“Yellow-Haired Leopard, what are you doing here? Have you gotten into trouble again?” I said smugly, sitting in the Holding Cell on the only chair, with my legs crossed. I thought to myself, thankfully the warden of this Holding Cell is Yellow-Haired Leopard; if it were someone else, they would surely give me a hard time and make me suffer.
“Master, we were wrongfully arrested!” Yellow-Haired Leopard's face turned red, as if he had suffered a great injustice. He paused for a moment before continuing, “This afternoon, I took my brother out for a meal and we passed by a jewelry store. Suddenly, for some unknown reason, the glass door of that store was smashed, and a piece of jewelry worth millions went missing.”
“Originally, this had nothing to do with us. But when we finished eating and I checked my pocket, I found that missing jewelry inexplicably appeared on me! Before I could react, the police from the station brought me here!”
“Haha! Yellow-Haired Leopard, you really are unlucky!” I laughed heartily, believing Yellow-Haired Leopard’s words because I felt a ghostly presence resting on his shoulder.
The ghost looked somewhat peculiar—big-headed and big-eared, not very tall, with long arms that seemed out of proportion. What caught my attention most was the faint gray Eerie Aura emanating from it, indicating that this ghost was a Jinx capable of bringing misfortune.
I shook my leg and calmly said, “Yellow-Haired Leopard, let me be straightforward with you! There’s a Jinx on you, and as long as it stays with you, you’ll continue to have bad luck! However, if you’re willing to help me with something, I can help you get rid of that Jinx!”
In truth, that Jinx's Cultivation was weak; it could only confuse an ordinary person like Yellow-Haired Leopard. Anyone with even a little knowledge of Spell could easily drive away this Jinx—let alone someone like me who practiced both Taoism and Buddhism.
Yellow-Haired Leopard turned pale with fear. He glanced over his shoulder but saw nothing there; perhaps due to psychological effects, he suddenly felt his shoulder grow unusually heavy.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Yellow-Haired Leopard pounded his chest and declared loudly, “Master, whatever you need, just say the word! I would risk my life to get it done for you!”
I shot him an exasperated look and quickly walked up to him. “Don’t be so dramatic; I’m not asking you to do anything bad! Also, just call me Jiang Ling. Don’t keep calling me Master; it sounds awkward!”
“Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! With the power of Taoism, reveal the ghost’s true form! Let no spirit be alarmed by the decree of the Three Pure Ones! Break the body spell—command!” I bit my finger and quickly drew a talisman in my palm before slapping it onto the Jinx resting on Yellow-Haired Leopard's shoulder.
As soon as I finished speaking, the talisman emitted a white light that revealed the true form of the Jinx. This way, even if Yellow-Haired Leopard and his companions hadn’t opened their Wisdom Eye, they would still be able to see what the Jinx looked like.
"Chirp!" The Jinx let out a panicked shriek and jumped down from the Yellow-Haired Leopard's shoulder, causing the group of criminals in the Holding Cell to scatter in fear, all of them retreating far away with terrified expressions as they stared at the Jinx.
I watched as the burly criminals turned pale with fright, shaking their heads in bitter amusement. Indeed, the unknown is the most terrifying. If this Jinx were a living person, they would likely beat it to a pulp.
"Buddhist Teachings to Save All Beings, ferrying people, demons, and spirits! As an Undead, reincarnate and be free from worldly attachments! Buddhist Transformation Palm! Namo Amitabha Buddha!" My expression grew serious as I pressed my palms together and recited the Rebirth Sutra of the Buddhist Sect. Upon hearing the Sutra, the Jinx slowly calmed down and lay down in front of me. I recited the Rebirth Sutra three times before successfully guiding the Jinx to peace.
After seeing the Jinx disappear, the Yellow-Haired Leopard rushed over to flatter me, saying, "Master Jiang Ling, you truly are a professional! Impressive!"
"Yellow-Haired Leopard, that Jinx was attached to you because there must be something about you that attracted it! Have you received anything strange lately?" I asked.
The Yellow-Haired Leopard raised an eyebrow and without hesitation took off a bracelet from his wrist, handing it to me. "Master Jiang Ling, this bracelet was given to me by that lecherous fat man! He hired me to cause trouble for you but didn’t have enough cash on him, so he gave me this bracelet as part of the payment! It must be this bracelet that's causing the problem!"
I examined the bracelet closely and found it was made of silver and looked quite ordinary. The only oddity was that at its clasp were two long strings tied together, which also served as its button.
One string was red and the other black. I pulled on both strings forcefully and was surprised to find that I had torn off the black string. Upon closer inspection of the broken string, I realized it was woven from human hair, which looked quite eerie.
"It seems this bracelet really has issues!" I frowned and scrutinized the remaining string. When I brought it close to my nose, I caught a faint but pungent smell of blood. This scent was subtle; if one didn't pay close attention, they wouldn't notice it at all. I suspected that there was a high probability—about ninety percent—that this blood on the red string was human blood.
I examined the components of the bracelet again and noticed that many of them had intricate runes etched into their inner sides. These runes were peculiar; it was my first time seeing anything like them.
I returned the bracelet to the Yellow-Haired Leopard, brushing off any dust on my hands. "Yellow-Haired Leopard, this bracelet has been cursed with Western Sorcery! Wang Xinyu must be trying to kill you!"
"What?" The Yellow-Haired Leopard jumped in shock and hurriedly tossed the bracelet onto the ground. He wiped his hands clean where he had touched it, his eyes filled with terror.
"Yellow-Haired Leopard, now that I have seen through Wang Xinyu's scheme, you don't need to be afraid!" I patted Yellow-Haired Leopard on the shoulder and secretly infused a trace of Buddhist Power into him, calming his emotions. Once I saw Yellow-Haired Leopard regain his composure, I continued, "Yellow-Haired Leopard, I have a personal grudge with Wang Xinyu. Recently, he hired a Western Wizard to deal with me, and I have no idea where they are hiding or when they plan to strike! So, I need your help to find out where Wang Xinyu and his associates are hiding!"
"Master Jiang Ling, leave this matter to me, Yellow-Haired Leopard! That lecherous fat man dares to scheme against me; I will not let him off easily!" Yellow-Haired Leopard's eyes glinted with fierce determination. He recalled the details of his past encounters with Wang Xinyu, which also led me to learn about He Naixing's existence.
"Thud thud~~" Just as Yellow-Haired Leopard and I were discussing the details of tracking down Wang Xinyu's whereabouts, a series of hurried footsteps echoed from outside the Holding Cell. Someone was rushing over in a panic.
Three updates for tonight! Thanks to Feng Sheng Tan for the reward; there will still be three updates tomorrow, and I will try to update earlier!
