In the basement, my eyes were tightly shut, my consciousness still trapped in the illusion created by the ghost, but my body had stopped trembling. My eyebrows twitched occasionally, hinting that I was on the verge of waking from the nightmare. 0

"This person is so difficult to deal with!" the ghost said irritably, standing in the bathtub. The green light in his right eye was growing dimmer, blood vessels filling his eyes as he struggled to maintain control. 0

His expression twisted into a grimace as both of his eyes opened wide. In a chilling tone, he declared, "Since you refuse to give in and do not wish to become my Puppet, I have no choice but to kill you!" 0

The ghost had initially aimed to shatter my consciousness with the illusion he crafted and leave his mark on my soul, turning me into his Puppet. 0

Unfortunately for him, he underestimated the strength of my will. His eyes were nearing their limit while my resolve remained unbroken; in fact, I was close to escaping the illusion. 0

Having given up on making me his Puppet, he prepared to strike before I regained consciousness. That was his only chance to kill me; once I awoke, I could easily eliminate him with a mere gesture. 0

Tears of blood streamed from his eyes, but he paid them no mind. He formed strange seals with his hands and chanted ominously, "Twin Ghost Eyes, create an illusion! Endless reincarnation, unceasing slaughter! Demon Eyes unleashed, Divine Soul sealed! Spirit Ghost Technique, bind!" 0

I had no idea where he learned the Spirit Ghost Technique; it was a skill only spirits could cultivate. The technique he used was a rare Evil Eye Ghost Technique that perfectly matched his abilities. 0

As soon as he finished speaking, his eyes deepened, the light within them becoming subdued. A grotesque ghostly face emerged within his gaze. 0

"Roar~~" The two ghostly faces let out a chilling howl and suddenly lunged out from his eyes, diving straight into my mind. 0

The entire scene unfolded rapidly; from the moment he unleashed the Spirit Ghost Technique to when the two ghostly faces entered my head took less than ten seconds. 0

"What the hell is this?" As soon as those two faces entered my mind, they plunged into the illusion and transformed into two enormous ghostly visages that ensnared my consciousness tightly, preventing me from escaping the nightmare for the time being. 0

In the basement, after the ghost unleashed the Spirit Ghost Technique, his already thin body became even more emaciated, shrinking in size. The ghost's cultivation was still too weak; forcing this technique took a heavy toll on him. 0

His eyes locked onto me, filled with murderous intent. Emerging from the bathtub, he spoke in a chilling voice, "As long as I devour your flesh and blood, I will surely recover the cultivation and flesh I just lost!" 0

"This is my first time killing someone; I wonder what it will feel like!" The ghost licked his lips, his expression turning greedy. He raised both hands and pressed them against my chest, then shouted loudly, "Parasitic Ghost Beast, drain his blood and flesh!" 0

With a screech, two bizarre Demon Beasts appeared on the ghost's palms. These creatures had large round heads, with their other limbs barely noticeable, resembling oversized balls. Their enormous pointed mouths were about one-third the size of their bodies. Strangely enough, aside from those sharp mouths, the Demon Beasts had no other facial features. 0

Wang Hai was able to sustain himself using human blood and forcefully extend his life thanks to these two Demon Beasts. They could consume human blood and extract the lifespan contained within it, transferring that vitality through the ghost's body to Wang Hai. 0

With another screech, the two Demon Beasts were summoned and immediately opened their gaping mouths, lunging at my chest. Their teeth were razor-sharp; they sank into my flesh and tore away two large chunks of meat from my torso, staining my clothes with blood. 0

"Ah!" I let out a scream of agony as cold sweat poured down my forehead. My tightly shut eyes flew open. Despite the two ghastly faces ensnaring my consciousness, the excruciating pain in my chest pierced deep into my soul, allowing my awareness to escape the illusion in an instant. The ghostly faces in my mind shattered along with the illusion. 0

"Impossible! You can't wake up! The saliva of these Demon Beasts contains Voodoo that can paralyze a Living Person's soul! You should feel nothing while they consume your flesh! Why are you awake?" The ghost's face turned frantic as he saw my eyes open. He withdrew his hands and began to retreat. 0

"I just escaped the illusion; that was your death knell!" I replied coldly, fixing my gaze on him while an aura of killing intent radiated from me without restraint. 0

I threw down the Demon-Subduing Staff and secretly summoned the Buddhist Power from my Dantian. Soon, I called forth my Buddhist Manifestation. My expression turned serious as I slowly raised my right hand toward the ghost and recited, "Buddhist Teachings to Save All Beings—saving people, demons, and spirits! For those who are Undead, reincarnate and forget worldly matters! Buddhist Transformation Palm! Namo Amitabha Buddha!" 0

The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva behind me radiated golden light as my Buddha Manifestation executed a Buddhist Transformation Palm. In an instant, it appeared above the ghost's head and struck down upon his Spirit Cover with its right hand, scattering his soul. 0

The ghost's cultivation was far too weak; he was no match for me. Moreover, being merely an evil spirit conjured by a Western Wizard, he lacked the qualifications to reincarnate in the Underworld and was thus easily defeated by my palm strike. 0

I retracted my Buddha Manifestation and glanced at the spot where the ghost had vanished, snorting coldly, "Hmph! You couldn't even withstand a single strike from me. I was planning to torment you a bit, let you taste what it's like to be tortured, but now it seems I've done you a favor!" 0

I shook my head, feeling a twinge of regret. If I had acted decisively and suppressed that ghost the moment I laid eyes on it, none of this would have happened. Now, with two chunks of flesh bitten off my chest, I realized I had brought this suffering upon myself. 0

"I hope I didn't damage any bones!" I thought to myself. I set my backpack down and began to remove my clothes. Shining my flashlight on the area, I discovered two fist-sized patches of flesh missing from my chest. The wounds weren't very deep, and thankfully, my bones were unharmed. 0

I let out a sigh of relief, but just then, my chest suddenly felt hot. A somewhat familiar pattern began to emerge on my skin. Upon closer inspection, I recognized the outline of the design and exclaimed in confusion, "Isn't this the Round Seal on my body?!" 0
