The gymnasium was vast, appearing to be as large as half a football field. Aside from some simple decorations, it was mostly empty, giving it a spacious feel.
However, the originally spacious gym was now packed with people. Ninety percent of the onlooking students were from the Sports Academy, all standing inside the gym to watch the spectacle. This was precisely why no one had come out to guide the new students.
In the center of the gym, a space of about ten square meters had been cleared. A middle-aged man dressed in casual attire stood there, his hands clasped behind his back, looking arrogantly at the crowd around him. With a boastful tone, he asked, "Is there anyone else who wants to stop me from establishing a new major? You can step forward now. I'll wait for a few more of you; if no one dares to come up later, I won't hold back."
I glanced at the man speaking and realized he was the same teacher who had specially recruited me into the university. His name was Deng Bo, a man in his forties with short black hair and sharp eyes that sparkled with intensity. He had a robust physique that exuded a strong sense of pressure.
As I entered the gym, I caught Deng Bo's words and raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Is this Deng Bo really my teacher? This is too ridiculous."
The reason for my disbelief stemmed from my previous encounter with Deng Bo's abilities. After he finished recruiting students at my high school, he happened to sit near me while having late-night snacks one evening.
At that time, Deng Bo had an unexpected encounter with a Ghostly Being and ended up being tormented by it to the point where he nearly lost his life. It was only because I intervened secretly that I managed to drive away the Ghostly Being.
I didn't have much faith in Deng Bo's strength. Therefore, I planned to use this fight as an opportunity to learn more about him. If Deng Bo truly lacked strength, I would request a change of major; I didn't want to waste my youth.
As Deng Bo's voice echoed in the center of the gym, several teachers standing nearby exchanged glances. After a moment, a young male teacher in his thirties stepped forward.
This teacher was named Huang Yaohua. He wore a taekwondo uniform with a black belt tied around his waist. Though the belt looked ordinary, it represented Huang Yaohua's status as an expert in taekwondo.
Huang Yaohua calmly approached Deng Bo and looked him in the eye, a hint of combativeness rising within him. He cupped his hands respectfully and said earnestly, "Teacher Deng Bo, you've already fought six matches. I personally admire your strength. However, your individual prowess only proves your own capability; it does not validate the strength of traditional Chinese martial arts you claim to represent. Therefore, I cannot agree to your proposal for establishing a new major."
Huang Yaohua was a teacher specializing in taekwondo and represented its interests. If Deng Bo were to establish a new major, their funding from the academy would be reduced, and they would face another competitor for outstanding students. For these two reasons, the teachers from the Sports Academy opposed Deng Bo's decision and prepared to unite against him.
Of course, they were only privately undermining Deng Bo and did not directly shut down the program he established. They merely wanted to use this opportunity to show others that they were stronger than Deng Bo, so they could secure more funding and attract excellent new students from the academy, gradually overwhelming him.
"Hmph, Huang Yaohua, less talk. If you have the ability, win against me first!" Deng Bo understood the intentions of these teachers very well, but he was confident in his own strength, which is why he accepted the challenge. While the academy's teachers aimed to diminish Deng Bo's spirit, he had other plans; he intended to seize this opportunity to make a name for himself and promote his program.
Deng Bo had already won six matches, but he was not satisfied with this result. Therefore, he deliberately provoked the teachers to incite them into action. Now, Huang Yaohua took the initiative.
As soon as Deng Bo finished speaking, Huang Yaohua wasted no time. He executed a spinning kick with such speed that it was hard for anyone to see his technique clearly; one could even hear a sonic boom as his right foot sliced through the air.
"Bang~~" A loud crash echoed nearby as Huang Yaohua's right foot was blocked by Deng Bo's arm. Despite Huang Yaohua's speed, Deng Bo had been prepared and easily defended against his attack.
"Deng Bo, I’m not like those previous opponents; you better be careful," Huang Yaohua said, showing no surprise at Deng Bo blocking his attack. He quickly retracted his right foot and followed up with a swift kick from his left leg.
"Bang bang bang~~" Huang Yaohua unleashed a flurry of kicks with both legs in rapid succession without a moment's pause, delivering over thirty powerful strikes, each infused with all his strength.
"Wow, Teacher Huang Yaohua is so cool! Taekwondo really is the most powerful martial art."
"Exactly! Those six before him were on a completely different level compared to Teacher Huang Yaohua."
"I’ve decided; I’m going to take Teacher Huang Yaohua’s Taekwondo class this semester."
The surrounding students marveled at the spectacle, and even I was amazed by Huang Yaohua's series of movements. However, I didn’t believe that Deng Bo was any weaker than Huang Yaohua; in fact, I thought Deng Bo was much stronger.
From start to finish, Huang Yaohua kept changing directions to attack Deng Bo, while Deng Bo remained in a defensive stance yet absorbed all of Huang Yaohua's kicks without taking a single step back. Just based on this alone, it was clear that Deng Bo was far superior to Huang Yaohua.
Deng Bo noticed that Huang Yaohua had stopped his offensive, so he lowered his hands as well. He moved his limbs a bit and smiled, saying, "Teacher Huang, are you going to continue attacking? If you don't make a move, I might just have to take action."
Although Huang Yaohua's previous moves looked impressive, his stamina had already reached its limit. Seeing that Deng Bo was in much better shape than he was, he felt reluctant but ultimately shook his head in resignation and said, "Teacher Deng, there's no need to continue. You've won this round."
