After more than two hours, the three of us arrived at the address Lan Yue had found. Lan Yue traced the IP address from the Campus Forum, jumping through more than a dozen servers before locating this Tattoo Shop.
I looked around and noticed there wasn't a single pedestrian on the street. Even the taxi driver who brought us here left with a panicked expression, clearly not wanting to stay. In my line of sight, aside from this Tattoo Shop being open, all the other shops were closed and not doing any business.
Just then, a cawing sound echoed in the air. Seven or eight large crows perched on a power pole tilted their heads to look at us.
Wu Jie jumped at the sudden noise, hurriedly pulling out a Peach Wood Sword from his backpack for protection. He eyed the group of crows on the power pole warily and said, “This Big White, why are there so many crows? This place really feels eerie.”
“Come on, Wu Jie, crows aren't ghosts. Why can't they be here?” I rolled my eyes at Wu Jie. He was clearly overreacting; after hearing some things from me earlier, he subconsciously thought that the Eternal Ghost King was hiding here and imagined those crows as spirits.
Wu Jie awkwardly chuckled and lowered his Peach Wood Sword, trying to act as if nothing had happened.
“Seriously, Wu Jie, you’re making a big fuss over nothing. Those Ghostly Beings wouldn’t be out in the open; they must be hiding in some dark corner. Just watch me, Brother Fat. I'll find all those Ghostly Beings,” Hu Yalong said smugly as he pulled out a compass from his backpack and fiddled with it in front of the Tattoo Shop.
No matter how Hu Yalong adjusted the compass, the needle never pointed in a clear direction; it just kept spinning erratically.
The smug look on Hu Yalong's face vanished as he furrowed his brow and looked up at me. “ Brother Jiang Ling, are you sure that Eternal Ghost King is hiding here? This doesn’t make sense; I haven’t detected any trace of Eerie Aura.”
I activated my Yin-Yang Eyes and glanced toward the nearby Tattoo Shop. I confirmed that Wang Lei was indeed not inside that shop, but there were several Century Ghosts hiding within it.
Logically, even if Wang Lei wasn’t here, Hu Yalong’s compass should have sensed some Eerie Aura. Confused, I looked at the compass in his hand and realized it hadn’t been consecrated. The eight trigrams engraved on it were also incorrect; it was clearly a fake compass.
I patted Hu Yalong on the shoulder and said, “Fatty, that compass you have is fake. Once we deal with things here, I’ll help you make a consecrated one.”
“I spent three thousand bucks on this! Damn it, I’m so mad! When I get back, I’m definitely leaving a bad review!” Hu Yalong angrily slammed the compass to the ground and stomped on it several times until it was crushed to pieces.
“Alright, Fatty, it's time to get down to business.” I grabbed hold of the still-fuming Hu Yalong, calming him down a bit while also sharing what I had just seen with both of them.
"Brother Jiang Ling, since the Eternal Ghost King is not here, you don't need to rush into action. Those five Century Ghosts can be handled by the two of us. Just stand by and support us," Hu Yalong said confidently as he pulled out a Peach Wood Sword from his backpack, holding a talisman in his left hand.
Wu Jie also showed an eager expression on his face. His right hand, gripping the Peach Wood Sword, trembled slightly as he swallowed nervously and looked at me. "Jiang Ling, let Hu Yalong and me give it a try. We rarely get such an opportunity."
I scanned Hu Yalong and Wu Jie, quickly analyzing the situation in my mind. Clearly, their strength was not enough to take on those five Century Ghosts.
However, it was currently a time when Yang Qi was at its peak, which would suppress the cultivation of those Century Ghosts. If a fight broke out, the outcome could be unpredictable.
After a moment, I nodded and said, "Alright then, you two handle those five Century Ghosts. I'll go inside the shop and see if I can find any clues left by the Eternal Ghost King."
Upon hearing my words, Hu Yalong excitedly dashed toward the Tattoo Shop, shouting loudly, "Ghosts! I'm here to take you down! Hurry up and come out to meet your end!"
"Wow, that's so over-the-top," Wu Jie remarked awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head at Hu Yalong's dramatic demeanor. Thankfully, there were no passersby around; otherwise, he would definitely pretend not to know Hu Yalong.
I felt much like Wu Jie did; I could only smile wryly and shake my head. I then patted Wu Jie's shoulder and said, "Wu Jie, that's just how Fatty is. Don't take it too seriously. Once you've seen enough of it, you'll get used to it."
Wu Jie nodded and followed behind Hu Yalong into the Tattoo Shop with his Peach Wood Sword in hand.
Inside the Tattoo Shop, aside from the five Century Ghosts, there was no one else present. As soon as Hu Yalong and Wu Jie confronted them, they immediately engaged in battle.
I walked to the entrance of the Tattoo Shop and found a stool to sit on. While playing on my phone, I observed the situation inside.
I saw Hu Yalong throwing talismans in large quantities onto the Ghostly Beings while clumsily casting spells. He shouted loudly, "Lingling, Earth Spirit, Supreme Old Lord, heed my command! Exorcism talisman, rise!"
Hu Yalong struck a confident pose as the two Ghostly Beings in front of him were intimidated and took three or four steps back, nervously eyeing the talismans around them.
As the spells of Hu Yalong were fully unleashed, only a handful of talismans in mid-air emitted a glow the size of a fingernail, while the rest fell to the ground like useless scraps of paper, showing no reaction whatsoever.
"Hmph, Fatty, I thought you were something special, but it turns out you're just a useless fool. Let's see if we can finish you off today." The two Ghostly Beings snorted coldly and lunged forward, quickly engaging Hu Yalong in a fierce battle.
Hu Yalong's cultivation was already inferior to that of the two Ghostly Beings, and with his skills unable to match theirs, the situation quickly tilted in favor of the Ghostly Beings. Hu Yalong could only passively endure their attacks.
" Brother Jiang Ling, help me!" Hu Yalong shouted desperately as he struggled against the two Ghostly Beings. Seeing that he was not in immediate danger, I pretended not to hear him and continued playing on my phone.
"Fatty, you love to show off, so it's good for you to learn a lesson," I muttered to myself before turning my attention to Wu Jie.
Wu Jie was fighting against three Century Ghosts alone. Although his movements were not very skilled, he managed to handle their onslaught with ease, displaying the demeanor of a Daoist Sect expert.
I nodded secretly in appreciation and remarked, "Wu Jie has some talent; with another decade or so of training, he might make quite a name for himself."
After more than ten minutes, Hu Yalong had been beaten into a state resembling a pig's head. He wore a mournful expression and no longer had his previous bravado. Wu Jie’s Daoist Magic had also been exhausted under the relentless assault of the three Century Ghosts, and he gradually began to fall behind.
Seeing that the timing was right, I put away my phone and took out the Rusty Sword from my possession. I infused it with a strand of Daoist Magic and swiftly cast several spells with my left hand while chanting: "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods, Exorcise Demons and Eliminate Spirits, Three Pure Ones Bestow Divine Power! Spirit Severing Technique, command!"
As my words fell, I swung the Rusty Sword toward the five Century Ghosts. Five tangible sword energies pierced into their bodies in an instant, scattering their souls and leaving them no chance to retaliate.
