The Taoists on their side may have lost half their numbers, but their cultivation was on a higher level. They had practiced the combined formations of the Daoist Sect and were quite confident in their abilities.
"Brothers and Sisters, let us form our formation to face the enemy. Do not panic. These impostors are nothing but a rabble; they are no match for us!"
"That's right! Shishu brought us out this time to hone our cultivation. Now is our chance to strike. Everyone, focus and let's defeat these impostors!"
"Defeat the impostors! The authentic Daoist Arts will prevail!"
...
The group of Taoist Masters, without Wu Mao's instruction, had already formed three combined formations and charged at the incoming foes.
Wu Mao observed his disciples' performance and nodded in satisfaction. He then shifted his gaze to Xu Mancheng not far away and coldly said, "Xu Mancheng, we haven't settled our score yet; let's continue!"
With that, Wu Mao brandished his Peach Wood Sword and charged at Xu Mancheng. After inflicting serious injuries on Xu Mancheng, Wu Mao felt a surge of confidence, and his attacks became increasingly fierce.
Xu Mancheng felt the sharp jabs of Wu Mao's Peach Wood Sword against his freshly bandaged wounds, worsening his injuries as blood flowed uncontrollably.
"Hmph! Wu Mao, do you really think I'm afraid of you? If you want to fight, I'll gladly oblige!" Xu Mancheng's eyes flashed with a palpable killing intent; he was genuinely contemplating murder. Ignoring his injuries, he recklessly charged at Wu Mao with his own Peach Wood Sword.
There’s a saying: even a cornered rabbit will bite. Driven to this point, Xu Mancheng unleashed increasingly violent and ruthless techniques that suppressed Wu Mao's momentum and even gained a slight upper hand.
"Damn, this technique can be used like this! I’m truly learning something valuable here!"
"Not bad! This move is excellent; it would definitely work wonders for ambushing someone!"
"Haha! Wu Mao actually got hit by Xu Mancheng; that force was enough to break my heart! Looks like he's done for."
...
I watched with great interest, occasionally offering my commentary. I didn’t bother lowering my voice intentionally, so those engaged in the fight also took notice of me.
The Daoist robe-wearing mages thought I was one of Xu Mancheng's people. Suddenly, three of them rushed over, surrounding me with their Peach Wood Swords, attacking without hesitation.
"Brothers, let's take this guy down! He’s been hiding here watching the show and even dared to insult our Shishu. Let's beat him up and avenge Shishu!"
"Beat him up! Everyone, attack together!"
Seeing the three Daoists charging at me, I couldn't continue watching the spectacle. I quickly got up from the bed, drew my Demon-Subduing Staff for self-defense, and exclaimed, "Damn it, how am I getting shot while lying down!"
As I fought against the three Taoist Masters with my Demon-Subduing Staff, I said, "Brothers, it seems you’ve misunderstood. I'm not one of them; I'm just a bystander here to enjoy the show. You can continue your fight without worrying about me."
In truth, with my strength, taking down these three would be a piece of cake. However, I didn’t want to defeat one and then attract a whole crowd; that would only tire me out.
I used only seventy percent of my strength to deal with the three Taoist Masters and found myself slightly at a disadvantage. They exchanged glances and suddenly felt they could defeat me. Their movements became fierce, throwing off my rhythm.
With a "smack," I made a mistake and exposed a flaw. One of the Taoist Masters stabbed me in the back with his sword, pushing me forward half a step.
I felt a sharp sting in my back; if it weren't for my prior use of Buddhist Power to protect myself, that strike could have left a serious wound.
The Daoist who injured me looked smug and sneered, "Hmph! Don’t think just because you’re not using a Peach Wood Sword that we can’t recognize you. You’d better let us beat you up; otherwise, we might not be able to hold back and end up crippling you!"
Hearing this made my blood boil. I pointed my Demon-Subduing Staff at his nose and shouted, "You bastard! Just wait! You think you can cripple me? I’ll show you who gets crippled!"
I summoned all the Daoist Magic within me and infused it into my Demon-Subduing Staff. Then I flashed forward like an afterimage towards that Daoist.
"Impossible! How can he be a Daoist Master at such a young age?" The Daoist's face was filled with disbelief, but reality was beyond his comprehension.
"Run! We’re no match for him! Call the other brothers for help; we need to take him on together!" The three Daoists weren’t fools; realizing the situation was dire, they turned to flee.
Unfortunately for them, now that I had made my move, there was no way I would let them escape.
I swiftly appeared behind one of the Taoists, bringing down my Demon-Subduing Staff onto his back, sending him crashing to the ground.
"Ugh! You’re ruthless!" The Taoist lay on the ground, blood spewing from his mouth as he pointed a trembling finger at me, his eyes filled with resentment.
"Seriously, when you three ganged up on me earlier, did you ever think about how I felt? Now that I’ve knocked you down, all you can do is curse at me. Just lie there quietly, or I’ll make sure you regret it!" I shot him a cold glare, kicked his outstretched hand down, and turned to chase after the other two.
The Taoist watched my retreating figure, anger boiling inside but unable to voice it. Finally, he closed his eyes and pretended to be dead on the ground.
"Help! Brothers, help!" The other two Taoists saw my display of strength and ran even faster. The surrounding Taoist Masters heard their cries and turned to look.
"Hmph! Calling for help won’t do you any good! You thought you could hit me and run? Do you think I’m easy to bully?" Spotting another Taoist approaching, I quickened my pace and focused entirely on the one who had just tried to show off in front of me.
In less than three seconds, I caught up to him and kicked him down to the ground. Then, wielding my Demon-Subduing Staff, I began to rain blows upon him while shouting, "Run now! Weren’t you going to take me down? Come on! Hmph, dare to act tough in front of me? Let’s see if I don’t beat you into submission!"
After a little over ten seconds, the Taoist was battered beyond recognition. He curled up, cradling his head with both hands and cried out, "Big brother, I was wrong! Please let me go! I promise I won’t act tough again!"
