Jiang Bao had just shared a few things I needed to pay attention to when Cheng Zhong finished his phone call and walked over to us. Naturally, we both stopped our conversation and turned to look at Cheng Zhong.
"Cheng Bo, how are things over there?" Jiang Bao asked Cheng Zhong with a calm expression. I concealed my emotions and discreetly observed Cheng Zhong. No matter how I looked at him, I couldn't detect anything unusual about him. If it weren't for Jiang Bao's reminder, I would never have guessed that Cheng Zhong was from another dimension.
Cheng Zhong didn't notice my gaze; he shook his head at Jiang Bao and said, "Jiang Bao, the situation over there has escalated to a critical level. The manager of Spirit Ghost Street has already taken action, and everyone is fighting fiercely against the people from Ten Thousand Evil Hall. Our shop is already short-staffed, and if the two of us don't go over, those managers might force us out of Spirit Ghost Street."
Upon hearing Cheng Zhong's words, my brows furrowed tightly. I glanced at Jiang Bao and said, "Jiang Bao, I'll handle things here. That shop was left to us by our master; we can't let it be removed from Spirit Ghost Street. I'll rescue my brothers myself. If those Ten Thousand Evil Hall people dare to come after me, I'll make sure they won't return. You can focus on dealing with the Ten Thousand Evil Hall people."
Jiang Bao met my gaze, and seeing my resolute expression, he ultimately didn't say much more. However, before leaving, he took out a wooden token from his belongings and handed it to me, saying, "Jiang Ling, Spirit Ghost Street is currently sealed off, and we don't know when it will reopen. Keep this token safe; with it, you are now the temporary representative of our shop."
I looked at the wooden token in my hand and noticed it was only as big as my palm. The front was engraved with an ancient-looking door—the very door of Spirit Ghost Street. The back featured a long sword radiating cold light, resembling the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword that Jiang Bao carried.
The design of the token was quite distinctive, but what caught my attention even more was its unusual material. It appeared to be made of wood, yet felt like holding a piece of iron or stone in my hand. Not only did it exude a chilling coldness, but it also weighed at least ten kilograms—definitely not like a small wooden token.
I examined the token closely and began to speculate aloud, "So this is the representative token of Ghost Street!"
Shops on Spirit Ghost Street typically operated in secrecy; thus, they would set up some legitimate front shops outside. These front shops appeared to be ordinary businesses—some sold traditional Chinese medicine, others served coffee or operated as tailoring shops—various types of establishments existed.
However, all these front shops shared one common feature: prominently displayed at their entrances was a wooden token like this one. Of course, different shops within Spirit Ghost Street had distinct tokens. Since the back of this token bore the likeness of the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword, I could be certain it was the representative token for my master's shop.
Jiang Bao glanced at He Ying's shop before smiling and patting me on the shoulder. "Jiang Ling, people will come to your shop seeking your help from now on; just handle it as you see fit. If you run into any trouble, feel free to come find me."
I shot Jiang Bao an exasperated look and replied sarcastically, "Asking you for help? I'd rather not get to that point."
Jiang Bao and I chatted for a while. After about ten minutes, Jiang Bao received a phone call and then left with Cheng Zhong.
I watched Jiang Bao's departing figure and glanced at Cheng Zhong beside him. Suddenly, a strong sense of pressure surged within me. A glint flashed in my eyes as I clenched my fists and murmured to myself, "Jiang Bao, don't worry. You've shouldered so much on your own; I will work hard to become stronger and help share some of that burden."
It wasn't until Jiang Bao and the others disappeared from my sight that I finally walked into the shop. Earlier, to prevent He Ying from overhearing my conversation with Jiang Bao and exposing my identity, I hadn’t brought Jiang Bao inside.
When He Ying saw me enter, she sighed in relief. While playing Honor of Kings, she asked, "Jiang Ling, have those two outside left?"
He Ying and Wu Jie had initially wanted to help me outside, but Liu Zhenxian pulled them into the shop, preventing them from going out. Therefore, they weren't very clear about what was happening outside.
I nodded and said, "Don't worry; those two have already left. There's no problem now."
Then I waved the wooden plaque in my hand and smiled at He Ying, asking, "He Ying, I want to hang this plaque at the entrance. What do you think?"
He Ying didn’t recognize the origin of the plaque. She glanced at it casually and then wrinkled her nose in disdain, saying, "No way! This plaque is too ugly; it seriously affects our shop's image. I won't allow you to hang it at the entrance."
Wu Jie also took a look at the plaque in my hand. Raising an eyebrow in confusion, he asked, "Master Jiang Ling, what is this thing? It looks dark and indeed a bit ugly."
Liu Zhenxian turned his gaze toward the plaque as well. His insight was clearly sharper than that of He Ying and Wu Jie; a flash of recognition crossed his eyes as he instantly identified its origin.
However, Liu Zhenxian didn’t say much. He knew that this plaque could indeed bring a lot of business to He Ying's shop but would also bring her more trouble. So in the end, Liu Zhenxian chose to remain silent and handed the decision over to He Ying.
I exchanged glances with Liu Zhenxian and understood his thoughts. Thus, I turned my attention back to He Ying, shaking the plaque in my hand earnestly as I said, "He Ying, this plaque is a talisman that can attract wealth. Are you sure you don’t want to hang it at the entrance?"
He Ying's eyes sparkled with excitement when she heard that the wooden plaque could bring wealth. She fixed her gaze on the plaque in my hand and said without hesitation, "Jiang Ling, you have such a good thing. Why didn't you take it out earlier? What are you waiting for? Hurry up and hang that plaque up!"
I rolled my eyes at He Ying in disbelief and walked to the shop entrance, finally hanging the plaque below the sign. If anyone passed by, they would easily notice its presence.
