After all the wilderness survival training, the thirty-seven of us had mastered the fundamental skills needed to survive. After catching those wild chickens, we all instinctively divided our tasks and worked together. 0

Some took out their Sabres and brought the chickens to a well near the village, where they stood by to clean and cut them. Others were searching for a place to sleep within the village, as darkness was approaching and we needed to settle down for the night. 0

However, more people ventured into the nearby mountains to gather firewood. The Baishan Village was without electricity now, and if we didn't have enough wood for the night, we would be left in complete darkness, unable to see anything around us. 0

I was among those collecting firewood with Hou Libang. We entered the mountains and began searching for fallen branches on the ground. If we found trees that had been uprooted by wild boars, we would carry back the dried wood. 0

After about three hours, we finished dinner, and everything around us had turned completely dark. With just our eyes, we couldn't even see ten meters ahead. Fortunately, we had gathered a large pile of firewood earlier, so even without electricity, it would be enough to keep us illuminated through the night. 0

After dinner, everyone gathered around the campfire. At that moment, Hou Libang wore a peculiar smile on his face. He glanced around at everyone and cheerfully said, "Brothers, this atmosphere is perfect for ghost stories. Does anyone want to share one?" 0

The people sitting nearby exchanged glances and looked at Hou Libang with disdain. One of them retorted, "Hou Libang, are you just bored after eating? There are no ghosts in this world. Stop talking nonsense at this hour." 0

Upon hearing this, Hou Libang immediately stood up, pointing excitedly at the person who spoke. He insisted, "Who says there are no ghosts? I encountered one when I was three years old! How about I share my story from that year?" 0

Among those sitting by the fire, some still believed in the existence of Ghostly Beings. Although they had never encountered one themselves, the thought of such unknown entities frightened them. They rubbed their arms nervously and said, "Hou Libang, can you skip the ghost stories? It's really scary at night." 0

Hou Libang confidently patted his chest and struck a mysterious pose. With a smug tone, he declared, "Don't worry! I am the three hundred twenty-eighth disciple of Maoshan. I've been learning Maoshan Spells. As long as I'm here, no demon or ghost can harm you!" 0

The others were skeptical of Hou Libang's words but were momentarily captivated by his bravado. However, upon hearing him speak, I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him and mutter to myself, "This Fatty thinks Maoshan has been passed down for three hundred generations? Can't he be a bit more professional when he's trying to fool people?" 0

Although I knew Hou Libang was just putting on a show, I didn't expose him. Even if he was a fraud, with me as a genuine Daoist Master present, any ordinary Ghostly Being that dared to cause trouble would be courting death. 0

I relaxed by the campfire, listening to Hou Libang boast while occasionally glancing around the village. 0

After more than an hour, it was nearly ten o'clock at night. We had been trekking along mountain paths all day, and everyone was quite tired. After arranging a rotation for the night watch, we all dispersed, each grabbing a sleeping bag and heading to the houses in the village to rest. 0

Hou Libang, along with four others, was on the first watch. Since it was still early and we weren't too sleepy yet, the six of us continued sitting by the fire while Hou Libang entertained the others with his stories. 0

Although Hou Libang wasn't very reliable when it came to tasks, he had a knack for storytelling that kept everyone on edge, making their backs feel a bit chilly. I knew he was just making things up, but I couldn't help but listen; his tales were indeed quite entertaining. 0

Time flew by, and after another two hours, Hou Libang had recounted three or four of his glorious exploits in ghost hunting. The others were wide awake, even forgetting to take their turns patrolling. 0

This wasn't solely because of the allure of Hou Libang's stories; rather, after hearing them, they began to feel fear creeping in as they thought deeper about what he had said. 0

So during this time, I took it upon myself to patrol the village with a flashlight. Fortunately, the village wasn't very large, and the houses built by the villagers were quite close together, so I didn't have to exert much effort—just circling around those few civilian houses every now and then. 0

"Hey, what's going on here?" As I walked out from the innermost part of the village, I found that the area around the campfire was empty—Hou Libang and the others were nowhere to be seen. 0

Seeing this scene made me frown as my mind raced. I was certain that Hou Libang and his group hadn't been taken by a Ghostly Being since I had been patrolling and hadn't seen any signs of one nearby—not even a recently deceased Soul. 0

After thinking for a moment, a sudden realization struck me. I slapped my forehead and muttered to myself, "No way, these guys aren't trying to scare me, are they?" 0

As it turned out, my guess was spot on. Hou Libang had noticed that I wasn't afraid of his ghost stories. So while I wasn't paying attention, he had secretly gathered the other four and hidden away to prepare a scare for me. 0

"Jiang Ling is coming! Let's jump out and scare him!" When Hou Libang saw me appear in his line of sight, he quickly popped out from behind me and reached toward my neck with an exaggerated gesture while dramatically saying, "Jiang Ling! Give me back my life! Hurry up and give it back!" 0

"Get lost!" I raised my hand and punched Hou Libang on the head. 0

Hou Libang covered his head, casting me a resentful glance, then feigned nonchalance as he said, "Ah, no, I'm just parched. I can't take it anymore; I need to rest for a while." 0
