Around eleven-thirty at night, I hurried to the place I had agreed upon with Lin Hanyu. He was already waiting there, carrying his old backpack.
"Jiang Ling, you finally made it!" Lin Hanyu smiled when he saw me, relief washing over his face.
It hadn't been long before the stench of decay emanating from Lin Hanyu grew stronger. The Corpse Qi and Eerie Aura surrounding him intertwined completely, rendering his strength ineffective, akin to a Ghost Corpse devoid of any cultivation. If I hadn't been there to protect him, he definitely wouldn't have dared to venture into the Ghost Realm alone in search of the Gate of the Underworld.
"I'm sorry! Something came up last minute, and I arrived late!" I said apologetically. The reason for my delay was that Loli had called me, asking for money. I had been busy delivering it and only just returned to the Buddhist Artifact Shop before rushing over with my backpack.
"It's fine! I'm just glad you could come!" Lin Hanyu said with a pale smile. He pulled out a blood-stained Daoist Robe from his backpack and forcefully shoved it into my hands, his expression serious. "Jiang Ling, I found this Daoist Robe near the Gate of the Underworld. Although I don't know its origins, the bloodstains on it carry a strong magical power. The owner of this Daoist Robe must have a cultivation level above the Daoist Earth Immortal Tablet! If you wear it, it should be able to intimidate some ghosts!"
I frowned as I looked at the Daoist Robe in my hands, feeling some resistance inside me. However, Lin Hanyu was right; my strength was too weak. To navigate the Ghost Realm safely, I had no choice but to use some means. Sighing in resignation, I said, "Alright! I'll reluctantly wear it then!"
As I donned the Daoist Robe, an inexplicable warmth enveloped me, and the Daoist Magic within me stirred restlessly, seemingly growing stronger. Raising an eyebrow, I thought to myself, "Could this Daoist Robe actually be a treasure?"
Time passed quickly as Lin Hanyu and I chatted for a while. Soon it was midnight, the time when Eerie Energy peaked and when it was easiest to open the passage to the Ghost Realm.
"Jiang Ling, step back a bit; I'm going to open the passage!" Lin Hanyu said seriously. I nodded and quickly moved aside.
Lin Hanyu cut his palm and let his blood drip onto the ground as he began inscribing complex symbols—symbols I had never seen before. As he drew them, he chanted: "Underworld Ghost Domain, where demons roam! Gate of the Underworld, suppress Demon God! I am the messenger traversing both realms! In times of peril, my flesh has fallen! Summon spirits from the netherworld; open the door to the Ghost Realm! Gate of the Underworld above, open Ghost Gate!"
As Lin Hanyu's voice fell silent, the symbols on the ground twisted and soon a black circular hole appeared on the ground, about the size of a bathtub. A chilling Eerie Energy surged forth from within, causing me to shiver.
After opening the passage to the Ghost Realm, Lin Hanyu's body became even weaker. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and took a deep breath. "Jiang Ling, this formation can only hold for two minutes. I'm going down first; you need to hurry!"
Lin Hanyu jumped directly into the black hole and quickly disappeared from my sight. I was about to follow when I heard a loud shout nearby. Turning my head, I saw four or five figures rushing towards us.
"You two delinquents, stop right there! Stay put!" It turned out that the patrolling security guards had spotted Lin Hanyu and me lurking in a corner of the park. They suspected we were up to no good and hurried over with flashlights and batons.
Feeling embarrassed, I scratched my ear and waved at the guards, smiling as I called out, "Uncle Security, my dad told me to go home for dinner! I'm leaving now!"
With that, I turned and jumped into the black hole on the ground, my body plunging into the Ghost Realm. After a while, the black hole completely vanished, and both Lin Hanyu and I disappeared without a trace.
"What happened! Where did those two delinquents go?" The group of security guards arrived at the spot where I had just been, looking around in confusion. However, there was only a two-story high wall surrounding the area, with no hiding places. They searched thoroughly but found no sign of Lin Hanyu or me.
"Captain, that delinquent said he went home for dinner and then just vanished! They can't be ghosts, can they?" one guard said nervously. Given how quickly they had arrived, it seemed impossible for normal people to disappear so completely.
"At this hour, what nonsense are you talking about! There are no such things as ghosts in this world!" The security captain scolded loudly, but a flicker of fear crossed his eyes. He waved his hand and said, "Forget about those two delinquents; let's continue our patrol elsewhere!"
With that, the guards hurriedly left the corner of the park, their frantic escape looking quite chaotic. Although the captain claimed there were no ghosts in this world, he was the fastest to flee.
On the other side, after jumping into the black hole, I immediately felt darkness enveloping me. A strong tearing sensation coursed through my body while my head spun uncontrollably, making it hard to tell where I was.
"Ah! Cough cough~~" After what felt like a long time, my body finally hit the ground. Before even opening my eyes, I crouched down and began to vomit violently until everything I had eaten that evening came up. Only then did I feel a bit better.
Lin Hanyu showed no signs of discomfort; he reached out to help me up and asked curiously, "Jiang Ling, is this your first time in the Ghost Realm?"
"Yes, it's my first time!" I nodded and stood up weakly. It was then that I began to take in my surroundings. The Ghost Realm appeared gray and hazy; there was neither sun nor moon visible, yet the light here wasn't too dim either—it was just enough to make out our environment.
"The Eerie Energy here is so heavy!" I noticed the misty Eerie Energy around me, and my expression grew serious. I quickly mobilized the Daoist Magic within me to protect my physical body, preventing the Eerie Energy from invading.
"Woof Woof~~" At that moment, an excited bark echoed from within me as a shadow leaped onto my shoulder. It was the Three-Eyed Ghost Beast inside me, Dog Treasure.
