I saw Liu Zhenxian acting so decisively that I nodded slightly and hurriedly ran up to the second floor of the tavern.
To be honest, Liu Zhenxian possessed the cultivation of the Eternal Ghost King. When he first wanted to become my Ghost Servant, I thought he was just humoring me. However, seeing Liu Zhenxian's attitude now, my thoughts began to change.
After about two minutes, I finally reached the second floor of the tavern. I quickly scanned the area and found Hu Yalong and his two companions bound at the wrists and ankles, standing by the window.
On the other side, Liu Zhenxian was fighting with an old man while accompanied by a female ghost. Upon closer observation, I realized that the old man was the same one I had encountered earlier on Spirit Ghost Street, a member of Ten Thousand Evil Hall. The Soul Nourishing Stone in my hand had been taken from one of his subordinates.
The female ghost's opponent was Wei Penghui, who had escaped earlier. Their cultivation levels were quite similar, with the female ghost having a slight edge. However, determining a winner would take some time.
After assessing the situation, I understood what was happening. I coldly glared at the old man and said in an icy tone, "The people from Ten Thousand Evil Hall dared to cause trouble after destroying Spirit Ghost Street? They truly do not know their own limits. Today, I will eliminate this old man and let Ten Thousand Evil Hall know that Jiang Ling is not to be trifled with."
Seeing that Hu Yalong and his companions were temporarily safe, I didn't rush to save them; dealing with the immediate threat was more important. So, I gripped my Demon-Subduing Staff tightly and walked slowly toward Liu Zhenxian.
"Jiang Ling, don't come over here. I can handle this old man by myself. You should check the third floor of the tavern; something might be hidden there. Go destroy it," Liu Zhenxian said darkly. He realized that his strength surpassed that of the old man as soon as they engaged.
However, strangely enough, no matter how Liu Zhenxian attacked, there always seemed to be a surge of Evil Qi appearing before him at critical moments, blocking his lethal moves and hindering his efforts.
Liu Zhenxian carefully observed how this Evil Qi manifested and quickly discovered some clues, which is why he instructed me to check the third floor.
Although I didn't know Liu Zhenxian's suspicions, I chose to trust his judgment. So I retracted my attack and swiftly ran toward the third floor of the tavern with my Demon-Subduing Staff in hand.
The tavern had three floors in total. The first floor featured a dining hall environment filled with closely arranged tables where patrons consumed cheap fast food.
The second floor of the restaurant was decorated in a more upscale manner, with a spacious layout that didn't feel cramped. Generally, those who came here to dine would order a few dishes and sip on some drinks, making it a mid-range establishment. It was on this second floor that we gathered for our farewell meal.
As for the third floor of the restaurant, it featured only six luxurious private rooms, each adorned with the finest decorations and ambiance, catering to the highest spending clientele. I had never been to the third floor before and had no idea what it looked like inside.
Upon reaching the third floor, I found that the private rooms were all closed off, preventing me from seeing inside. However, to my surprise, as soon as I stepped onto the third floor, I spotted Lin Junpeng's spirit not far in front of me.
At that moment, Lin Junpeng's spirit had his eyes tightly shut, emanating a faint Eerie Aura. A presence akin to a Century Ghost radiated from him, gradually intensifying.
The instant I saw Lin Junpeng, a glint flashed in my eyes. I gripped my Demon-Subduing Staff tightly and quietly approached him, murmuring to myself, "There’s definitely something strange here. I want to see how this Lin Junpeng has come back to life."
When I was just three steps away from Lin Junpeng, my overwhelming killing intent caused him to suddenly open his eyes and look at me. Confusion filled his gaze as he furrowed his brow and glanced around before asking in bewilderment, "Who are you? Where am I?"
I was taken aback by Lin Junpeng's words for a second or two. Looking into his eyes, I realized he didn’t seem to be lying. Surprised, I regarded him for a moment but did not halt my actions. I replied coldly, "Lin Junpeng, stop pretending. I'm not falling for that trick, so you might as well die."
I infused my Buddhist Power into the Demon-Subduing Staff and raised it high above my head, decisively bringing it down toward Lin Junpeng's head while chanting: "The Buddhist Sect states that all beings have spirits! Life and death are determined by fate; all things share the same realm! Descend upon the celestial mountain and return to your homeland! Evil spirits cling to dust and harm living beings! Fall into the Suffering Sea; turning back is salvation! Summoning Buddha's Law; awaken with the Buddha's staff! Namo Amitabha Buddha!"
As soon as my words fell, the Demon-Subduing Staff emitted a Golden Buddha Light and struck down toward Lin Junpeng's head with unstoppable force.
Upon seeing the incoming Demon-Subduing Staff, Lin Junpeng felt an overwhelming sense of life-and-death crisis. At that moment, the confusion in his eyes vanished completely. A fierce killing intent shot forth from his gaze as he pointed at me angrily and declared, "Stinky Taoist, now I know who you are. You don't need to waste your effort; you can't kill me. Just wait!"
"Oh? So now you recognize me? Your previous act was quite convincing; I almost believed it. But still, it's time for you to die," I replied coldly as my Demon-Subduing Staff struck Lin Junpeng. Although he tried to evade it, he was still a moment too late.
Having learned from my previous encounters, I didn't stop when Lin Junpeng's spirit began to dissipate. Instead, I continued striking him with the Demon-Subduing Staff repeatedly until his spirit completely vanished into thin air.
After witnessing the dissipating soul of Lin Junpeng, I did not feel any sense of relief. Holding the Demon-Subduing Staff, I cautiously scanned my surroundings.
Suddenly, a chilling wind swept through the room, and a mass of black Eerie Aura appeared where Lin Junpeng had just been vanquished. The Eerie Aura began to gather more and more, slowly taking shape. Before long, it formed a humanoid figure. Although the shape was rough, it was clear that it bore a striking resemblance to Lin Junpeng's soul.
