Startled, I quickly took out a talisman and pressed it against my hand. As soon as I finished speaking, the talisman ignited without a flame, transforming into a faint fire that incinerated the three Black Insects into ashes.
My expression darkened as I secretly summoned the Buddhist Power within me, calling forth Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Buddha Manifestation from my Dantian to guard me against further ambushes from the Evil Insect Master's Blood-Sucking Worms.
After three or four seconds, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Buddha Manifestation transformed into strands of Golden Buddha Light that entered my body, enveloping me in a layer of golden light. My entire being was wrapped up without a single gap; only then did I let out a long sigh of relief.
The Evil Insect Master glanced at the light membrane surrounding me and sneered disdainfully. His voice turned grim as he said, "Heh heh, Jiang Ling, your reaction is quite quick. Although you have magical protection, who knows if that woman has similar means."
No sooner had he finished speaking than he gestured with his hands. A swarm of black Blood-Sucking Worms flew out from his sleeves and rapidly headed towards He Ying beneath the counter.
My expression soured as I shot a cold glare at the Evil Insect Master and said, "Evil Insect Master, why are you in such a hurry? If you want this Soul Nourishing Stone so badly, I'll give it to you."
With that, I threw the Soul Nourishing Stone behind me while simultaneously pulling out three Separation Fire Talismans and quickly ran toward the counter.
The Evil Insect Master, seeing my movements, swayed his body and rushed toward the spot where the Soul Nourishing Stone was about to land. His speed was astonishing; before the Soul Nourishing Stone even touched the ground, he had already caught it.
The Evil Insect Master examined the Soul Nourishing Stone in his hand carefully and quickly confirmed its authenticity. They were Blood-Sucking Worms raised on human blood by the Evil Insect Master and were extremely ferocious.
When the Evil Insect Master commanded the swarm of Blood-Sucking Worms to attack, I had already reached the counter and used the Separation Fire Talisman in my hand to incinerate the group of black Blood-Sucking Worms.
I saw He Ying lying on the ground and quickly checked her breath. I found that she was merely unconscious and unharmed. "I refuse to accept this! I want to live!" The Evil Insect Master's expression twisted as he let out a furious roar, tearing open his black robe to reveal his emaciated body underneath.
"Come forth, my master!" He slapped his chest several times and then struck his belly. Beneath his chest, flesh began to writhe as dozens of fist-sized Blood-Sucking Worms pushed toward his stomach, making it look like that of a pregnant woman.
I looked at the bulging belly of the Evil Insect Master in front of me, and suddenly recalled the figure in a black robe I had seen at the dock. My brow furrowed as I spoke, "How could this be! This is not the Evil Insect Master at all; he is merely a Puppet of the Evil Insect Master!"
Before I could finish, Liu Zhenxian's Ghost Blade had already struck the man's neck, severing his head from his body. A spray of crimson blood erupted forth as the man convulsed a few times before collapsing straight to the ground.
Buzzing filled the air as the man's belly was torn open, and dozens of fist-sized Green Grubs flew out. They hovered in midair for a moment before opening their mouths and spewing a cloud of green mist towards Liu Zhenxian, enveloping him in the Green Mist.
