"Tick-tock, tick-tock." The crimson blood dripped onto the ground, and though the sound was not loud, it pierced the ears of the Grave Robbers and Yin-Yang Masters, sending chills down their spines.
Heads emerged from the Nine-Dragon Cauldron, each adorned with armor and pale as paper. They exuded a strong Corpse Qi, unmistakably the same group of Low-level Zombies that Wu Jingye and his companions had encountered in the palace.
It turned out that the ghosts released by Wu Jingye had fought fiercely against these Low-level Zombies, resulting in all the ghosts being severely injured. Ultimately, a powerful entity within the Jade Coffin intervened and forcibly refined them into Ghost Generals. The Low-level Zombies, having sustained various injuries from the battle, remained in the Nine-Dragon Cauldron to recover.
The water inside the Nine-Dragon Cauldron was not an Elixir of Immortality but rather Millennium Corpse Water, infused with pure Yin energy. This Millennium Corpse Water was a great tonic for Corpses; it not only healed their wounds but also allowed for the creation of more Corpses, including Low-level Zombies.
Wu Jingye recognized the black corpse water on the Zombies and his eyes sparkled with realization. "So it's Millennium Corpse Water! No wonder there are so many Low-level Zombies in this ancient tomb!"
"Wait! There should be more Zombies in this tomb; where did they go?" Wu Jingye counted the Zombies atop the Nine-Dragon Cauldron and found only about twenty, less than half of what they had encountered before. His brow furrowed as he scanned the surroundings of the tomb, trying to locate traces of other Low-level Zombies.
At that moment, the Low-level Zombies crawled out of the Nine-Dragon Cauldron. They jumped down, drew their Ghost Weapons—long swords—and shouted at those around the cauldron, "Roar! You lowly peasants dare disturb our king's rest? I will kill you all!"
With that, the Corpse Qi emanating from the Low-level Zombies became wildly agitated. Their eyes gradually turned blood-red as they charged towards the crowd wielding their Ghost Weapons.
"Hmph! Just twenty-some Low-level Zombies dare to act arrogant before us!" The Yin-Yang Masters drew their talismans and began casting spells as they surrounded the Low-level Zombies.
The number of Yin-Yang Masters was about three times that of the Low-level Zombies. Each group of three Yin-Yang Masters could easily handle one Zombie. Although they could not immediately slay these Zombies, it was clear that their fate was sealed; it was only a matter of time before they were defeated.
"Thank goodness for these Yin-Yang Masters; otherwise, we would be in serious trouble!" Yang Xiaochao let out a long sigh. He looked up at the Nine-Dragon Cauldron with disappointment, shaking his head as he muttered to himself, "I didn't expect that all that's inside this Nine-Dragon Cauldron is Millennium Corpse Water; it really is just as rumored!"
"Gold-Eating Mouse, it seems there are seven burial chambers behind this Nine-Dragon Cauldron!" At that moment, one of the Grave Robbers beside Yang Xiaochao spoke up. Yang Xiaochao quickly turned to look behind the Nine-Dragon Cauldron and discovered seven stone chamber entrances lined up at the back of the ancient tomb. The entrances were sealed with stone doors, clearly untouched burial chambers waiting to be explored.
Previously, all eyes were focused on the Nine-Dragon Cauldron. The dim light in the depths of the ancient tomb made it difficult to notice the existence of the seven burial chambers unless one looked closely.
"We'll surround those seven burial chambers and prevent those outsiders from getting their hands on them!" Yang Xiaochao said, his voice filled with menace. He brandished the blade in his hand and led his group of Grave Robbers swiftly toward the seven chambers.
"Hey?" Liu Yunchong noticed Yang Xiaochao's actions and turned to look in that direction. Soon, he too discovered the presence of the seven burial chambers deep within the tomb. A glint of malice flashed in Liu Yunchong's eyes as he tightened his grip on his short knife and shouted to his fellow Grave Robbers behind him, "Brothers, there are seven burial chambers over there! Let's rush over and not let this group of Mianyang Grave Robbers monopolize them!"
"Gold-Eating Mouse, just you wait!" Liu Yunchong muttered to himself as he charged ahead, his eyes fixed on Yang Xiaochao's figure. More than wanting to seize the treasures inside the chambers, he yearned to take advantage of the chaos to kill Yang Xiaochao and avenge his brother's severed arm.
Before long, Yang Xiaochao had surrounded the seven burial chambers with his Grave Robbers. He held his blade horizontally in front of him and addressed the approaching Liu Yunchong and his group, "These seven burial chambers have already been occupied by our Mianyang Grave Robbers. You outsiders should look elsewhere in the tomb!"
"Hmph! Gold-Eating Mouse, just because you've occupied these chambers doesn't mean they belong to you! Did you build this ancient tomb?" Liu Yunchong scoffed coldly, pointing his short knife at Yang Xiaochao. "Cut the crap! Let's have a fight first; whoever has the bigger fist will be the boss here!"
"Hmph! I'm not afraid of you! Brothers, charge with me and take down these outsiders!" Yang Xiaochao's expression soured as he snorted coldly. With a flick of his body, he lunged at Liu Yunchong with his blade.
In ancient tombs, when Grave Robbers fought for territory over burial chambers, it was common for both sides to engage in a fierce battle. The conflict would continue until one side was defeated and fled, allowing the victors to occupy all the chambers.
"Kill them!" both groups of Grave Robbers shouted as they charged at each other with their weapons drawn. Over two hundred Grave Robbers clashed together in a chaotic melee that resembled a gang shootout from a movie, even more intense than the battle between Yin-Yang Masters and Low-level Zombies nearby.
Yu Yuanhang and his companions watched the chaotic scene unfold before them, their expressions turning grim. Someone among them quipped, "Ha! The boss inside this ancient tomb hasn't even shown up yet, and our people are already fighting amongst themselves! It's truly ridiculous!"
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from deep within the tomb. The palace shook slightly, followed by a rhythmic sound of footsteps approaching from afar, growing louder.
Yu Yuanhang felt an unsettling anxiety rise within him. He exchanged glances with the other three Master Title Taoists beside him. They nodded at each other and took a few steps forward, surrounding the Jade Coffin in the center. They were finally ready to make their move.
"Your task is to help eliminate those Zombies and destroy the Millennium Corpse Water inside the Nine-Dragon Cauldron! Once we succeed, we will leave this ancient tomb immediately!" said a Taoist priest with a Master Title beside Yu Yuanhang.
"Understood!" Wu Jingye and the others responded in unison, then swiftly dashed toward the Nine-Dragon Cauldron.
Qu Liang followed closely behind Jin Yuan, clutching a silver talisman in her hand. Her face was flushed, and her heart raced intensely; this was her first time experiencing such a grand scene.
