a snort, I quickly made my way downstairs.
