Qingqing hesitated not a moment before pulling the trigger of her pistol. A sharp gunshot echoed through the forest, and the bullet pierced the skull of the Corpse, exploding a fist-sized hole in the back of its head, sending white brain matter and red flesh splattering outward. 0

Though the Corpse was possessed by a Soul, it likely felt no pain. However, with its brain destroyed—the control center of its body—it was impossible for the Soul within to continue controlling the Corpse. 0

Suddenly, the body of the Corpse sitting on Qingqing became rigid. It paused for about a second before collapsing directly onto Qingqing, pinning her head down. 0

“Ugh! This damn thing is finally dead!” Qingqing exclaimed, her face splattered with a mixture of brain matter and flesh. But she had no time to worry about that; she quickly wiped the blood from her mouth and shoved the Corpse off her. Seizing the opportunity, she scrambled to her feet. 0

“Ah! How dare you destroy our body! I will kill you!” Another Corpse, witnessing its companion's demise, glared with murderous intent. It reached out with both hands, lunging toward Qingqing's neck. 0

Qingqing glanced around and realized that only this one Corpse was attacking her. She let out a long sigh of relief. With a cold snort, she aimed her pistol at the Corpse's head and calmly declared, “Hmph. You dare to lay hands on me? Then I’ll just have to send you on your way and show you what a real sharpshooter is like.” 0

As soon as Qingqing finished speaking, her pistol roared again, firing a bullet straight at the Corpse's head. The Corpse had no chance to dodge; it was struck directly in the skull. White brain matter mixed with red flesh sprayed everywhere, pooling on the ground and making Qingqing feel nauseous. 0

“Gurgle~~” The Corpse emitted a raspy sound from its mouth as its body grew increasingly stiff. Before it could reach Qingqing, it collapsed to the ground, motionless. 0

Seeing the Corpse fall, Qingqing quickly formulated a plan. She shouted to those who were fleeing, “Everyone stay calm! As long as we shoot through their heads, these Corpses won’t be able to move!” 0

The fleeing individuals were all professionals who had undergone training. After some time to collect themselves, their fear had diminished compared to when they first encountered danger. Having heard Qingqing’s gunfire and seen the two lifeless bodies on the ground, they understood what needed to be done: taking down the remaining eight Corpses would be a piece of cake. 0

“Damn it! You chased me earlier and even took a bite out of my backside. Now you can die!” 0

“Get lost, you perverted corpse! Even in death, you’re still lewd. How dare you touch our Forensic Science Unit goddess’s thigh? Back off!” 0

The officers quickly drew their sidearms, and the most accurate among them decisively fired at the heads of the group of Corpses. 0

"Bang! Bang!" A series of gunshots rang out, and the heads of the eight Corpses exploded, creating a gruesome scene. The bodies fell to the ground, motionless. 0

Some girls, seeing the brain matter and flesh on the ground, turned pale, feeling their stomachs churn. They quickly covered their mouths and turned away, unable to look at the Corpses. 0

Qingqing's expression grew serious as he witnessed the bloody scene. He noticed black mist emanating from the bodies, accompanied by eerie ghostly wails echoing around them. Frowning, he glanced at the officers beside him and saw fear in their eyes as they stared at the corpses, clearly aware of the bizarre situation. 0

Recalling the phone call Huang Ping had made to him earlier, Qingqing made a decision. He waved his hand and shouted, "Everyone, let's head back to the station for now. We'll deal with these Corpses tomorrow morning." 0

With that, Qingqing led the group of officers toward the police cars parked by the roadside. They moved quickly; no one wanted to linger for even a second longer. 0

After a while, they settled into their police vehicles. The officers swiftly started their engines and pressed down on the gas pedal, speeding toward the city police station. 0

Qingqing drove one of the cars, positioned at the end of the line. Once all the police vehicles had departed, he prepared to accelerate. However, before leaving, he instinctively glanced toward Burial Forest and was startled to see ten dark figures not far away—identical to the ten corpses he had seen that morning. 0

"Ghosts! There are really ghosts in this world!" Qingqing's face turned pale with fear as he slammed down on the accelerator. The police car became a blur as it sped away into the distance. 0

"Damn it! They got away!" The spirits swayed as they attempted to chase after Qingqing's vehicle but were ultimately too slow, left watching helplessly as it drove farther away without any chance of catching up. 0

Meanwhile, Huang Ping and his team had blocked off the street entrance, but a large crowd of onlookers still gathered outside. Some were drawn by Chen Luo's earlier cries for help, while many others simply came to see what was happening without understanding the situation inside. 0

Huang Ping's team had tried to disperse these curious bystanders, but they ignored Huang Ping completely. A few bold individuals even attempted to sneak into the street but were fortunately stopped by Huang Ping and his colleagues. 0

Huang Ping looked at the dense crowd outside the street and shook his head in silence, muttering to himself, "These people really have nothing better to do. If a Ghostly Being comes out from the street, they'll be the ones crying." 0

Realizing he couldn't persuade the onlookers, Huang Ping decided to stop trying. He instructed his colleagues to guard the entrance of the street and stepped aside to take out his phone. He called a colleague who was rushing over to provide support. 0

When Huang Ping learned that his colleague would arrive in ten minutes, he let out a long sigh of relief. The noise outside made him worry that Wang Hongtao might notice something unusual and take the opportunity to escape. 0

Turning his gaze deeper into the street, Huang Ping said with concern, "Jiang Ling, you need to hurry up; otherwise, the person will get away." 0
