The Tree Demon realized that it had no chance of escape. Its expression, instead of showing fear, became more composed. It cast a resentful glance at me and sneered, "Hmph, human, you won't get any information from my mouth. I will not betray my master. Even if you kill me, my master will avenge me." 0

Upon hearing the Tree Demon's words, I furrowed my brow slightly, feeling little disturbance within. I stepped closer to the Tree Demon, grasping the Sabre lying on the ground, and spoke coldly, "Since you refuse to cooperate, I have no reason to spare you. You can die." 0

With that, I secretly infused a strand of Daoist Magic into the Sabre. Then, with my left hand, I swiftly cast several spells while chanting aloud: "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods, Exorcise Demons and Eliminate Spirits, Three Pure Ones Bestow Divine Power! Demon Slaying Technique, command!" 0

As my voice fell, I drew the Sabre from the Tree Demon and swung it down. A dazzling white light erupted from the Sabre in my hand, piercing through the Tree Demon's soul and instantly scattering it into oblivion, leaving no chance for it to reincarnate in the Underworld. 0

I was not usually so ruthless; however, the Tree Demon's soul was tainted with too much Killing Intent, which was why its essence appeared blood-red. The moment I saw its soul, I guessed it had taken many lives before, so I showed no mercy. 0

I shook off the dirt from the Sabre and glanced toward the depths of the forest where the Tree Demon had fled. Although I didn't see much, an oppressive feeling emanated from within those woods. A glint flashed in my eyes as I coldly snorted, "Hmph! No matter what monsters are hiding in there, if you dare provoke me, I will make you regret it." 0

With that thought in mind, I withdrew my gaze and quickly made my way toward where Wang Yan and the others lay. 0

After the recent battle, I began to piece together some information. For instance, those mysterious individuals had brought Wang Yan and his companions here to use these two monsters to eliminate anyone who came to rescue them. 0

First, the Crow Fairy emitted strange sounds to lure rescuers over. Then the two monsters would work together—one overtly and one covertly. Given their seamless coordination, they must have used this tactic to ensnare many before. 0

If it had been Hou Libang who arrived instead of me earlier, the outcome could have been very different. 0

After a while, I reached Wang Yan and his companions. Unable to suppress my frown any longer, I crouched down to check their pulses. 0

"What's going on here?" My left hand moved to feel for Wang Yan's breath beneath his nose; I could detect a faint breath. However, when I placed my hand on the left side of his neck over his artery, all I felt was a chilling sensation akin to that of a corpse—there was no pulse beating beneath my fingers. 0

"Something's not right. Those people didn't set a trap; they set a double trap." My expression changed, and my tone was filled with shock. 0

The so-called double trap consisted of the two monsters—one in the open and one hidden—waiting to ambush ordinary people, which was more than sufficient. However, if they encountered a knowledgeable mage, their tactics would not be as effective. 0

Clearly, those mysterious individuals anticipated this, so they laid down another layer of traps. They first killed Wang Yan and the other two, then implanted an Evil Spell within their bodies, turning them into Corpses. Since Wang Yan and the others had only recently died, even a mage like me would be unable to tell whether they were alive or dead without close contact. 0

And once I reached out to touch Wang Yan's body, I would fall right into the trap they had set. 0

Realizing something was amiss, I wanted to leave Wang Yan's side immediately. Unfortunately, I was still a step too late. 0

At that moment, Wang Yan opened his hollow eyes, crimson blood oozing from his eye sockets, making him look particularly terrifying. Just as I prepared to retreat, Wang Yan gripped my left hand tightly and said in a hoarse voice, "Hoo hoo~~ Jiang Ling, why didn't you come save us sooner? Why! You caused our deaths; I will kill you and take you with us!" 0

"Jiang Ling, you owe us your lives! You owe us your lives!" The other two corpses also opened their eyes and stood up from the ground, reaching out toward me. 0

I looked up at the eyes of the two individuals and saw their gazes were vacant and lifeless. Although they could speak and move, their expressions resembled those of soulless corpses. 0

Looking at the three Corpses before me, I shook my head helplessly and sighed, "Alas, brothers, since you are already dead, it's better for you to go to the Underworld and be reincarnated soon." 0

I pulled hard with my left hand in an attempt to shake off Wang Yan's grip. However, his strength was too great; he held onto my left hand tightly, digging his nails into my arm. Instead of breaking free from Wang Yan's grasp, I ended up with a long wound on my arm from his grip. 0

I didn't have time to worry about the injury on my arm as I saw the other two Corpses drawing closer with fierce glints in their eyes. Gritting my teeth, I said, "I'm sorry, Brother Wang Yan!" 0

With that, I activated the Daoist Magic within me and infused a strand of it into the Sabre in my hand. I quickly cast several Spells and swung the Sabre toward Wang Yan's hands while chanting aloud: "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Supreme Three Pure Ones, Daoist Guardian! Grant me Daoist Arts; bestow upon me Blood Demon! Exorcism Technique, Dao Blood Extermination! Sacrificial Dao Blood; eradicate Evil Spirit! Supreme Old Lord; hurry as commanded!" 0

As soon as my words fell, the Sabre in my hand emitted a blade of white mist, slicing towards Wang Yan's hands and instantly severing them. 0

"Ahhh! My hands, my hands! Jiang Ling, give me back my hands!" Wang Yan let out a piercing roar. He raised his severed arms, screaming frantically, and suddenly leaped off the ground, filled with murderous intent as he lunged at me. His expression twisted into a grimace as he attempted to bite my head with his remaining mouth. 0

Taking advantage of this moment, I had already distanced myself. Once I dispelled the Daoist Magic within me, the blade light on the Sabre faded away. I heard a cracking sound as a fissure appeared on the Sabre in my hand, quickly followed by more and more cracks. 0

After two or three seconds, the Sabre could no longer withstand the Daoist Magic I had just channeled and shattered into a pile of debris, falling to the ground. 0
