I had just stepped out of the shop when Zhao Sanbao and his group surrounded me, curiously asking about what had happened inside.
I hadn’t actually witnessed the entire process, so I could only share my guesses with Zhao Sanbao and the others. Of course, I didn’t mention the Iron Can that Wang Hongtao had used to perform the Twelve Fiends Resurrection Technique.
When Huang Ping heard that Wang Hongtao inside the shop was dead, he sighed in relief. He took out his phone and called over seven or eight officers who were waiting outside, instructing them to search for evidence inside the shop.
The three of us were taken aside and briefly questioned before being allowed to leave.
Wu Jie stood to my left and returned the Longevity Lamp to me. His eyes were filled with admiration as he said, “Master Jiang Ling, your technique just now really opened my eyes. I never expected a Taoist Master to be so impressive. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it.”
At this point, Wu Jie suddenly paused, then awkwardly rubbed his hands together and asked, “Um, Master Jiang Ling, do you take disciples? I want to learn Taoist Magic from you so that I can slay demons and maintain peace in the world.”
I shot Wu Jie a glare and replied irritably, “Wu Jie, stop daydreaming. You should focus on living an ordinary life. The path of the Daoist Sect isn’t suitable for you.”
It was a joke; most people start practicing Taoist Magic at a young age and must possess a talent for cultivation. Otherwise, no one would teach them Taoist Magic.
Wu Jie was already quite old and had long passed the best age for cultivation. Moreover, he had just recently awakened his Wisdom Eye, indicating that his physique was quite average—definitely not suited for practicing Taoist Magic.
Seeing that he was rejected, Wu Jie didn’t get discouraged. Instead, he clung to me stubbornly and smiled, “Master Jiang Ling, my request isn’t high; I’d be satisfied if you could just teach me a few moves of Taoist Magic. Of course, feel free to set any conditions; I won’t refuse anything I can do.”
“No means no; you should stop fantasizing,” I firmly rejected Wu Jie’s request and turned to Zhao Sanbao beside me. “Director Zhao, I’ll come to your place tonight to deal with that female ghost. This way, our transaction will be complete.”
“Master Jiang Ling, thank you very much,” Zhao Sanbao nodded with a smile. Having witnessed my abilities firsthand and having personally eliminated a female ghost himself, he no longer felt much fear towards those supernatural beings.
Zhao Sanbao stroked the Demon-Subduing Staff in his hand, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes. He looked up at me and asked, "Master Jiang Ling, can you sell me this magical artifact? With this for protection, I won't be afraid of those Ghostly Beings anymore."
I was somewhat surprised by Zhao Sanbao's request. After all, he hadn't activated his Wisdom Eye; he could see the Ghostly Beings, but even with the Demon-Subduing Staff, he wouldn't be able to deal with them. This staff was less useful to him than the talisman I had given him earlier.
I shook my head without hesitation and replied seriously, "Director Zhao, this Buddhist Artifact was given to me by a senior. I can't sell it to you. However, if you need a Buddhist Artifact for protection, I can recommend a place where you can find satisfactory options."
I told Zhao Sanbao the address of Jin Yuan Buddhist Artifact Store. Whether he had enough money to buy a Buddhist Artifact was no longer my concern.
Zhao Sanbao handed the Demon-Subduing Staff back to me with a hint of disappointment and said, "Alright then, I'll check out that Buddhist Artifact Shop when I get the chance."
The three of us soon walked outside, only to find that the crowd of onlookers had completely dispersed, leaving only a few officers guarding the entrance of the street.
Seeing this unusual scene, I couldn't help but furrow my brow. I approached one of the officers and politely asked, "Hello, may I ask where all those onlookers went? Did something happen nearby?"
I asked this because there are always people eager to watch events unfold in this world, and the sudden departure of those onlookers suggested that something more exciting was happening elsewhere.
The officer recognized our identities and smiled kindly. He pointed towards a tall building ahead and said, "I heard that a mall over there is hosting an event and invited a big star to attend. Those people probably went there to see what’s going on."
Upon hearing the officer's words, I instantly understood. None of us were particularly interested in that star or inclined to join the crowd, so we called a taxi and headed straight to Zhao Sanbao's apartment.
I initially didn't want to bring Wu Jie along, but he insisted on tagging along after flattering me excessively, so I reluctantly agreed.
"Director Zhao, please wait a moment. Let me check if that female ghost has come in," I said as I stood in front of Zhao Sanbao's apartment, carefully scanning the surroundings. However, I found no trace of the female Ghosts.
I was a bit surprised by this outcome. The female ghost harbored resentment towards Zhao Sanbao, which is why she troubled him every night. It was getting late, and she should be nearby.
Seeing my expression, Zhao Sanbao felt uneasy and asked, "Master Jiang Ling, you look worried. Did you notice something wrong?"
I shook my head and smiled, "Don't worry, Zhao. I'll take care of that female ghost tonight; she won't cause any more trouble."
Upon hearing my words, Zhao Sanbao finally relaxed. However, I didn't let him take us to his room; instead, we went directly to the apartment's rooftop.
Since I had already placed talismans around Zhao Sanbao's room, it wasn't suitable for me to summon the ghost there. The rooftop was empty, undisturbed, and free of any talismanic energy, making it a more suitable place for my summoning.
I took out a piece of yellow cloth from my backpack, about the size of a tabletop, and spread it out on the ground as a simple altar. Then I took out three incense candles, lit them, and placed them on the yellow cloth. After that, I retrieved some other necessary items and arranged them on the cloth.
Once everything was ready, I turned to Zhao Sanbao and Wu Jie and said seriously, "I'm about to begin the summoning. Please don't get too close to me; I don't want you to be possessed by the ghost."
