Ma Yiwen's cold gaze swept over Xie Weiwei and the others, noticing that all the new students were present except for one. He looked at the Sabres in their hands, a fervent glint flashing in his eyes. He gestured to his subordinates behind him, a sinister smile creeping onto his face as he said, "Heh, since you outsiders have come here, it's even better. We won't have to hunt you down one by one. Brothers, surround these outsiders and don't let them escape."
"Yes, big brother!" The thugs responded to Ma Yiwen's command, brandishing their blades as they encircled Hou Libang and the others, also trapping Wu Yong and his three companions.
Wu Yong glanced at the thugs surrounding him, his expression darkening instantly. He looked up at Ma Yiwen with anger in his voice, "Ma Yiwen, what the hell do you mean by this?"
Ma Yiwen casually scratched his ear and strolled over to Wu Yong and the others, speaking in a mocking tone, "Heh heh, Wu Yong, what could I mean? I'm just curious about what you four are up to behind my back. If you don't explain yourselves today, I wouldn't mind keeping all of you here."
"At that point, I can just say it was these outsiders who took you out. With so many of my brothers as witnesses, I believe your subordinates wouldn't dare come looking for trouble."
One of the leaders behind Ma Yiwen had a sinister glint in his eyes. He stepped closer to Ma Yiwen and said without lowering his voice intentionally, "Big brother, stop wasting time with them. If we take out these four and seize their territory, this county will belong to our Horse Head Gang. Who would dare challenge us then?"
Ma Yiwen was somewhat tempted; greed flickered in his eyes as he pondered something.
"Hmph, Ma Yiwen, there are rules on the streets. If you dare break them now, you should know the consequences," Wu Yong retorted coldly, his expression dark as he provocatively stared at Ma Yiwen. He then asked, "But tell me, Ma Yiwen, do you want me to announce this publicly or just tell you privately?"
Ma Yiwen furrowed his brow and glanced at the leaders around him. He noticed their eyes gleaming with greed; they were clearly interested in the secret Wu Yong held.
A spark of cunning flashed in Ma Yiwen's eyes as he quickly formulated a plan. He pounded his chest vigorously and declared with righteous indignation, "I, Ma Yiwen, have come this far because of loyalty. Whatever good things I have are naturally meant to be shared with my brothers. Wu Yong, everyone here is my brother; just speak freely."
Meanwhile, I had engaged in a brief scuffle with two thugs and took them down in less than a minute. From them, I learned that the one pulling the strings was Ma Yiwen from the Horse Head Gang.
I wiped the blood off my Sabre and reattached it to my waist. Glancing toward the direction of the inn with a worried expression, I muttered to myself, "I didn't expect Ma Yiwen's influence to be this vast; this is troublesome. I should regroup with Hou Libang and the others first."
Before I left, I hurried to the house where the White Alliance was staying and earnestly conveyed a few words to them. Since I had already promised Bai Haizhen, I naturally wouldn't go back on my word.
After I finished my explanation, I hopped back on a shared bicycle and quickly rode toward the direction of the inn.
About five minutes later, I sensed a fluctuation of Evil Qi coming from a nearby alley. I felt puzzled and muttered to myself, "What's going on? Is there still Evil Cultivation here?"
After hesitating for a moment, I ultimately turned my bike around and rode toward the alley where the Evil Qi was emanating from instead of continuing to the inn.
"Meow meow~~ meow meow~~" After a while, following the trail of Evil Qi, I arrived at a dark alley. There were more than ten black wild cats gathered around a large jar, fighting over the food inside it, and the source of the Evil Qi was emanating from that jar.
"What is this situation?" I frowned and walked over to shoo away the wild cats. Then, with curiosity, I peered into the jar and discovered it was filled with more than half a jar of Corpse Oil Solution, looking yellowish-orange and particularly disgusting.
I forced myself not to vomit as my stomach churned. Turning my head to look aside, I noticed that a nearby house had its door open, and standing at the entrance were those black cats I had just chased away.
Curious, I walked over to that house. When I pushed the door open and stepped inside, I found the room empty of furniture, with only two half-height porcelain jars placed in the center and about a dozen similarly sized jars scattered around.
I examined these jars closely and found that their surfaces were engraved with symbols I had never seen before. Aside from being distinctly different, all the jars had identical shapes, clearly crafted by the same person.
I stroked my chin thoughtfully, my expression growing serious. As I circled around those jars, I muttered to myself, "These jars must also contain Corpse Oil Solution. Based on what I've learned, one adult corpse can produce enough Corpse Oil Lamp for a basin; if those Corpse Oil Lamps are processed into Corpse Oil Solution, you could get up to three times that amount. By this calculation, there must be enough Corpse Oil Solution in this house to come from at least fifty people. Could it be that these Corpse Oil Solutions were refined by the mastermind hidden deep in Baishan Village?"
My guess was indeed correct; this house was where Elder Cai stored the Corpse Oil Solution in town. Due to the military's swift arrival, Elder Cai and his group didn't have time to deal with these Corpse Oil Solutions before they hurriedly left.
Originally, this house storing Corpse Oil Solution was guarded by two Millennium Ghost Generals to prevent anyone from sneaking in. However, when Elder Cai's group prepared to retreat, those two Millennium Ghost Generals left as well.
Thus, the scene before me unfolded as the door of the house was unexpectedly pushed open by a group of Black Cats, and I coincidentally found this place just before Wu Yong and the others arrived.
