"What’s going on? Can’t these taxis see me?" I stood by the roadside for over ten minutes, unable to hail a single taxi. I clearly saw three or four empty cabs pass by, yet none of them stopped for me. 0

"Damn it! If another empty taxi drives by without stopping, I might as well fake an accident!" A surge of frustration welled up inside me. Just as I finished my thought, an empty taxi drove past me without even slowing down. 0

Feeling a bit embarrassed, I touched my ear and cleared my throat, muttering to myself, "Ahem, faking an accident isn’t something a good citizen like me should do! I might as well take the bus!" 0

In reality, the taxi drivers weren’t ignoring me; it was just that my location was problematic. Not long ago, a taxi driver had pulled over at that very spot to pick up a passenger, but his car inexplicably lost control and crashed into a lamppost. He ended up in the hospital. 0

This incident spread among the taxi drivers, and many of them became superstitious about that spot, avoiding it altogether. 0

Just as I was about to walk away, a black sedan suddenly pulled up beside me. The driver rolled down the window and shouted, "Hey there! Where are you headed? I can give you a ride!" 0

Seeing a car stop made me instinctively respond, even though I knew it was a private vehicle without a license: "I’m going to Dragon's Apartment!" 0

"Dragon's Apartment? That’s quite far—at least twenty kilometers. I'll take you there for fifty bucks!" the driver said. Thinking about the five hundred thousand Renminbi waiting for me, I didn’t mind the fare and opened the back door to get in. 0

"Wait, there’s someone else in here!" As I settled into the car, I noticed a girl in her twenties sitting next to me. She wore a floral long dress and a sun hat, her head bowed low. She hadn’t looked at me once. 0

"Oh, this girl is my passenger too; she’s going to Dragon's Apartment just like you!" the driver explained as he started the engine and drove onto the road. 0

I nodded but remained skeptical of his words. The girl next to me gave off an eerie vibe; the more I looked at her, the stranger she seemed. 0

"Something’s off here. Sitting in a car with a sun hat on? That’s odd!" I thought to myself. The skin on her exposed arms was exceptionally pale—so white it resembled paper rather than that of a living person. However, when I focused on her, I couldn’t sense any trace of corpse energy; there was no sign of living person’s yang energy either. 0

"This is absolutely abnormal!" My heart raced, and a cold sweat broke out on my back as I instinctively tightened my grip on the Demon-Subduing Staff. 0

"Jiang Ling, are you looking at me with such lewd eyes because you have a crush on me?" A rather neutral voice came from the girl. My face turned pale as I snapped back, "Who are you! How do you know my name?" 0

"Haha, Jiang Ling, you don't recognize me anymore!" The girl let out a wild laugh and lifted her Sun Hat, revealing her true face. 0

She had an oval face with long hair that reached her waist, and she wore a pair of silver earrings. Her outfit looked no different from that of an ordinary girl, but her features appeared oddly mismatched, as if they had been forcibly affixed to her face. 0

"You are Wang Xinyu!" I recognized the owner of those features at once, feeling a mix of confusion and realization. This was all part of Wang Xinyu's plan; he had orchestrated a car accident to get me into the vehicle he prepared and spread rumors among taxi drivers to set up the earlier scene. 0

"Haha, Jiang Ling, go die!" The girl laughed maniacally as she reached out to choke my neck. 0

"Wang Xinyu, do you dare to use Evil Spell in front of me? Are you seeking death?" Although I didn't know how Wang Xinyu managed to attach his features to this girl, he was gravely mistaken if he thought this would work against me. 0

The space inside the car was cramped, making it difficult to wield the Demon-Subduing Staff effectively. As I felt her hands closing around my neck, I quickly drew a Buddhist Seal in my palm and pressed it against her Spirit Cover. I chanted, "Buddhist Teachings to Save All Beings, ferrying humans, demons, and spirits! For the Undead, reincarnate and be free from worldly attachments! Buddhist Sect's Enlightenment Palm! Namo Amitabha Buddha!" 0

The Buddha's Palm could transcend all Souls. Although Wang Xinyu was still alive and his spirit wasn't Undead yet, this fragment of his soul was independent and could no longer be considered part of him. 0

"Ah!" The girl screamed in agony as her features twisted grotesquely. Wang Xinyu's spirit floated out from her Spirit Cover, dissipating into nothingness. Her features vanished completely, leaving only a blank face behind. 0

In a house owned by Wang Xinyu, in the basement, He Naixing set up an altar. A Puppet dressed in a Floral Long Dress stood at the center of the altar. Wang Xinyu sat before it with his eyes wide open; a silver needle pierced through his head while a red thread wrapped around it connected him to the Puppet. 0

Suddenly, Wang Xinyu opened his eyes. A sweet taste filled his throat as he spat out a mouthful of blood. His complexion turned pale, and he felt extraordinarily weak. The red thread connecting him to the Puppet snapped abruptly. 0

"Master, you are right, I am no match for him!" Wang Xinyu said as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. A flash of killing intent crossed his eyes, but it was quickly concealed. It was Wang Xinyu who had actively proposed to have his soul attached to that girl. Prior to this, He Naixing had already warned him, but Wang Xinyu still wanted to give it a try. 0

He Naixing nodded. He had long anticipated the outcome for Wang Xinyu. He pulled off the red thread from the Puppet and held a needle in his right hand while retrieving a bowl from the altar with his left. Inside the bowl was a lump of red semi-solid substance, and one could even see a Black Insect wriggling around inside. 0

"Demon God, lend your life; Witchcraft, grant your spirit! Undead arise, Living Person retreat! Ghost Witch Technique, awaken!" He Naixing chanted solemnly as he dipped the embroidery needle into the Red Liquid in the bowl. With swift movements, he drew facial features on the Puppet's face. 0

He Naixing placed the Puppet in a bowl on the altar and sprinkled a handful of Glutinous Rice over it, speaking in a chilling tone: "The true witchcraft begins now!" 0

At that moment, inside the taxi, the girl's face became blurred, and a delicate set of features reappeared on her face. 0

The fourth update is here; thanks to Sunflower and Bug for their support—here's an extra chapter. 0
