After finishing lunch, I clearly explained my plans to Liu Zhenxian. Now, I needed to find someone else—Zhu Dongdong. Since Zhu Dongdong was able to awaken the Wolf Demon bloodline, he must know the important points to pay attention to during the awakening process.
I returned to school and inquired around, only to find out that Zhu Dongdong had gone to another school for a competition and wouldn’t be back until the evening.
I stroked my chin and said nonchalantly, “Zhu Dongdong is Zhu Caini’s older brother; he should be able to answer my questions. I don’t need to rush to find him. If it’s later, then it’s later. I can wait for him to come back.”
I went back to class. Since our program was somewhat special, there were no academic classes scheduled for the evening; instead, we had physical training classes taught personally by Deng Bo.
Deng Bo’s earlier fight in the gym left a strong impression on me, and I held a great deal of respect for him.
However, what Deng Bo taught during breaks were just some basic physical training methods. For others, it met their needs well, but for me, it felt a bit beneath my level.
I sat in the last row of the gym, positioning myself as Deng Bo instructed. After about ten minutes, I absentmindedly glanced at the time and yawned out of boredom, saying, “How has only half an hour passed? There’s still an hour and a half until class ends; this is really hard to endure.”
Deng Bo happened to notice my actions. His brow furrowed, and his expression turned somewhat unpleasant. He walked up to me and said coldly, “Jiang Ling, come outside with me.”
Feeling a bit guilty, I followed Deng Bo out of the gym. Rubbing the back of my head, I asked, “Teacher Deng, I wasn’t slacking off just now. Is there something you wanted to talk about?”
Deng Bo led me to a dim corner. He looked into my eyes and said icily, “Jiang Ling, you are a student I made an exception for when I admitted you. From the very beginning, I could tell you have practiced physical techniques before. I know that what I'm teaching now isn’t suitable for you; keeping you here just wastes your time.
Jiang Ling, I’m giving you a choice now: if you can last three minutes under my hands, you won’t have to attend evening classes anymore. If anything comes up, I’ll notify you in advance; you can just come back to school then.”
Hearing Deng Bo's suggestion stirred something in my heart. However, seeing the confident look on his face made me feel a twinge of unease. After hesitating for a moment, I ultimately found myself swayed by Deng Bo's offer. I took off my clothes and tossed them on the ground, stretching my body as I smiled and asked, “Teacher Deng, please go easy on me.”
Deng Bo took out a stopwatch, set the time, and placed it on the ground. He said, "Since you're ready, let's begin."
I nodded, stepping into the Daoist Sect's footwork. I lunged forward, pressing against Deng Bo's right shoulder and threw a punch aimed at his head.
Having witnessed Deng Bo's strength, I dared not hold back. I put all my power into this punch, even infusing a trace of Daoist Magic into my fist. While Daoist Magic wouldn't harm Deng Bo, it created a sonic boom with my punch, making it appear formidable.
"Strange! This kid's punch isn't fast, yet it creates a sonic boom," Deng Bo thought, filled with confusion. However, his expression remained calm. He casually threw a punch in response, intending to clash with me and gauge the depth of my martial arts.
With a loud "bang," I was sent stumbling back two or three steps while Deng Bo merely swayed slightly before stabilizing himself. Seizing the opportunity, he charged at me.
I rubbed my somewhat numb wrist. As Deng Bo attacked, I had already lost the initiative and found myself unable to escape his relentless pressure, forced into passive defense.
After about two minutes, I had endured seventy or eighty of Deng Bo's strikes. Although I wasn't seriously injured, I felt quite battered and had several bruises on my face.
"Damn it, this is so frustrating! How can Deng Bo be this strong?" I muttered to myself. Through my earlier exchanges with him, I realized that Deng Bo's martial arts style was aggressive; once he gained even a slight advantage, he would press the attack relentlessly.
After a while, I heard the stopwatch beep. Relieved, I slowed my movements and smiled as I said, "Teacher Deng, three minutes are up; we don't need to continue."
It seemed Deng Bo didn't hear me; he showed no signs of stopping and continued to attack. My brows furrowed in concern. If this continued, I'd surely end up looking like a beaten mess.
As the saying goes, a wise man doesn't suffer losses in front of him. Seeing that Deng Bo wouldn't relent, I started pulling him toward the gym's entrance while shouting loudly, "Help! Teacher Deng is attacking a student! Everyone come quick! Help!"
I shouted several times in succession. Hearing the commotion from outside, people inside the gym began to emerge and gather around us.
Deng Bo sensed that the situation was not right and stopped his attack. He nodded with satisfaction and said, "Jiang Ling, your skills are impressive. Although I could win against you, I wouldn't be able to take you down in less than ten minutes. Not bad, not bad."
"Hehe, Teacher Deng, you're too kind. I know you were going easy on me; otherwise, I would have lost long ago." I replied somewhat shyly. In reality, while defending earlier, I had secretly activated the Buddhist Sect's Vajra Shield, forming a golden barrier beneath my skin to mitigate some of the damage. Without that, I would have been knocked down already.
Deng Bo picked up the stopwatch from the ground and walked over to pat me on the shoulder. "Jiang Ling, you performed excellently. From now on, you'll represent our department in competitions with other colleges and schools. You won't need to attend evening classes anymore."
"What are you all staring at? Have you all trained enough? Do you want to spar with me?" Deng Bo said coldly as he turned towards the gymnasium. The students who had come out to watch quickly scurried back inside.
Hearing Deng Bo's words made my heart sink. Being chosen to represent our department in competitions felt like a trap.
While I was confident in my martial arts skills, I knew there were many who were stronger than me. Some of my teammates from Night Operation could easily overpower me.
"Teacher Deng, I actually think evening classes are quite beneficial. Can we discuss this? I'd like to continue attending." I quickly picked up my clothes from the ground and hurried after Deng Bo.
