As the leader of the group of bodyguards, Zhao Zipeng considered for a moment before deciding to leave two bodyguards behind to accompany Ding Feng while he took the lead into the funeral home to find Tian Long.
Holding a steel pipe in his hand, Zhao Zipeng pushed open the large door of the funeral home and turned to the others behind him, saying, "Stay close behind me. If anything seems off, everyone should run outside."
The reason Zhao Zipeng dared to enter the funeral home again was entirely due to Wu Jie giving him three Exorcism Talismans. Having witnessed the power of these talismans, he felt a renewed sense of confidence. Of course, the others also had Exorcism Talismans, each carrying three as well.
Wu Jie nodded and urged, "Zhao Zipeng, hurry up and lead the way! We've already taken too long; Tian Long might be in danger."
Zhao Zipeng nodded in agreement. He said no more, gripping the three talismans tightly in his hand as he took a flashlight and stepped into the funeral home.
It was Wu Jie's first time entering a funeral home. The moment he stepped inside, he felt the air around him suddenly turn icy, sending chills down his spine.
He rubbed his arms and turned to the two female hosts beside him, asking nervously, "Did you feel that the temperature around us changed?"
The two female hosts paused at Wu Jie's words. They glanced around and shook their heads in confusion, replying, "We don't feel anything different. There's nothing unusual here at Flash Dance Network."
"Am I just being overly sensitive?" Wu Jie furrowed his brow, filled with doubt but chose not to press further. He quietly followed behind Zhao Zipeng and quickly made his way toward the Body Storage Room they had just come from.
Perhaps it was because they all carried Exorcism Talismans that Wu Jie and his companions did not encounter any ghosts or monsters along the way. They anxiously arrived outside the Body Storage Room.
Zhao Zipeng looked at the closed door of the Body Storage Room with an uneasy expression. He distinctly remembered that there had been a female corpse hanging in front of this door earlier, but now it was nowhere to be seen.
"Zhao Zipeng, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and go inside!" Wu Jie looked at Zhao Zipeng in confusion. He noticed that the bodyguards around them were clearly tense, but he had no idea what had happened here, nor did the bodyguards seem inclined to explain.
"We haven't seen Tian Long all this way; he is likely inside this Body Storage Room. Once we find Tian Long, we will leave immediately. Do you understand?" Zhao Zipeng snapped back to attention upon hearing Wu Jie's words. He turned seriously to the group behind him.
"We understand," they replied in unison. The two female hosts, feeling both scared and excited, exchanged glances before instinctively moving closer to Wu Jie.
"We're going in!" Zhao Zipeng took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and quickly stepped into the Body Storage Room. His first action upon entering was to shine his flashlight up at the ceiling. The previous sight of the female corpse had frightened him, so he carefully scanned the area and noticed that the ceiling was empty. He let out a long sigh of relief.
The others also shone their flashlights around the Body Storage Room. They saw that all the tables were back in place, and the three black body bags lay quietly on top of them, even the zippers had been pulled up again, as if nothing had happened just moments ago.
Sun Qiang and Li Shengwu exchanged glances, their hands and feet turning cold with fear. They remembered pulling open two of those body bags themselves and couldn’t recall anyone zipping them back up.
Wu Jie was unaware of what had transpired. He swept his flashlight around the Body Storage Room but did not see Tian Long anywhere. Frowning deeply, he called out loudly, "Tian Long, where are you? We’ve come to find you. Can you hear me? Tian Long, are you there?"
The silence in the mortuary amplified Wu Jie’s voice, echoing throughout the Body Storage Room. However, after calling out three or four times without receiving a response from Tian Long, he grew increasingly anxious.
"Let’s split up and search for him; Tian Long might be hiding in a corner or has fainted," Wu Jie suggested to those around him as he held his flashlight and moved deeper into the Body Storage Room.
The group of Black Bodyguards felt slightly reassured since nothing strange had happened so far. A few of them stood together and slowly made their way into the Body Storage Room as well, but they didn’t rush; they simply searched cautiously near the entrance.
"Tian Long, come out! We forgive you; you can show yourself now," the two female hosts called out loudly behind Wu Jie. They felt pity for Tian Long after witnessing his plight and decided to give him another chance.
As Wu Jie and his companions ventured further into the Body Storage Room, they soon reached its far end. It was a bit distant from the entrance, and the flashlight's beam couldn’t illuminate everything clearly.
Wu Jie shone his flashlight around and noticed that there were freezers on either side for storing bodies. There was a gap between them and the wall of the Body Storage Room, which appeared dark inside. Standing at a distance, Wu Jie couldn't make out what was happening within that shadowy space.
Wu Jie glanced at the two female streamers beside him and said, "Tian Long should be hiding in here; there’s no other place to hide. I'll check the right side first, and you two can look at the left side."
The two female streamers nodded, and the three of them split up, heading toward the two gaps. Wu Jie shone his flashlight inside, but instead of seeing Tian Long, he discovered a child hiding within.
The child was wearing a blue top with a cartoon pig head drawn in the center. If Li Shengwu were to see this, he would surely recognize that this was the same child from the black body bag earlier.
Wu Jie did not know the child's identity. When he pointed his flashlight in the child's direction, the child looked up at him with fear, then crouched in the corner, trembling slightly.
Wu Jie moved the flashlight away from the child and put on a sunny smile. "Hey there, little friend. Why are you all alone here? Do you remember your parents' phone number? Big Brother will take you home, okay?"
