Jiang Qi received the order from Chen Sibao and prepared to release me. He walked to the door of the Holding Cell and noticed an unusual silence inside; there were no sounds of fighting, which was rare in the Holding Cell.
"Jiang Ling, they haven't killed you, have they? That would be a real problem!" Jiang Qi thought to himself, his expression turning serious as he hurried toward the Holding Cell.
"Hey? What's going on?" Jiang Qi was ready to call for an ambulance, but when he saw me sitting there nonchalantly in the Holding Cell, he was momentarily taken aback.
"Oh, it's Officer Jiang! Why are you rushing over here in such a panic? Are you here to let us out?" Yellow-Haired Leopard said with a grin.
Jiang Qi snapped back to reality. He shot a glare at Yellow-Haired Leopard and, while pulling out his keys to unlock the cell door, said, "Yellow-Haired Leopard, consider yourselves lucky this time! The owner of that stolen jewelry store just came by our station. He has decided not to pursue your case any further, so we have no choice but to let you go! But if you get caught again next time, you won't be so fortunate! I advise you to behave yourselves after you get out and not get into trouble again!"
"Haha, Officer Jiang, don't worry! Once we're out, we'll turn over a new leaf and become model citizens!" Yellow-Haired Leopard exclaimed as he quickly led his gang out of the Holding Cell. Before leaving, he glanced back at me and subtly gestured with his hand, indicating that he hadn't forgotten about what I had asked him to do.
Jiang Qi watched as Yellow-Haired Leopard and his crew left, shaking his head helplessly. This was the twenty-eighth time Yellow-Haired Leopard had been brought into the station. He had barely been released before causing more trouble and getting caught again. If anyone expected Yellow-Haired Leopard to reform, they might as well buy a lottery ticket; the odds of winning the jackpot were likely better than his chances of turning over a new leaf.
Jiang Qi waved at me and said, "Jiang Ling, you can come out now! Our chief wants to see you alone!"
"Okay!" I stepped out of the Holding Cell and followed Jiang Qi outside the station. This time I wasn't handcuffed, which made me suspect that I might be getting released.
I followed Jiang Qi all the way to the parking lot outside the station. He pointed at a luxury SUV and said, "Chief Chen is waiting for you in that car. You can go over by yourself! I have things to attend to!"
As soon as Jiang Qi finished speaking, he turned and left without worrying that I might take this opportunity to escape. I certainly didn't dare to run; otherwise, I'd be charged with escaping from prison, which would be a huge loss for me. I touched my ear nervously as I walked toward the SUV.
"Chief Chen, I'm here!" I knocked on the driver's side window and called out. The glass slid down, revealing Chen Sibao sitting inside.
Chen Sibao flashed a smug smile at me and said, "Jiang Ling, I am Director Chen. Surprised? Shocked?"
"You... you're that weirdo, Chen Sibao!" I exclaimed, pointing at him in disbelief. I recognized him immediately, but I never expected that a police station director would be carrying a bag full of rotten eggs to throw at Wang Xinyu. Chen Sibao truly was a peculiar character.
I leaned against the car window and asked, "Chen Sibao, why did you call me over? If there's nothing important, I'll just head back!"
Chen Sibao patted my shoulder, his expression somewhat complicated as he said, "Jiang Ling, I actually have a personal matter to trouble you with! Get in the car; let's talk while we drive!"
"Alright!" I replied nonchalantly, opening the door and sitting in the passenger seat. As I got closer to Chen Sibao earlier, I caught a faint Eerie Aura and a hint of women's perfume on him. I guessed that he must have been entangled with a female ghost, but I didn't want to directly question him about it.
Chen Sibao started the car and drove us onto the road. He asked, "Jiang Ling, I heard from Wang Hai's butler that you are actually a Yin-Yang Master. Is that true?"
I nodded and exaggerated slightly, saying, "That's right! I am indeed a Yin-Yang Master, and a very skilled one at that!"
"Great! It seems I didn't find the wrong person!" A glimmer of joy appeared on Chen Sibao's face as he continued, "To be honest, I've recently encountered a female ghost and need your help!"
His words confirmed my earlier suspicion. I wasn't too surprised; instead, I calmly nodded and said, "Chen Sibao, how did you encounter that female ghost? Please tell me the details."
Chen Sibao's gaze became hazy as he began to recall. "It was about three days ago when my friends and I planned to go hiking together. At first, everything went smoothly; there were no unusual occurrences. We set off at eight in the morning and reached the summit around three in the afternoon. Afterward, we set up our tents on the peak and gathered for a barbecue, drinking and chatting."
"Originally, we planned to spend the night at the top with five of us. However, they all had last-minute matters to attend to and left one by one, leaving me alone at the summit. I had drunk quite a bit and ended up dozing off inside my tent. When I woke up, it was already the next morning."
At this point, Chen Sibao's expression turned slightly embarrassed. He paused for a moment before continuing, "When I woke up, I found myself next to an incredibly beautiful woman sleeping beside me. I was completely flustered. She was so stunning that my heart raced; I was utterly captivated by her—it was love at first sight."
I saw the lovesick expression on Chen Sibao's face, and goosebumps crawled all over me. I rubbed my arms and asked in confusion, "Chen Sibao, you're not still single at your age, are you?"
"What's wrong with being single? Singles are people too!" Chen Sibao shot me an annoyed glare and continued, "That beautiful woman told me she was a ghost when she woke up, and then she just vanished! I've been using the police station's system to track her down for days. This morning, I finally found her and met her. We agreed to see each other again tonight."
"I don't know what ghosts like, so I'm bringing you along. You can help me out!" Chen Sibao smiled at me, then patted my shoulder and said, "Jiang Ling, my happiness depends on you!"
"What the hell! After all this time, you're chasing a ghost and expect me to be your third wheel!" I shot Chen Sibao a speechless glare. It seemed I had guessed wrong before; it wasn't that the ghost was clinging to Chen Sibao, but rather that he was the one pursuing her.
"Chen Sibao, pull over! I want to get out!" I shouted loudly, but unfortunately, he completely ignored me. Instead of slowing down, he pressed the accelerator even harder.
