Hiding in the closet was me. I had arrived at Qu Liang's school two hours earlier, originally planning to stay at a nearby hotel for the night and look for Qu Liang in the morning.
While I was browsing the internet on my phone, I accidentally clicked into the school's forum and quickly learned the whole story. I immediately called Qu Liang, but her phone was already turned off. Worried about her, I rushed to her school.
About an hour ago, I saw Qu Liang busy putting up talismans in her dorm. Seeing that she was safe eased my mind. To better deal with any potential dangers Qu Liang might face, I didn’t meet her right away. Instead, I sneaked into her dorm and hid in a nearby closet, preparing to act at the crucial moment.
"That Eternal Ghost King isn't trying to lure me out, is it?" I thought to myself as I peered through a gap in the closet towards the dorm room, only to lock eyes with a Ghostly Being.
"I can’t believe I’ve been discovered. Looks like it’s time to go all out," I frowned, tearing off the concealment talisman from my body. Then I pushed open the closet door and quickly walked over to Qu Liang, helping her sit up on the bed.
Although I didn’t want to confront this Eternal Ghost King head-on, it didn’t mean I was afraid of it. When it was time to act, I wouldn’t shy away.
As soon as Qu Liang stabilized herself on the bed, she reached out and pinched the soft flesh at my waist, glaring at me with resentment. "Jiang Ling, you jerk! Were you hiding in there all along, watching me get bullied? Why did you only come out now?"
"Ah! That hurts! Qu Liang, be gentle; that's flesh!" Cold sweat broke out on my forehead from her pinch. However, when I saw her resentful gaze, I didn’t dare to pull away from her grip and could only grit my teeth and endure as she vented her anger.
"You two showing off your affection in front of me—do you think so little of me, Wang Lei?" At that moment, the Ghostly Being suddenly spoke ominously. With a wave of its right hand, it manipulated the eerie aura in the room, conjuring over thirty Ghostly Beings that swarmed towards us.
Feeling a powerful pressure bearing down on her, Qu Liang's expression turned serious. She released my waist and patted my chest, speaking sternly: "Jiang Ling, I'll let you off this time. If you don’t take care of him today, I won’t talk to you again."
I rubbed my waist where she had pinched me and put on a confident smile. "Qu Liang, don’t worry. This Ghostly Being dares to bully you; I'll make him regret coming into this world. By the way, let me borrow some of those talismans from you."
I didn’t have any magical tools on me to deal with the Ghostly Being. Fortunately, there were still over three hundred talismans left in Qu Liang's backpack—enough for me to handle this Eternal Ghost King.
I took off the backpack from Qu Liang and saw Wang Lei's controlled Ghostly Beings rushing towards us, just three steps away. I stared expressionlessly at the Ghostly Beings in front of me, opened the pocket of the backpack, and threw all the Silver Talismans inside at them.
From the moment Wang Lei stepped into the dormitory, he felt a strong sense of unease, but he couldn't pinpoint the source of his discomfort, which is why he hadn't used his full strength before. It was only when he had just knocked Qu Liang away that he suddenly sensed a Cold Killing Intent locking onto him from the wardrobe inside the dormitory. At that moment, Wang Lei realized where I was hiding.
"Heh heh, kid, I thought you were something special, but it turns out you're just like everyone else. Those talismans are useless against me; you might as well die," Wang Lei sneered as he saw my technique. Despite witnessing Qu Liang's earlier display of power with those talismans, Wang Lei still believed he could destroy all the Silver Talismans I had thrown and then kill us all.
"Hah! Let me show you my true power." Wang Lei let out a wild laugh as he removed his robe, revealing his body. To my surprise, his soul was covered in strange runes, and a Peach Wood Nail about the thickness of a finger was embedded in his heart.
"Evil Spirits Rampant, Immortals and Demons stand aside. Kill and absorb souls on the Evil Spirit Path; I offer this body to the Demon God. Gather, Evil Spirits, and reveal yourselves!" Wang Lei pulled out the Peach Wood Nail from his chest. The talismans on him seemed to come alive, writhing and quickly emerging from the gaping hole in his chest. They transformed into Ghostly Beings at the level of Millennium Ghost Generals, rushing towards me. Meanwhile, Wang Lei seriously controlled the Eerie Aura in the room, preparing to destroy all the talismans.
Although Wang Lei pretended not to take me seriously, he unleashed his strongest attack without any hesitation.
Seeing the incoming onslaught, I couldn't help but frown slightly, worry etched on my face. A glint flashed in my eyes as I decisively bit my tongue, spraying a mouthful of Tongue Blood into the air while channeling my Daoist Magic into the Silver Talismans suspended above.
Due to Wang Lei's interference, my Daoist Magic couldn't reach all the talismans. I decided to abandon more than half of them and concentrated my power into the outermost seventy or so talismans within the Eerie Aura.
Once I selected those Silver Talismans, I quickly formed several spells with my hands and loudly chanted: "Separation Fire descend, exterminate the ghosts! Evil spirits block my path, turn to dust! Lingling, Earth Spirit, Supreme Old Lord heed my command! Separation Fire Talisman, decree!"
As soon as I finished speaking, those talismans ignited spontaneously without fire, transforming into basketball-sized Separation Fire flames that illuminated the entire dormitory.
"Annihilate!" The moment those Separation Fire flames appeared, I directed them towards the Ghostly Beings in the dormitory.
Wherever those seventy-plus Separation Fireballs passed through, the Eerie Aura was instantly cleared away. Even those Millennium Ghost Generals couldn't withstand so many Separation Fireballs; they lasted only a few seconds before being reduced to ashes.
"How can this guy be so strong?" Wang Lei said with a tense expression, looking up at the fireballs of Separation Fire in the dormitory. A strong sense of crisis surged within him. He shot me a resentful glance, then decisively turned and ran out of the dormitory.
"Hmph! You hit my girlfriend and still want to leave? Do you really think I don't exist?" I snorted coldly, my body flashing as I quickly chased after Wang Lei out the door.
