Time rewound to when we were preparing to depart from Baishan Village. To address potential situations that might arise on the road, we all came together to establish a series of hand signals that only we could understand.
Just moments ago, while I was talking with Hou Libang and the others, I secretly signaled them, indicating that while I kept Ye Bihong occupied, Hou Libang and his team should mobilize to deal with Zhang Guanghua, who was controlling the Corpse.
Hou Libang's new recruits were grouped in threes, and among them were three who had trained in martial arts at home, making them top-tier fighters. These three were the strongest in our group and each held their own title: "Sledgehammer Fist" Li Changgen, "Mindless Brute" Cheng Feifei, and "Insidious and Vicious" Xie Weiwei.
Li Changgen and his companions were our hidden trump cards. During previous encounters with the Corpse, they had only used half of their strength to avoid standing out too much. Even so, they remained one of the strongest combinations among the new recruits.
I fixed my gaze on Ye Bihong in front of me, then raised my left hand without looking back, quickly signaling. I shouted loudly, "Li Changgen, you guys move now! I'll hold off this Evil Spirit!"
I had previously sparred with Li Changgen and his two companions but barely lasted three minutes before suffering a crushing defeat—this was after they had shown me mercy. If Zhang Guanghua faced all three of them at once, I estimated he would be dead within a minute.
Thus, whether we could overcome this challenge depended on my ability to hold off Ye Bihong.
As I made the signal, Li Changgen and his companions were surrounded by a dozen Corpse. They had been on the defensive until they saw my signal; excitement sparked in their eyes.
At that moment, "Sledgehammer Fist" Li Changgen lunged forward. With his right hand wielding a blessed Sabre, he skillfully dodged the attacks from the Corpse while slashing at them with his weapon.
After about twenty seconds, Li Changgen had carved long gashes into the Corpse surrounding him. While these wounds didn't hinder their movements, they did expose weaknesses in their ghostly forms.
Once he completed this task, Li Changgen sheathed his Sabre at his waist. He stretched his arms and turned to Cheng Feifei and Xie Weiwei beside him, grinning as he said, "Brothers, it's our turn now. Let's go take down that punk and show him what real strength looks like. Relying solely on these crooked Evil Path methods won't lead to anything significant."
"Roar! Die! Die! Die!" Just as Li Changgen turned around, the Corpse instantly shifted their focus and roared loudly as they lunged toward him with claws bared.
"I hate being interrupted when I'm talking. If you're going to be so rude, then I won't hold back either." Li Changgen turned around, his expression turning fierce. With a sudden movement, he charged into the group of Corpses, fists clenched, delivering powerful punches to their wounds.
"Bang! Bang!" The heavy sound of his punches echoed around him. Each time Li Changgen struck a Corpse twice, it would be sent flying to the ground, its joints shattered, unable to get back up.
"Roar! Die! Die!" Although Li Changgen could easily knock those Corpses away, the surrounding ones began to swarm towards him as Zhang Guanghua noticed his strength and controlled more Corpses to encircle them.
Seeing the situation unfold, Cheng Feifei furrowed his brow and rushed toward Li Changgen with his Sabre in hand. His movements were direct; whenever a Corpse blocked his path, he would not hesitate to slash with his Sabre.
Cheng Feifei's martial arts were top-notch, and with the Sabre he wielded, a single strike was enough to decapitate a Corpse.
After four or five seconds, Cheng Feifei had cleared all the obstructing Corpses and finally reached Li Changgen's side. He slapped Li Changgen on the head and said irritably, "Li Changgen, while you're busy showing off, do you want to die?"
Li Changgen rubbed the spot on his head where Cheng Feifei had hit him, baring his teeth in annoyance as he glared at Cheng Feifei. "Cheng Feifei, you can talk all you want, but why hit me?"
At that moment, Xie Weiwei approached and stood between Li Changgen and Cheng Feifei. "Alright, stop arguing! Let's deal with that person first; otherwise, things will get complicated."
In fact, only about a minute had passed since I made the gesture. Now that Xie Weiwei was mediating between them, Li Changgen and the others stopped entangling with the Corpses and aimed to carve out a bloody path toward Zhang Guanghua.
However, there were too many Corpses around. No matter how strong they were, it was unrealistic for them to break through in such a short time.
"Li Changgen, you three hurry over; we'll handle these," Hou Libang and a dozen others appeared before them. They wielded their chipped Sabres and pushed the Corpses aside to clear a path for Li Changgen and his companions.
Though Hou Libang's group was not as skilled as Li Changgen's trio, they inevitably sustained injuries while fighting the Corpses. Blood covered their bodies—some from the Corpses but more from their own wounds.
Despite their dire appearance, Hou Libang and the others showed no signs of retreat. Each of them braced their bodies to withstand the attacks from the Corpses.
"Comrades, don't worry! We will kill that person as soon as possible," Li Changgen said. The sight before them ignited a surge of adrenaline, and they gripped their Sabres tightly, their eyes radiating an intense killing intent. In an instant, the three of them darted forward, swiftly heading towards Zhang Guanghua.
Ye Bihong felt an ominous presence behind him. He glanced back at Zhang Guanghua's position, his voice laced with murderous intent as he said, "Jiang Ling, how dare you play tricks on me? Just wait; I will settle the score with you later."
