The sword energy, infused with a red glow, sliced through the air, cleaving all the evil spirits in the stairwell in half. The spirits barely had time to let out a scream before they turned into wisps of ash, dissipating into the air. 0

At that moment, a faint sound emerged from the oil painting on the wall. The area depicting the evil spirits began to burn, quickly scorching a fist-sized hole. 0

"These holes must be where those evil spirits hid their treasures. There might still be some pills inside," a glint of excitement flashed in my eyes as I approached and took down an oil painting. With my right hand forming a spell, I struck at the hole in the painting. 0

"Crack!" I slapped my palm against it three times before finally breaking through the secret space behind the painting. A crisp sound echoed, and then thumb-sized pills began to pop out from within. 0

"Haha, I've hit the jackpot this time! As long as I collect these pills, this trip won't be in vain!" I saw that one painting could yield three or four dozen pills. If I managed to take down all the paintings, it would amount to a considerable sum. 0

Filled with determination, I placed the pills into a bag on the ground and continued to rummage through other paintings. 0

After more than ten minutes, I had checked all the oil paintings on the wall, filling my bag with pills—at least over a thousand in total. 0

Satisfied, I nodded and headed towards the second floor with my bag slung over my shoulder. 0

I surveyed the layout of the second floor; it was exactly as I had guessed. There were only six rooms numbered from 01 to 06—there was no room 07. 0

Activating my Yin-Yang Eyes, I scanned the surroundings but found nothing amiss. Furrowing my brow, I pondered for a moment before muttering to myself, "Could it be that there really is no room 07? I should ask someone." 0

I walked to the door of the elderly woman from earlier and knocked politely. "Ma'am, my name is Jiang Ling. I have some questions I'd like to ask you; could you please open the door?" 0

The elderly woman quickly opened her door. Peeking her head out, she looked relieved upon seeing me. Still somewhat worried, she asked, "Young man, I'm Qin Hui. I heard quite a bit of fighting outside for a while; I thought you might have been done for. By the way, what happened to that ghost?" 0

I smiled and said, "Aunt Qin, I've taken care of those ghosts, so you don't have to worry anymore." 0

Qin Hui nodded skeptically. Her gaze suddenly fell on the burlap sack I was holding. I noticed her expression change as she pointed at the bag and questioned, "Hey, where did you get that bag? I lost one just like it yesterday and was wondering where it went. Turns out you stole it! Give it back to me!" 0

Before I could respond, the woman reached for the bag. I quickly stepped back a few paces and explained, "Auntie, please calm down. I just arrived today; how could I have stolen it? I got this bag from those ghosts earlier!" 0

Upon hearing my explanation, Qin Hui paused and looked a bit embarrassed. She said, "I misunderstood you. I saw that your bag was bulging and couldn't help myself. Don't take it to heart." 0

I glanced into the room behind Qin Hui and noticed five identical bags lined up inside. They were all stuffed full, and a few of them were not tightly sealed, revealing the black pills I had eaten before. 0

Furrowing my brow in confusion, I asked, "Auntie, how do you have so many pills? Is this stuff really that common?" 0

Qin Hui burst into laughter, unable to contain herself as if she had heard a great joke. She rubbed her belly and managed to say between laughs, "Haha! Kid, these aren't pills at all! They're just dirt washed off by people taking baths. You didn't think you were eating pills, did you?" 0

"Auntie, are you serious? This stuff is Mud Pill?!" My face turned pale as I looked at Qin Hui with a glimmer of hope in my eyes. 0

Without hesitation, she nodded and replied earnestly, "Kid, I've been collecting Mud Pill for over ten years. Why would I lie to you? I sell these Mud Pills to a big boss named Yang Xiaochao. He says they can be used in traditional medicine and work quite well. You didn’t eat any pills given to you by Yang Xiaochao, did you?" 0

"No way! Who would eat such disgusting stuff?" I shook my head with a grim expression, feeling uneasy in my stomach as waves of nausea washed over me. 0

Thinking back to Yang Xiaochao's words about the pills on the phone, everything clicked into place. 0

"Yang Xiaochao, damn you! The next time I see you, I'm going to make you pay," I thought fiercely as a cold glint flashed in my eyes. 0

"By the way, buddy, you wanted to ask me something earlier. What was it?" Qin Hui asked enthusiastically. 0

I took out the room key from my pocket and showed it to Qin Hui, asking, "Do you know where Room 07 is located?" 0

Seeing the room number in my hand, a flattering smile appeared on Qin Hui's face. She winked at me and said, "Oh, so you're the one staying in Room 07! That's great! You'll have to help us out later." 0

"Auntie, I can help you, but could you please stop with all these nonsense? It's making me a bit uneasy!" I couldn't handle Qin Hui's flirtation and instinctively took a step back, crossing my arms in front of me as an uncomfortable chill ran down my spine. 0

Hearing my words, Qin Hui chuckled shyly and stopped throwing me those flirtatious looks. Once she returned to her normal demeanor, I asked, "Auntie, do you really know where Room 07 is?" 0

Qin Hui nodded and pointed to the third floor above us. "Buddy, Room 07 is on the third floor of this inn. There's only one big room up there, and only those really powerful Taoist Masters can stay in it. It seems like you're quite the expert from the Daoist Sect too!" 0

"Go ahead and drop off your luggage first! Come back downstairs in ten minutes to help me out," Qin Hui said cheerfully. Without waiting for my response, she turned and went back into her room. Soon after, a series of clattering sounds came from inside; I wondered what she was tinkering with. 0

I shook my head, not wanting to think too much about it, and headed up to the third floor of the inn with my luggage. 0
